The small group environment was fun and Jose was a terrific guide. No question the best experience we’ve had in our week in Cartagena. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS ONEWritten 4 February 2025

We had a great time and the end result of coconut rice, mojarra, empanadas and patacones was delicious. It was great to be in a group of 3 other couples experiencing the event.Written 29 January 2025

- 975davinaa0 contributionsGreat experience! The cooking class was a beautiful intro into Cartagena’s culture and culinary scene. We made the local dish with coconut rice, baked fish, plantains, empanadas and the local drink from sugar cane. The meal was a 10/10!!! Also the chef and sous chef were such a vibe! We danced and cooked and they explained the meaning behind everything we made. Only downside was the drinks that we bought before the class (optional) in the restaurant was super expensive! We were told that we’d get a discount, but it was $16 USD which was like half the price of the class itself! Probably some of the most expensive drinks we purchased on the trip. But outside of that, the cooking class was fun and a must add to your itinerary! Add in an extra hour or so for eating the meal after cooking, also be aware that you are standing the entire time.Written 26 January 2025

- lubootvarna0 contributionsAmaizing authentic experience! It was a great, authentic experience! The chef and the sous-chef, who did the English translation, led the class with great attention to detail, were kind to everyone, and had a good sense of humor. There was nice background music, and we all danced in the kitchen during the wait time while frying. We were proud of the meals we cooked and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the end.Written 4 January 2025

- Getaway7024560 contributionsCartagena Cooking ExperienceI highly recommend this cooking class. There was a chef and an assistant who spoke English. The two ladies for fun and helped us. They would demonstrate and each set of people had a work station to complete the same thing. They allowed us to video so we could remember how to do things once we got home. They emailed us the recipes. The evening ended with us eating the meal we cooked. I am so glad we did this cooking class in the old part of Cartagena.Written 31 December 2024

- 533sashab0 contributionsMust do experienceAbsolutely amazing experience, a must do in Cartagena! I've done several cooking classes around the world and this one is one of the best. Attentive stuff, every step explained well, everything is paced to make sure nobody is bored but all get attention. Extremely lovely chef and su-chef (our translator as well). The meal we cooked was delicious and so easy to cook back home. We danced, took pictures, got to know each other over a meal - all in all 10 out of 10, really made our visit special.Written 23 December 2024

I signed us up for this salsa/champeta dance class and my husband wasn't too happy about it. But we ended up having an amazing time, and he ended up being so happy we did it. It is so much fun! I highly recommend this class with this team -Jeff, Charlie and Jorge. They taught in such a way that it was easy to learn. We were there with another couple and a group of 4 friends. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and the music was energetic and lively. The rooftop had a nice breeze, and there are fans circulating,so even though Cartegena is hot, we didn't get overheated. They also provide drinks and water to stay hydrated. I would highly recommend this experience; If we return to Cartegena in the future, I would definitely sign us up again!

What a great time I had with the guys at their rooftop studio!
We were invited up to an amazing rooftop with a nice view and treated as though we were family!
I got to know our small group whilst chatting over water and beer. Which is nice as I was a solo traveller.
After the introductions, we started to learn the steps one by one, as individuals.
Once we had the basic moves down, we were paired up to practice our new moves with a partner.
Then, we were challenged by having to freestyle our moves to a song. Difficult, but fun!
We learned Salsa, Bachata & chapeta.
All were fun, but I particularly liked the African inspired Chapeta, as it is about freestyle rhythm and connecting the body & soul with the beat of the music!
This was great fun as a solo traveller and as a total novice to the world of dance.
I would highly recommend taking this class, whether you are solo or with a partner or a newbie or experienced dancer!
Great job guys!!

This class was SO much fun! If you are in doubt, just do it. I'm 67 and have never danced at all, but, what the heck, I'm on vacation, right? Both the instructor and the videographer were funny guys and VERY patient. We learned 3 separate dances, and as we "mastered" each, we each danced individually with the instructor, and the camera guy captured it. At the end of the class, we were emailed with our own personal video for practicing at home. I must say that the included wine and shots of rum did loosen me up a bit!

The dance instructor and the translator were great and I have no complaints about either of them! Whoever coordinates/manages this event is poor at communicating. The address listed is without a building number and none of the taxi drivers knew where to take us. The contact number is not on WhatsApp which makes it difficult for international travelers from outside of Colombia to ask for help beforehand. Though the rooftop is nice, the entrance is through what I think was someone's home though I can't be sure and at first glance - it seems as though it was going to be a scam (especially without any description or forewarning of what the building looks like). Lastly, to get to the rooftop, you have to climb a steep ladder which was not accessible for everyone who had signed up and paid for this experience in my family (my older mom and my younger niece).
I paid for 8 adults, and 7 of us went (3 of which were children) and wish I could've gotten a partial refund.

Teachers made sure that everyone was comfortable and able to follow the choreography even those of us with no experience. We not only learnt some new steps but also got a better understanding of the Colombian culture and music. Wasn’t too sure whether to book it at first but would definitely go again and recommend to anyone visiting Cartagena.

This class was one of the highlights of our trip. My husband doesn’t like dancing much so when he suggested we do a dance class on our Cartagena trip I was so excited. Our instructors, Kevin & Jorge were amazing and they made the class so welcoming and fun, especially for beginners such as ourselves. We learned salsa, bachata, and champeta. I loved that the instructors took the time to get to know us and also taught us about Cartagena culture. It’s a small space and class size so you also get to know the people in the group which is nice. I was a part of the first class for 2024 which made the class feel even more special. They also provide water, beer, and shots during the class which was a nice touch since it’s so hot & humid in Cartagena. I highly recommend this experience if you’re looking for some fun and a workout, you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I had so much fun with this dance class! It was our favorite experience from our trip to Cartagena!
The class is great for beginners and introduces you to the foundational steps for salsa, bachata, and champeta. The instructors break down the steps in an easy to understand way and make sure you’re enjoying yourself. My husband had never taken a dance class before but was able to follow the moves and take the lead by the end of the night.
The rooftop offers beautiful sunset views. We ended up having the class to ourselves, so the setting and dancing made it feel very romantic.
Additionally, Jorge was a great host that made us feel welcomed and comfortable despite not being experienced dancers. We enjoyed chatting with him and learning more about Cartagena. He was awesome!
I definitely recommend this class for anyone interested in a fun night. As long as you’re willing to give the dances a try, you’ll really enjoy yourself. And if you’re nervous, there are drinks and shots of rums to give you a bit of liquid courage!

Jorge and Jeff were amazing! They not only taught us the 3 dances, they danced along with us and got to know us as well. Jeff's teaching of the moves were amazing and great way to remember. Free drinks/shots/ water as well videos of you dancing as a keepsake. I would definitely join their classes again.

Such a great experience in the heart of Cartagena! I went knowing nothing about how to salsa dance and I left feeling like I had a great foundation of basic skills to learn upon. The hosts were very personable and make you feel comfortable when you have little experience!
