- malarS10 contributionsGreat experienceI texted Bimal based on his reviews and we were not disappointed. He has a wonderful sense of humor as well. He took me to all the places I wanted and more. I was really interested in trying all the local food…I have a very sensitive stomach so I was worried as well. But Bimal took us to all the local joints and not once did it upset my stomach. I’m sure he knew which were the “clean” ones! We would hire Bimal in a heartbeat if we went to Varanasi again. And his knowledge and how he explained everything to us was amazing as well.Written 23 August 2024

- 667gautamb0 contributionsWell-planned itinerary and superb narrationWe engaged Sri Vimal Pathak during our recent three-day trip to Varanasi. He made our trip memorable in many ways. Firstly he made a great plan covering the Ganga Arati, temple visits (including the main Kashi Vishwanath. Annapurna and Vishalakshi temples as also the Sankatmochan Hanuman temple), boat ride (from Namo ghat to Assi ghat and back), heritage walk in the bylanes around the main temple, and visits to Sarnath and the BHU campus. He even organised a visit to a unit weaving the famous Benarsi silk sarees. Secondly, he ensured comfort for seniors like us by planning activities in the morning and evening giving adequate time during the day for rest in the hot season, He also ensured that we were picked and dropped from/to the airport and taken around the city in a comfortable SUV. Thirdly, and most importantly, he provided a wonderful narration regarding every place we visited or even passed in transit. His knowledge of the city and its history is amazing. One could listen to him endlessly. He also has a good knowledge of hindu and buddhist thought and shared interesting insights, especially in Sarnath. Being the president of the city guides association ensures that he has a good network and many things which otherwise take a lot of time and effort become simple for tourists. Finally, he was extremely courteous and accommodating. Seeing our interest in books he took us to a fascinating, sprawling, two-storied book shop tucked away out of sight from the main road, housing a huge collection of old and rare books. All in all we had a great trip, thanks to him.Written 30 April 2024
- Tour7954510 contributionsVimal Pathak - a great tour guide.Varanasi, Vindhyachal and Saranath were perhaps the best part of our tour - we had done Tamil Nadu, Assam and West Bengal before we concluded our tour with Uttar Pradesh. I have superlatives to describe our experience with Vimal Pathak, our tour guide. Vimal's education (Masters in Philosophy from the BHU) combined with his vast experience and deep knowledge of the locality and culture makes him an invaluable resource for perspectives and explanations/ answers to the many questions that we had. We enjoyed his humor and his positive disposition. On our request he was willing to deviate from the original program and add new spots. He did not nickel and dime us for deviations. Vimal is creative and resourceful in his solutions when there were unexpected glitches during the trip, he knows everyone and anyone worth knowing to make our trip enjoyable. I was impressed with his fluency in Spanish when he began chatting with my son who had Spanish speaking patients. Vimal Pathak is a terrific Tour Guide, who performs his job with professional pride and joy. You should look him up when you plan your trip to Varanasi and surroundings.Written 24 April 2024

He made sure all of us, especially our elderly parents were well taken care of during the whole tour. He ensured that we don't wait in lines wherever possible, got us the best viewing seats for the Ganga Aarti, gave us great insights into/experience the beautiful history, culture, local life, food, and architecture - he left no stone unturned. We couldn't have covered and experienced this much of Varanasi without Vimal. We have had tour guides in the past, but none of them compare to Vimal and his enigmatic personality. We did a weekend tour through varanasi including all the typical things. Unfortunately we cannot really understand all the positive reviews, as our experience was quiet bad.
The communication with the guide was not always easy (e.g. we wanted to visit the golden temple, which was also part of our tour (to see from outside, but there you cannot really see it) when we then said we wanted to go inside this turned out really complicated although it was mentioned before, that this is possible).
The guide seemed not really know the city well so we did a lot of walking detours and the guide did not explain a lot. He often only startey talking when we explicutly mentioned something, that we read of. Besides when walking through the city he did not really have a look at us, so just walked without looking back, where we are. He did not even ask for our names, thats how uninterested he was.
Additionally e.g. the included visit of the silk factory is a pure scam. They show you a weaving place and then bring you to their shop. For this you drive 40mins, a complete waste of time.
Other parts of the tour are also are also just for selling overpriced stuff, as well as massages. For this the tour itself is too expensive, usually a good guide should prevent you from being scammed and not get commission for it. We often felt like wasting our valuable short time in Varanasi. We would have been better of without a guide.
Still giving two points, as the guide was always on time and went through all the poibts; that were mentioned in the booked iternary. But it was the worst guide we had in any indian city so far.

Dear maam,
🙏🙏.
I am sorry by heart that the tour guide who was appointed for your tour has not made your tour happy and also was not up to the mark as per your opinion.
Being the head of the team of MY TOUR GUIDE , I feel apology and want to put lights on your complaints as the clarification with my explanation.
1)
Communication in the area where you stayed is really bad. As you have booked your hotel by own near the Golden shiva temple. It is very sensitive area. Because of security reasons, probably some special technique is installed there, So network is always disturbing in that area. you might have this problem with guide while using calls or internet. it is very obvious in that area.
2)
Non Hindus generally see the Golden Shiva temple from out side as they don't practice hinduism. If you see the golden Shiva temple from out side ,that doesn't mean that can see complete temple ,only from somewhere partial part can be seen but if any overseas tourist wants to go, can go by having a ticket costs Rs.600/ to see the temple from inside . As per my information, Guide helped you to show the temple from inside as well.
3)
If there was problem with guide, you had three days, you could and should inform us, Guide could be changed anytime on your single call or whatsapp chat. But you did not inform us. So We were not aware with your unhappiness.
4)
Regarding weaving place. It was mentioned in your tour program. But you were not bound to go. you Probably went there, it is very but natural and common that every weaver keeps a outlet to sell his products. It is not scam, it is the way how things go. Prices are probably same but makes feeling high and low on basis of quality, place and economic status of buyers. As per guide told me that you were not forced to buy. As you did not buy anything, was absolutely fine with us because intention of tour was to show the weaving but never is forced to buy.
5)
Anyway, Now I shall prefer , not to appoint this guide, or whomever I appoint in future, will be more careful.
All could be good if you called to change the guide, you were three days, was enough to understand quality of guide. But .. Anyway sorry for having disappointment in the tour by guide we provided.
🙏
Regards
Vimal

We had an excellent experience in Varanasi courtesy Vimal Pathak. He helped us with finalising our itinerary for 2.5 days also arranging sightseeing, cab, boat ride, Ganga Aarti and all. He is well versed with mythology, history as well as science and narrates excellent stories about Banaras. Cherry on top was when he made us taste Banarasi chaat from a shop which was heavily crowded and we wouldn't have dared to order if we were on our own. We will certainly recommend anyone visiting Varanasi to contact Vimal for all the help over there.

I was fortunate to get a personalised tour of the most ancient Indian city Kashi ( also known as Varanasi or Banaras) with Vimal Pathak. And the cherry on the top was, he kindly agreed to show me around in his prized possession - Royal Enfield Bullet. He did mention, it was the first time he is doing it this way.
Now talking about the man himself- what a deep knowledge he possesses of the Indian culture, philosophy and in-depth knowledge of local sights, temples with detailed history. Vimal made sure I was very comfortable by tailoring the tour as per my likings.
‘My Tour Guide Varanasi’ is very professionally organised tour guide service with the elements of Personalization as per the need of customer.
Very happy with the services.
Thanks a lot.

Vimal is an excellent tour guide. He is very well respected in the community and in the tourism industry. He is very pleasant, welcoming, and easy to communicate with (he speaks multiple languages!) We booked rather at the last minute, but that did not stop him from going out of his way to create the best experience. Vimal takes the time to thoroughly explain the symbolism and importance of the various sites and events. The driver he works with was also very professional and always on time. Excellent experience.

Vimal Pathak was our guide in Varanasi, he came to pick us up from our hotel Brij Rama. He has knowledge and has elaborated information of the very old Heritage and historical culture of Varanasi.
He is the most senior experienced guide. He is also president of the tour guide association.
While showing us around, he explained us all about history of all places we visited & he was very funny at times & has a soothing voice, we found out he was a RJ at radio station. Kashi Vishwanath Temple tour with him was a divine experience. Unforgettable evening Ganga Arti was a soulful experience where he had reserved a sitting space for us. We visited all the ghats with him & he explained all the history about them. He was very patient with me as I had a hard time climbing up & down on all the steps due to my knee issues.
He explained us about Sarnath place where Buddha preached his first sermon after enlightenment in Bodh Gaya.
One more unique thing to mention, he takes excellent candid pictures.
We highly recommend him as your tour guide if you visit Varanasi. He was kind enough to send me an item I wanted from Kashi & ship to my city.

Finally seized an opportunity and this trip was being eagerly looked forward to due to corona and schedule related restrictions. And this trip would not have been so memorable and informative, had it not been for Vimal ji. Extremely resourceful and very knowledgeable, he is really expert at what he does. Explained each and every aspect with fine details. Hugely recommended and would look forward to come back to varanasi. Great experience!

I highly recommend Vimal as a tourguide in Varanasi! He is extremely respectful and tailored a daily program specifically for us, including a private boat tour, walk though the old town, sarnath, temples, evening arthi with the best seats, delicious foot spots and more. We spent an entire day together from 6am to 7pm and felt comfortable throughout. Vimal is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his city. He went out of his way to provide us a memorable experience. We could not have asked for more! I definitely recommend his services to anyone visiting Varanasi wanting to learn about this special place from a local!

Were group of 7 incl. elderly parents. Vimalji arranged a lovely tour covering main temples, ghats & historical sites over 3 days. He took particular care in handling elders (wheelchairs etc). He also seemed to know best spots for local food & sari shopping. But most interesting were the morning (mini) bus-rides where he shared stories from the Puranas along with personal anecdotes. Worth it.
