About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- sergiohV9217VG0 contributionsBest guide in the comuna (Kevin)The tour guide Kevin was amazing. The best guide I ever had. Was an amazing person and super welcoming. He showed us around the comuna and even let us watch a soccer game played by the locals which was the highlight of our night.Written 14 March 2024
- tigerleo0 contributionsGreat trip but too longThis tour is interesting and our guide was lovely, authentic and knowledgeable but it took four hours and really could have been done in two. At the end it felt we were obliged to stop at various places so we could spend more money, which I understand but it all felt a bit too commercial in the end. Very well organised transportation with nice touches of ice cream and bus fares already sorted.Written 14 March 2024
- danjU6022LO0 contributionsIncredibleComuna 13 TourIncredible tour with our guide Kevin, what a guy! Gave us a lot of information on and insight into Comuna 13’s history, how the neighborhood changed and how he helped contribute to that change…overall 10/10 tour, recommend it to anyone looking to visit Medellin!Written 10 March 2024
- colleens4690 contributionsExcellent TourThis was an excellent tour with a really knowledgeable guide (Oscar). We normally don’t do tours but this was a fantastic way to get to know about this historic neighborhood. We learned lots about Medellin and Colombia.Written 6 March 2024
- Jasmine38Chichester0 contributionsWell worth a visitI would highly recommend a visit, ideally, with a local guide to support the area. Our guide was an ex drug addict who had really turned his life around. It's a very vibrant area and perfectly safe. However it was much busier and commercial than I had expected, although a lot of fun. Some excellent street art, hip hop, break dancing, street food - and lots of shops and stalls. The escalators were a great innovation. This place now gets more visitors than anywhere else!Written 11 February 2024
- SteveJK180 contributionsWHAT A TRULY MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE THIS WAS !!!!WOW WOW WOW, what an amazing Tour and fantastic Tour Guide, thank you WALTER. I rarely go on organised tours but I am so glad I went on Comuna 13 Graffiti Tour as the sites and sounds were outstanding and I will remember these forever. WALTER has such a huge knowledge of the Comuna (he was brought up there) and everyone seemed to know him, which enhance the feeling I got of belonging. He is putting back into his community by showing us tourists the area and sharing his huge knowledge of the Comuna's history....he even sponsors one of the huge painted graffiti pieces. I do not want to spoil your experience so all I will say is this is by far and away the best 4 hours I have spent since I have been travelling Central American in the past 4 weeks. Thank you WALTER and the people of Comuna 13 for being so friendly and welcoming.Written 30 January 2024
- BackPacker5403020 contributionsAn outstanding experienceThe tour was absolutely fantastic. Oscar was an amazing guide, providing us very clear, informative and in the same time personal accounting of the history of the Comuna 13 as he was grown down the hill. For being a graffiti artist himself and having contributed to some of the wall paintings in Comuna 13, it was as if an inhabitant opened us the door of the Comuna and welcomed us. We were there my wife and I and our three kids, and all agreed it was our best experience in Medellin. A must.Written 20 December 2023
- Klewb20 contributionsA must see tour!!Sebastian (Crazy Face) is one of the best tour guides and performers that I’ve ever experienced. His personal knowledge of Communa 13 and his connection to the neightbood made us feel like we were with a celebrity. He made the tour very personal, welcoming and the history relatable. The experience of understanding the transition of this neighborhood from what is was to what it is, was insightful and inspiring. I would highly recommended!!Written 24 November 2023
- 787dedes0 contributionsIf you’re visiting Communa 13, you MUST go with a Casa Kolacho guide! The most authentic and local experience to have!I wanted to do a Communa 13 tour and my friend recommended @graffititourcasakolacho on Instagram. And what a great recommendation that was! First off - we were lucky that no one else booked that day so we had a private tour. Sara, our tour guide was so amazing - she grew up in the area, is friends with lots of the people in the suburb and really helps you understand how Communa 13 has evolved over time. She is super friendly and knowledgeable and kind, and really made us feel like we have a new friend in Colombia. She is part of the Casa Kolacho community which is an organisation that helps the youth and people in Communa 13 express themselves through art, graffiti, music, dance, and so much more. It’s an amazing organisation that really reflects the authenticity of the area. Sara taught us all about the complex history of the area - explaining the good and bad in a really informative way. She taught us about the graffiti art, explaining the symbolism and a bit of context on each of the artists as well. We saw hip hop dancers, tried local street food, tasted delicious Colombian coffee, and even tried a delicious mango verde popsicle which was so tasty. The tour finished at Casa Kolacho, the community centre that has become a home to so many. There, we even got to do our own graffiti tag on a wall which was so much fun! If you’re looking for a really fun and authentic experience that supports the local community then look no further. Book your Communa 13 tour with Casa Kolacho!Written 17 October 2023
- sophiahayward0 contributionsIncredible Tour, Highly Recommend 🇨🇦🇨🇴This was an incredible tour with lots of information about the history and culture not only of Comuna 13 but also Medellin in general. We booked a private tour to accommodate my 81 year old Grandpa and they gave us a reasonable price. Our guide was Oscar who was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and kind. If I could give 6/5 stars I would. Este fue un recorrido increĂble con mucha informaciĂłn sobre la historia y la cultura no solo de la Comuna 13 sino tambiĂ©n de MedellĂn en general. - ciamacm0 contributionsWaste of time and moneyThe tour guide was very nice, but overall a giant waste of time and money. It’s outrageously overpriced my local standards. Very little of the actual tour is spent looking at graffiti. Instead, hours are spent on public transportation and waiting around and taking breaks. Moreover, the tour doesn’t go anywhere that you couldn’t easily discover as a tourist by yourself, even if you don’t speak Spanish. I’d highly recommend avoiding.Written 9 October 2023
- X8947IYwilliaml0 contributionsA day wasted: much better to do on your ownThe Comuna 13 Tour took over 5 hours (advertised as four) and only involved half an hour actually walking around Comuna 13, which is now completely safe and touristy around the escalators. Our guide, while a charming young Colombian, delivered a 45 minute lecture on the history of the comuna while our group of 9 stood on a metro cable platform, which was a completely one-sided and inaccurate account praising the army, police, and paramilitaries for forcing out the guerrillas and making the arrea safe again. We spent half an hour on an unrequested and unnecessary beer break at a buddy’s bar, and took a short detour down an empty set of stairs and then back to the main walkway which our guide claimed was an experience of the “real, authentic, non-touristic” Comuna 13. At 90,000 COP, I felt cheated out of one of my three free days in Medellin. Do it yourself.Written 16 August 2023

- ProfRS0 contributionsVery smooth, comfortable, educational tourWe booked through "Get your guide" and had a really fun tour with English-speaking guide Walter, who was highly competent, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable (injecting some of his own personal experiences into the discussion). It was a busy holiday weekend, but Walter did a great job keeping everyone together and showing us quite a lot of Comuna 13. Highly recommend this tour!Written 12 June 2023

Our visit to Commune 13 was a transformative experience, both emotionally and intellectually. This tour allowed us to open our eyes and minds to understand the history and challenges that marked this community, as well as admire its incredible transformation process. It is inspiring to see how, despite everything, they managed to become a symbol of hope and resilience.
We want to thank especially our guide Angel, who not only shared with us his knowledge clearly and passionately, but also became a true teacher. His way of narrating events, combined with his connection to the place, made this experience deeply enriching. Thank you for exceeding our expectations and making us feel so welcome!
A small suggestion would be to offer plan options that include more time to enjoy certain spaces, especially those where you need to line up to take pictures in sculptures and murals. This would allow visitors to take even more advantage of every corner of this fascinating place.
Finally, thank you very much to MedellĂn Travel Group for their excellent communication, always clear and on time, which made our experience much easier. We certainly recommend this tour to those who wish to connect in an authentic way with the history and culture of Medellin.

Cristian was an outstanding guide during our tour in Colombia! We had an absolute blast exploring the country with him. Not only did he share his extensive knowledge of the area, but he also seemed to know everyone, from local vendors to restaurant owners. His connections and insider tips made our experience truly unique and memorable. Cristian's enthusiasm and dedication to his work are contagious, and we can't recommend him enough! 5 stars!
P.s. he even sent us spots where to visit for the rest of our stay.

This was a fun day !! Our guide, Walter watched over us carefully ! He was easy going, lots of laughs, and very informative.
Columa 13 was exhilarating !! The cable cars, light-rail, and busses were smooth & clean & easy ! Thankfully, lots of trees for shade.
Colorful street art on every building, every available wall & each with a story. Interesting people, all ages & origins. Fashions & languages from all corners of the globe ! Everyone exploring. Climbing. Smiling. Selling. Party music pumping. Motorcyclists weaving through the crowd & beeping around each corner. Homes & shops cleverly inserted into every crevice. Energetic dancers proudly sharing their passion & a party vibe all the way up the hill ! Escalators most of our way down !! Neon colors in every direction, creative art on every surface. Rooftop bars and killer views. Cocktails & fried favorites every 10 feet ! An outrageous, oversized Gorilla, a bird with wings spread, Jesus welcoming the masses.

Our tour guide through Exoticca took us in a bus with a nice walk around this area with all the street art and learned a lot about the history of the area. Then back in the bus to the cable car ride up to La Sierra. What a view of Medellin from the cable car ride! Was really a neat tour!

I went a guide Dayana . Very friendly very knowledgeable. She comes from the area. She kept our group together ande stops at areas group members found interesting and that were not on the show. She gave us 3 show stops, traditional music, rap dance and stand up comedy. Very amusing, two in Spanish and English. I recommend Dayana as a great tour guide for Spanish and persons who speak English and a little Spanish like myself.

Visiting Commune 13 was an impressive experience. The transformation and resilience of this community is reflected in its vibrant urban art and inspiring history, beautifully explained by our guide, Emily, who was kind and very professional. The Metrocable tour offered incredible views of Medellin and a unique connection to its culture and people. This tour combines history, art and landscapes in a unique way. Undoubtedly an unmissable experience for those visiting Medellin.

We were a bit disappointed with the tour. The place itself is unique and amazing but our tour guide lacked in enthusiasm and detail. Even though he was from MedellĂn, he wasn’t from comuna 13 and sounded like he was regurgitating a script, rather than telling impactful stories. We wish we had booked with casa kolacho, a local cultural centre in Comuna 13

Thanks to Angel we were able to learn about the history of commune 13 in particular, from a unique perspective in addition to explaining the meaning of its graffiti. We really enjoyed his company and he showed us places in commune 13 itself (art gallery, coffee shop, popsicle shop, etc.).

We enjoyed this tour but 2 out of 3 hours was spent on public transport including the cable car. During the cable car ride (which lasted around 45 min), Walter didn't share too much information to set the context about the place, Medellin, etc.
The tour itself was good, and Walter talked about the graffiti, significant past events in the area etc., but didn't go into as much depth as I would've liked, especially given that it's a paid tour focused on a small part of the larger Medellin city.

Walter was an exceptional guide and he was well informed, professional and had a good sense of humor. Wow, we learned so much about Comuna 13 and it's transformation. Walking through the area was such fun as we viewed all the artists' murals. Great tour for your Medellin visit.

Buenas, si decido hacer el tour a las 3:00 de la tarde será muy tarde para tomar fotos o ver claro la comuna 13?

I could See how you could Spend 6 hours here if you spent quality time reviewing the murals, browsing in the art galleries, shopping in the shops and eating in the restaurants, but the tour itself doesn’t take 6 hours.
