I learnt to enjoy these new experiences, to become part of these varied cultures bTaxi service was very good 💯 💯 And the price was so affordable that anyone can afford. The taxi have always been on time and they inform in advance the details for the scheduled rider, car and driver. The vehicle is in good shape and clean. - 443jacquif0 contributionsLost in TranslationThe driver arrived at our hotel on time. Unfortunately, we soon discovered that he spoke no English and as we speak English only, this was a disadvantage. However, we made the best of it, laughed at the situation and luckily already knew where we wanted to go. He pointed out places of interest on the way and we found it relaxing to be driven from venue to venue throughout the day. He found us a fixer at Kalighat Temple and we managed to gain entry via a back way at this highly important temple. He also took us to the oldest dhaba in Kolkata at almost 100 years old. Yes, we paid a high price for what was, in fact, a taxi service, but we felt he was looking after us, parking near the places we wanted to see. We actually found it amusing that he wasn't able to converse with us but not everyone would appreciate the mishap. I would urge the company concerned to offer a choice of guides proficient in the language of the tourists' choice.Written 18 November 2024
- enricocW6318BC0 contributionsTERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - DO NOT BOOKThis trip was a nightmare from start to finish. In summary, hidden charges (parking, tuk tuks) and low sense of safety (no seat belts, left unattended, zero communication) led us with our worst experience since we arrived in India. Up until our pick-up time, we had received no information from Taxi Bazaar or the driver. We called the Viator helpline and got told to go to a different pick-up point (luckily we didn’t) We called the Indian number on our ticket but no answer. Eventually we got informed via the Viator chat that our driver was on our hotel street and managed to find him. DURING ALL OF THIS, TAXI BAZAAR HAS NOT ANSWERED ONCE TO MY CALL/WHATSAPP MESSAGES. Our driver didn’t speak any english and was speaking in a rude tone, probably asking for payment although we couldn’t understand. The car didn’t have seatbelts which is a serious safety issue considering high risk driving in India. He asked us to pay for petrol but we refused. In Ajmer, he dropped us in what looked like a private parking lot without any information, then we got ushered into a rickshaw and got asked for 400 rupees by the driver to be taken to the mosque. We drove down horrendous narrow streets with terrible traffic (people, rickshaws, donkeys etc.) to then be dropped in another parking lot in the middle of nowhere and get told that we had to walk to the mosque. The walking was the most frightful part as the street was packed with people and due to it being a Friday, we could only see the mosque from the outside anyway. If we could have communicated in english beforehand and be warned of this, we would have happily opted out and avoided this highly stressful experience. In the end we paid 300 rupees for the rickshaw and 100 for the parking. We also paid 150 rupees parking in Pushkar, where the experience was also daunting (we were left unattended to walk down a busy bazaar) but due to helpful locals the experience was overall better. For the rest of the journey, our driver would only speak to ask for money (for tolls? We couldn’t understand) and we tried to explain that we would rather discuss at the end of the journey, with the help of a local that could translate. He also left us in the car unattended while we went for food/restroom, with the windows down, in busy streets, even a roundabout. We felt unsafe. Once in Jodhpur, we got dropped off one street away from our hotel and moved into another rickshaw due to the narrow streets. The tuk tuk driver helped us understand that our car driver expected full payment for the journey (although we paid online) and we then spent a lot of time calling the Taxi Bazaar who eventually picked up and confirmed our payment. WE WAITED A LOT FOR TAXI BAZAAR TO ANSWER THE PHONE FROM ME/THE DRIVER AND IN THE MEANTIME WE WERE LEFT ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET WITH ALL OUR LUGGAGE FEELING UNSAFE. We paid gratuities and left by tuk tuk. We are disappointed that this tour cannot guarantee basic safety and communication via its vendors. I suggest TripAdvisor to remove this tour and vendor.Written 16 November 2024
- LightPacker5996530 contributionsRude and a conGuide was terrible, she didn’t give her name. She was arrogant and rude and the limited information she shared was fictional as we suspected at the time and confirmed later. She appeared surprised that we wanted to visit the museum, despite it being part of the itinerary and when we visited, it was closed! She was determined to take us to a marble shop and either ignored or spoke over us when we politely declined. Instead, we went to a nearby cafe to discuss whether we wanted to continue the tour due to her attitude and lack of information shared. After she paced in front of our table, we decided to continue to the border ceremony with her, despite her telling us we needed to leave the ceremony prior to the end as she wanted to get back. We were taken to a ‘top restaurant with a famous chef in house’ which we didn’t want to go as we suspected it was the usual tourist trap whereby the guide receives commission. It was ok, full of tourists, over priced and certainly not as described. We had just wanted a local cafe but our requests were again repeatedly ignored. Very disappointed as my daughter was really looking forward to this experience and had researched the history but wanted to visit the museum and learn more from the guide. Complete rip off and avoidWritten 16 November 2024
