Ride in a protected natural reserve accompanied by the music of colorful and beautiful birds. Enjoy small creeks of pristine water, nestled between large native trees and, with luck, see and hear the howling monkeys who live in this area. Continue your day by eating a traditional lunch, made with fresh, regionally-grown products. End the magical day spending the night in a traditional coffee farm, located in the mountains, splashed with colors from our coffee landscape. Day 2: Valle de Cocora and Salento – Hiking in the Cradle of the Wax Palm. (B,L) Discover and hike one of the most beautiful and interesting routes in the Coffee Region. Tropical woods surrounded by Wax Palm Trees, the beautiful sound of birds and an unparalleled landscape that leads to the Home of the Hummingbirds, a nature reserve that will touch you with its wings. Learn about the biodiversity of the cloud forests, the animals that live here, and the importance of this ecosystem for our region. After seeping yourself in nature, visit Salento, a village filled with charm and magic, with colorful balconies, artisan stores, culture, and a history that will take you on a journey to the past. To recharge batteries, there’s nothing better than a traditional lunch of trout and fried plantain.

We had an amazing 10 day vacation in Colombia and this was the most expensive activity/accommodation on our itinerary which was not a budget one. For two days (4 people) of touring and one night in the farmhouse, we spent nearly $1600 when a night at the Sofitel Santa Clara in Cartagena was $350 per room and a night at the Charlee in Medellin was $150 per room. Once we saw the price of food and other tours in the country, we realized how much we overpaid for an activity that had some good parts and some low parts.

For starters, we were not informed until the last minute that Arvey was off biking with another client and we had a bunch of different guides and drivers, all of whom ended up being knowledgable and lovely, but it was not the personal experience of geting to know a couple that everyone else described. On Day 1, we went to a nature reserve that had a beautiful waterfall but was a second rate attraction in Colombia as there were no animals to see. We had Christian as a guide who is an enthusiastic young botanist and did manage to interest my 13 year old son in the plants and flowers.

Then we went to the farmhouse where Elisabeth was lovely and really passionate about the coffee process and gave us a great tour of all of the crops that they're growing.

Be forewarned that the farmhouse is miles from everywhere. Unfortunately for us, the electricity went out in a storm and there was absolutely nothing to do. The accommodations were fine (although no power meant cold showers) but they were not the Santa Clara for the price we paid. It continued to storm all night and we couldn't bike but did take the Jeep Willys to Estacion Pereira and traipsed through the mud to go on the other modes of transport.

All in all, it felt like lots of money and driving for activities that didn't quite work out as expected or desired.

Hello Mrs. Allison. Thank you for your comment. We regret what happened, unfortunately a climatic phenomenon occurred that rarely happens in this part of the country and for this reason we lost energy and of course hot water. It should be remembered that the value was not only for the accommodation, it was for a PRIVATE plan for 4 people that included transfer from another city to our farm and then to the airport, internal transport, complete meals, guide in English, insurance every day, taxes and accommodation. All this represented in a personalized service and total support. We really enjoyed your visit, Elizabeth, Daniel, Cristian and the entire team of our company gave everything to provide excellent care, it was unfortunate what happened. Thanks to your comment we have been able to take some corrective measures and we hope to have the pleasure of receiving your visit in the future, to serve you much better.
