An off-roading jeep-ride through the jungles of Sathram Thekkady where you would be at a pace of your own, with the chance of some rare wildlife sightings in the calling…best of all, you will not face blaring honks of racing commuters! Because you will be in the stillness of a jungle, with a rhythm of the wild!
The 4-hour trail will start at Gavi gate resting place, which you will reach after being picked up from your stay at Thekkady. With early morning, morning and afternoon time slots to choose from, you can pick a timing convenient for you for this trail. At the meeting point, you will see your gateway to the rugged adventure ahead- a path covered with low-lying tree branches, shrubs and, shrouded in mists too if you choose the early morning slot. So, hold your breath, as the jeep with an expert driver on the wheel, wades through rivers, tall grasses amidst a picturesque landscape of Shola forests, cascading waterfalls, cardamom plantations.
You will be stopping by at three important viewpoints that will offer beautiful views of the valleys, and Sabarimala too. Make sure to have enough camera rolls handy to capture these vistas and the wildlife you may spot during your trail. The region is home to some of the endangered species such as the Nilgiris Tahr, the lion-tailed macaque and exotic avifauna as well.
While you enjoy these visual treats, you will see wisps of clouds, covering the valley, scattering, culminating in the wild beauty of nature. As you head back to Thekkady for breakfast, the trail you leave behind will remind you time and again…of the secrets of the forests.
