I recently went water rafting in Colombia, Medellín, with my peers from the University of San Diego grad program, and it was an unforgettable experience! Our guide, Didier, and the rest of the team were fantastic. Even though some parts of the rafting were a bit scary for some of us, the guides made sure the experience was fun and inclusive for everyone. They kept the energy high and ensured we all felt comfortable and safe. What stood out the most was how patient and approachable Didier and the other guides were. Even though I asked tons of questions throughout the trip, they never seemed bothered—in fact, they were always excited to share more and made the journey even more entertaining with their stories and tips. It felt like they truly cared about our experience. The communication with the guides was clear, and the safety measures were top-notch. I also felt incredibly secure knowing that we were surrounded by individual kayakers who helped ensure everyone’s safety. It gave me peace of mind, and I could really focus on enjoying the adventure. This experience not only allowed me to enjoy the beauty of Colombia but also brought me closer to my classmates, building trust and strengthening our bond as a group. We’ll definitely be talking about this trip for a long time. Highly recommend it!

Be careful that you’re actually booking this tour! Despite this “small group” tour being the only tour to Guatapé listed on ExpeditionColombia’s website, some confusion during the booking process led to us being booked on another company’s tour bus of 40 people that included stops to a petting zoo with ponys on the way. This was a vastly different experience than we’d been sold on the site, and we left the tour early. When we asked for a refund, they refused, explaining that they actually offered three tours, and that we hadn’t booked the small group tour. Though the website lists this small group tour under the “Adventure” category (and lists no other Guatapé tours) apparently we’d been booked on the “Adventure” tour which is a completely separate and different option. Despite explaining this confusion, ExpeditionColombia blamed me for the miscommunication and was not willing to refund the tour, even though we departed from the tour group before even getting to Guatapé. Disappointing experience overall, be careful when booking with this company!

I had an amazing trek with expedition Colombia. Chris, our guide was super organized and very knowledgeable of the area. He kept us on track, together, and gave us great tips and facts about the area. He clearly cares about the land as he knows all the community members and picked up all the trash we saw. The waterfall was magical and such a fun hike. Totally recommend while you’re in the area!

Our view was amazing! We took lots of group and couple photos! Everything was green. We walked through the forest and were able to enjoy nature. The guides were helpful and friendly. We felt safe at all times. Also, it was our first experience eating by a river. It’s definitely worth taking this tour if you love nature and adventure.

Brilliant morning! Picked up right on time by Marcos, English speaking Colombian, who proceeded to give me LOTS of information about Colombia and Medellin specifically. No topic was off limits and he was happy to give his personal opinions. I learned loads! The trek itself was great. Tough in places as it can be almost vertical but ropes are fixed which REALLY helps! Waterfalls were nice and Marcos knowledge continues with fauna and birding. We made good time, which probably explains why I was exhausted :) We didn't spend time at La Cathedral really though we walked through and you can see it. It's not really good etiquette to speak on Escobar so whilst Marcos was happy to, I decided to steer clear of the subject directly for long and instead discussed other aspects of Medellin. On the way back we stopped for freshly squeezed orange juice (much needed!) and I have to say the whole half day was like hiking with a friend. I'd recommend this as a good hike in beautiful scenery where you will learn a lot about Colombia.

By the far the most amazing thing ive ever done! Ive been ziplining - atvs - parasailing - jet ski but this blows them all out of the water! Such an adrenaline rush and will be looking for even higher challenges!

I am a first-timer for rafting but totally enjoyed the experience. The tour started with a delicious homemade Colombian lunch prepared by our guide, who then took the time to explain the safety rules before we embarked on our journey. The entire adventure was incredibly fun and enjoyable, as we rafted along the river, taking in the natural landscape and learning about the culture and history of the area. The guides were very professional and took good care of all the participants, ensuring an unforgettable and safe experience. The tour is a 10 out of 10!"

Fantastic day. Transport, food, tour guide all premium. The guy really knows how to navigate the boat so you're in safe hands. You also come away with GoPro videos. Would highly recommend. Beautiful scenery too.

We booked a private trip for a large group. They were very responsive and accommodating on WhatsApp. The lunch they gave us beforehand was filling and delicious. The trip down the river was adrenaline-pumping and an absolute blast. Despite us all being beginners the guides were AMAZING and helped us all feel very comfortable and safe. Highly recommend.
