For this price, I had expected a more professional and personalized service.
Very interesting tour and fascinating to see the places you have read about in books and seen on television. And incredible to realize that the lovely city that is Medellin now was a war zone thirty years ago due to the narcism of one man. My guide was very knowledgeable about the topic and had answers to all my questions. That said, I did feel more like a number than a true guest. It was a private 1:1 tour, but I did not feel the guide had any interest in the person he spent 4 hours with. He did tell me about his past addictions, which seemed out of place for me. At the Cathedral, he bought water and a chocolate bar for himself and he didn't offer me anything, nor did he even alert me to the fact that I could buy something there. Very strange. He was also was attending personal matters towards the end of the tour. Several times, I had to ask the guide for a moment to take pictures and he never proactively offered to take a picture of me. We had to do everything quickly and I was already back at my Airbnb in less than 4 hours, feeling slightly confused and USD170 poorer. The day before this trip, we had a full day excursion to Guatape with five people including bus, boat tour, lunch and guided tour for the same amount. So in short: It wasn't a bad experience, but for USD170 I do expect a more professional and personalized service.

          A Great Introduction to Medellin
After picking us up at our airbnb in Laureles, Carlos led us on a private tour of the city. Included were a ride on the cable cars, a visit to Comuna 13 and the Plaza Boteros. With only a short time to spend in Medellin, we were able to get a good sense of the city, its past, its present and its possible future. Carlos was knowledgeable, engaging and willing to share his thoughts on past and current Colombian events. He even gave us the name of a great coffee shop in the neighborhood where we were staying! I highly recommend this tour to anyone trying to get their initial bearings in this fascinating and beautiful city.

          Incredible Opportunity
Such an incredible, once in a lifetime experience. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone interested in the Escobar family. Gloria was very welcoming and open to any and all question you may have about her, her family, or the cartel. I am very grateful to Medellin travels and Alex the guide/driver/translator for providing this opportunity.

          Great Day / Great Guide
What a fabulous tour! We started by taking the Metro and gondola(s) up to Arvi. Fascinating to see the life up in the hills and then encounter a sea of green below. Definitely ask to include a 30-45 min walk into the canopy as part of your tour (and maybe plan to come back for a whole day in the park). Then down to Plaza Botero which was magical including lunch outside overlooking the sculptures and the city life. And finally up to the delightful and colorful chaos and energy of Comuna 13. So much to see, hear, taste and experience. Our guide, Carlos, was amazing. (Carlos Medellin-contact me so I can return your independiente hat) So friendly, thoughtful and filled with interesting stories and anecdotes about Medellin, its history, culture, food. He’s really special and he took extra care to make sure that my mom and I had a fabulous day.

Andres Gonzales - the best Pablo Escobar tour guide
We took a private Pablo Escobar tour with Andres Gonzales, and he was an excellent guide. We toured the cities where Pablo conducted his life and tried hiding from his enemies. The Parque which the government sponsored as they demolushed his Palace is rather eye opening. The deaths he was involved with amounted to 46k people, so he was truly a wicked man, and a narcissist. Always on the move. Andres was an excellent guide and the tour was quite revealing of the history of Columbia. I highly recommend Andres! He was professional, very knowledgeable and very pleasant. We enjoyed his company and are proud to know him. Take the tour with him; you won't be dissatisfied. He's GREAT!.

          Take this tour with Carlos
Carlos Restrepo was our guide and he did a great job. He was very personable, spoke English well, and was very informative. He did the tour in an organized fashion and told us about all the neighborhoods so we felt like we got a little more than just Pablo info. To top it off - he was a good driver😜

Amazing Transformation of Previously Dangerous Area
Very cool to learn about the transformation of Medellin following the Escobar Era. It was amazing to see the effects of arts and culture have such an impact in keep a community in harmony. I really appreciated how passionate my guide was to teach me about his experiences growing up here.

This tour was very fun and informative. Our guide John was extremely friendly and energetic. He told the story of Pablo that was nicely intertwined with the places we were visiting. We were never rushed throughout the entire time and it was a great experience!

          Amazing tour guide
Out guide John was amazing, he taught us so much about the history of Comuna 13 and what it was like growing up in the city. He was so passionate about this city and made this experience unforgettable for us. He was very accommodating to my grandmother who couldn't walk very well. He was kind and so knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this tour enough, the story of Communal 13 is tragic yet shows the resilience of this city and it's people. John showed us this, and was so great we booked a second tour with him. Cannot recommend this tour and guide more! John and this tour was one fight highlights if our trip to Medellin.

Highly Recommend Great way to see Medellin
It was a great half day tour. Saw exactly what I wanted to see and a lot more too (rode metro train for eg). David was a knowledgable, professional and friendly host. Gustavo a proficient and safe driver in both peak hour traffic and the narrow windy roads of Commune 13. Prompt and efficient too w lot of interesting info regarding Medellin. I got a real good start to see and understanding the city in this tour. Thanks guys

          Strong recommendation (incl. La Catedral)
Very good and enthusiastic guide (John) willing to share all information and perspectives. Very good English level. We went also to La Catedral, which we definitely recommend. The tour is very expensive but very much worth the money for the private tour.

This tour was incredible! Carlos was our guide, and he was wonderful. He picked us up on time at our hotel, and took us out to El Penol, telling us about the area and answering all of our questions. El Penol itself is an intense climb, but the views are so worth it! And then we were able to go into the town of Guatape, wander around, and had a great lunch at a restaurant recommended by Carlos. And, after seeing the multiple group tours all being herded around, we were so glad to have booked a private tour-it’s definitely worth the cost! Overall it was a great day and one we will not forget!

First, we had an all day private tour to El Penol, Guatape, and at our last minute request, they took us on a side tour of El Carmen del Vibroal. Danielle was our excellent guide speaking near perfect English and going to great trouble to find us the best restaurant while helping us with our food order explaining every item and recommending dishes according to our taste. She guided us through every site with her vast knowledge and took the time to try to understand our interests and customizing the trip to our individual wants and needs. I would highly recommend Danielle and would request her for your guided tour.

Second, was the transfer back to the airport to depart. We were glad to see Marcello as our driver again and he was very prompt to pick us up at 3 am. Always helpful and excellent navigating the streets and roads on both trips.

We are very pleased with the level of service and attention this company provided. We have travel all over the world and by far Daniella, Marcello and Medellin Travel had been the best ... without question.

David, thank you very much for taking your time in writing this beautiful review. We appreciate you letting others know of our attention to detail and the impeccable service we as a cohesive team provide. Coming from a seasoned World class traveler as yourself, It's music to my ears to hear that we are the best tour company that you have hired in the whole World! Thanks for emphasizing that our guides speak perfect English and are knowledgeable, this is why we have the #1 El Peñol and Guatape Tour in town. Who you hire for a tour company will undeniably dictate the outcome of your experience. We don't just do tours, we create "Unforgettable Experiences", as our slogan in our logo says. Some people make the painful mistake of taking the undesireable and less than stellar bus tour, crammed with noisy people yelling, coughing and throwing up all over the place...you get what you pay for. Thank you for making the savvy decision in hiring us, we only do private tours. This allows flexibility in regards to bathroom stops along the road, shopping, special upgrade accomodations such as the boat ride around the lakes, coffee tour add on, and the upgrade you guys petitioned for which we made possible. We love our guests and love what we do with passion! Thank you once again for being such fine guests. We will be delighted to have you back here with us soon! Thanks for referring Medellin Travels to friends and family! Warm regards, Alex from Medellin Travels Medellintravels.com @medellin.travels

Great Tour!!! This was my second tour with Alex on my short trip to Medellin and he delivered an amazing day once again! First tour was the Pablo Escobar Godfather tour which was incredible as well, (got to meet Gloria Escobar, Pablo’s beloved sister!).
Alex runs a first class operation with Medellin Travels and his tours are top notch! Picked me up on time from my hotel in a brand new SUV and took my cousin and myself on a beautiful drive through through the mountains into Guatape! Touring with Alex is like touring with a friend, he has a vast knowledge about the city of Medellin.

Alex, thank you very much for an incredible few days! Anyone looking to book tours in Medellin, I highly recommend you to reach out to Medellin Travels!

Luis was awesome, just as other previous reviews have indicated. Bilingual skill was a plus and his English was excellent. Luis was personable and had a great sense of humor. He picked us up from our airbnb, and all six of us who were taken on the private tour in the van loved him from the beginning! The tour to Guatape was great and we stopped along the way at a couple of spots (highly recommend the breakfast spot Luis took us to), as well as catching a coffee farm tour (additional cost which we paid happily) on the way back to Medellin. The town of Guatape is beautiful and the climb up the rock was challenging but rewarding. I would highly recommend taking this tour and asking for Luis- you won't be disappointed!

Great experience! John, our tour guide, picked us up from our hotel in the morning and drove us to Guatape. We climbed the 700 steps to the top of La Piedra to stunning views. Wow! We then drove to the nearby town of Guatape which was quaint, colorful and photogenic. John took us to some good shopping areas for chocolate, coffee, emeralds and other souvenirs. The tour company and John were great and arranged a birthday surprise for one of our tour members at a local restaurant - thank you for making this a memorable and fantastic day for all of us!

Carlos did an excellent job of educating us and telling us which were the best places in the area. He made sure we visited all the sights and gave us space and time to explore on our own. Guatapé felt very safe and alive.

This was a wonderful day trip. We started with a coffee tour which was extremely interesting and the coffee was wonderful. We didn’t end up climbing the rock because it was too crowded but the views from the base of the rock were beautiful. We did a boat ride on the lake which was wonderful We had a fantastic lunch in town and just wandered around. It was a perfect day.

I was a little concerned initially with spending the money on a private tour, but I am very glad I did. Our guide Oscar was very nice, professional and knowledgeable. Transport was very smooth and comfortable and our time with Oscar was very pleasant. His English is also very strong, no communication issues at all. Highly recommended.

We love touring guests who are equally jovial and a pleasure to deal with just like all of our team members here at Medellin Travels. Thanks for letting fellow travelers know that you wished we had done all of your other tours that you booked with other companies here in Medellin and other cities. This happens very frequently; you book an awesome, one of a kind tour with Medellin Travels and get pampered by us, then the next day your tour is with another company and it turns out to be a long day with a crummy tour guide who doesn't explain thoroughly, can't speak appropriate, comprehensive English, sees you as a number and is always on his phone, texting. As comical as this analogy sounds, it is an everyday occurence for us, when guests call us at the office or write like you did, wishing they had booked all of their tours in Medellin and other cities like Cartagena with us, including our personalized airport shuttle service. We appreciate you conveying this though as it may help other travelers in making a savvy decision in hiring Medellin Travels for all of their travel needs. Thanks again, we appreciate you dearly. Warm regards, Alex from Medellin Travels Medellintravels.com

This was an amazing experience with great people. Ana was able to tell me all about the places we visited and was so friendly and easy to talk to. I opted to do the waterfall and private boat tour which I would highly recommend. At the end of the tour, our driver took us to his favorite coffee spot and I had the best coffee I’ve ever had. This was a great last day in Columbia thanks to my guide and my driver. Highly recommend.

*Likely to sell out: Based on Viator’s booking data and information from the provider from the past 30 days, it seems likely this experience will sell out through Viator, a Tripadvisor company.
