About
Crossing two provinces, our Chengdu – Guiyang trip offers riders an up close and personal look at the diverse rural life, history and cultures of both Sichuan and Guizhou. First taking you deep into the heart of rural Sichuan, we will slowly wind our way towards the most important Baijiu producing regions of China, found in southern Sichuan and northern Guizhou. Forming part of the ‘golden triangle’, Sichuan boasts some of the oldest fermentation pits in China and Guizhou holds China’s premium and most popular brand – Maotai.
We will be able to get an intimate look at this facet of Chinese history, as well as witnessing some examples of how these pivotal moments continue to influence modern China to date.
Visiting several ancient towns on the way and ancient Buddhist sites, with stark changes in culture and language, this trip is all about diversity and allows you to experience a more honest look at rural Chinese life and history.

About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- mathengrary0 contributionsThanks to Sichuan AdventureIt was really a amazing to ride Chengdu countryside. I had a wonderful time out of the city. Loved the village kids waving their hands, running beside us, some asked us to take photos with them. The senior people were really friendly too. Thnaks Leo, Greenie and Sichuan Adventure Team.Written 18 September 2018
- ivyadam_dr0 contributionsCycle Panda Kingdom wonderful tour! From start to finish, Sichuan Adventure put an exemplary effort. I really enjoyed spending the evenings in those ancient towns and walking. Each day’s riding was well paced and adequate except one of our riding days in Leshan was just a little long and exhausting for some of us. Couldn’t be happier with our guide and driver. They constantly engaged with us, explaining this or that, teaching us Chinese; playing board games. Ideal for those who like riding rural and remote area.Written 18 September 2018
- davidliubr0 contributionsLovely bike tour!I booked a join cycling tour of 10 people last August. Cycle Panda Kingdom- is all about rural village, farm lands and ancient towns. Don’t expect any breathe-taking landscape along the way but there’s plenty of time we were welcomed by the locals, took photos, learned few local dialects which was fun indeed! The driver taught us playing Mazhong; Our guide showed traditional tea preparing process- that I loved most! Thanks Sichuan Adventure for making the tour enjoyable.Written 18 September 2018
- adandavided0 contributionsLess visited remote SichuanSichuan Adventure took me to see places I probably wouldn't manage to see as a tourist on my own, and to do cycling safely. They personally recommend me three tours and explained what to be experienced. At last, I booked Cycle Panda Kingdom which was everything I wanted - active, out of the city, remote areas, village path. The guide suggested to different local dishes which was unexpectedly tasty and can’t be found other places. Saw giant pandas, ride some remote parts of Sichuan as the first tourists ever visited. It was exactly what I needed out of my vacation. Thanks, Sichuan Adventure!Written 17 September 2018
- Tlitchfield0 contributionsTwo Trips in and looking forward to more!I recently visited Zigong and joined the ‘countryside hiking’ day trip with Sichuan Adventure. Both were brilliant! Zigong was a surprising treat - the salt and dinosaur history was fascinating. And the history was nicely balanced with culture as we visited a famous tea house, beautiful nunnery and probably the most authentic ‘ancient town’ I have encountered in China. The hiking was fantastic! I live in Chengdu and had no idea such good trails were within easy reach. The fact that the trails weave in and out of rural farming households makes it an incredibly enjoyable and interesting walk. Leo and Ying Ying provided a professional service throughout the whole process and are a lovely couple. For the second trip they arranged some of their guides to take me, who were all excellent - not only knowledgeable but also brilliant fun to spend the day with, with perfect English. I’ve lived and travelled in China for around 5 years and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sichuan Adventure! They are perfect should you wish to explore more ‘off the beaten path’ destinations, or are tired of the more commercial tour companies.Written 6 June 2018
- Kylie M0 contributionsOne day countryside hikeMy husband and I did the one-day countryside hike with Sichuan Adventure and had a really fantastic time. Everything was so well organised, and our guides were super knowledgeable, fun and friendly. Perfect English too. The hike itself was lovely. We walked through villages, saw their fields, and spent time in the forest also. It's a real chance to get away from the tour groups and spend some time in nature. We hiked around 20 km's but the nature of the track means you can do more or less as you please. The food at lunch was delicious! We got to try a number of dishes, and not speaking Chinese ourselves it was great to have people explain what things were and recommend things to try. When we first looked at the tour, we thought maybe it was a little expensive but it's not. It's definitely worth it. Highly recommend!!Written 5 June 2018
- KenCKuching0 contributionsChengdu-Lanzhou-JiaYuGuan-DunHuangWe recently engaged the service of Mr Liu Bin of SichuanAdventure for a 8-day round trip of Chengdu-Lanzhou-JiaYuGuan-DunHuang-Chengdu. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip by following the itinerary carefully planned by Mr Liu Bin. As we embarked into the "wild, wild west", we appreciated it even more of his meticulous arrangements on transport, ticketing, hotel, guides, costing, food, timetables etc. And yes, he was literally available round the clock to answer our ad hoc queries. He made our trip fun, informative, flexible, relaxing & hassle-free for us. We will definitely engage his service again, & explore Sichuan more.:-)Written 30 October 2017
- Chris W0 contributionsTrip of a Lifetime! We used Sichuan Adventure to organize our trip through China and we could not have been happier. Ying Ying was great in helping plan our visit and worked with me to make sure we saw everything we wanted. We traveled from Beijing to Xi'an to Chengdu over 10 days. In every city we were met with a knowledgeable guide who spoke English. We had excellent drivers and comfortable vans to get around in. All of the sites we saw were great, from the Great Wall to the Pandas in Chengdu. Liu Bin and Ying Ying helped make this a trip one that my family and I will never forget. I highly recommend Sichuan Adventure.Written 9 August 2017
- saar_teboul0 contributionsGreat Experience with Liu BinMy dad and I were lucky to find Liu Bin, an excellent guide with great English which is not to be underestimated while traveling China, Liu has great knowledge in all of Chinese history, and not only about Sichuan province. He guided us in Mending mountain, which is where you can find tea plantation, it was definitely the highlight of the trip, Liu arranged everything, from a comfortable van to drive us to the mountain, to a good family which own the tea plantation, he translated us the entire process of tea making and than we picked ourselves! After we finished the picking he arranged for a lunch in the local family house and a great cup of tea after. Upon arriving back to Chengdu, he took us to a great park where you can find many types of bamboo and in the end he guided us through downtown, all accompanied with explanations and great talks about living in China. I would highly recommend it to anyone who arrive in Chengdu!Written 21 April 2017
- Citronella360 contributionsTrip to the Sichuan Cuisine MuseumWe had a great time at the Sichuan Cuisine Museum. Experienced the great location, the interesting history of food, and got to sample and cook up a storm. Yingying came with us, she speaks fantastic English and took some great photos for us. Liu Bin had arranged everything, great service before and after. Would highly recommend.Written 13 January 2017
- chinnychinchin0 contributionsSTUNNING South Sichuan ....In June, I commenced my enquiry with Sichuan Adventures for a 3D2N get Away from Chengdu for November. I went through many many many iterations with Liu Bin re the visit as those coming on the trip has different expectations. Even up to one week before the trip we were still making changes. In all my interactions with Liu Bin (i.e. Leo) via email .. He is responsive, clear, timely, professional, and provides sound advice. It was even better when we finally met with Liu Bin who is patient, caring and speaks good English. As we were there a few days earlier for a convention, Liu Bin took the initiative to meet with us in the evening (as he was available) to accompany us for some great Sichuan Cuisine. We had a nice intro to spicy sichuan food !! Our trip to South Sichuan covered - LeShan (giant Buddha), - Steam Train with JiaYang Coal Mine tour, - LiZhuang Old Town, - Bamboo Forest (absolutely stunning and the air was refreshing) - Zigong Dinosaur Museum (an eye opener), - Zigong Salt History. Museum (an eye opener) ==> these are places that the usual tour groups will NOT visit. We thoroughly enjoyed the variety in the span of 3D2N. Although he could not provide the guide service himself, he ensured that we were provided with a knowledgeable guide. Liu Bin also ensured that we have a good driver and clean vehicle. Therefore I strongly recommend Sichuan Adventure for a good trip to Sichuan and other parts. I am definitely coming back for my next trip to either Tibet or North Sichuan (next to the Tibet border) with Sichuan Adventure. Thank You Liu Bin .... Thank You Sichuan Adventure.Written 17 November 2016
- Cleo S0 contributionsDuJiangYan+CoalMine+Townwalk+Steamtrain+SichuanFoodDescribe the place and the activity These places are breathtaking ! Every place we visited tells a significant story of Chinese working spirit, the transformation years and the culture. Say what you liked best & least I like all that the tourist guide had brought us to. YingYing speaks good english and we are blessed to have her to bring us around, explaining the history and the whatabout of these places. She even go to the extend to bring us to a little old town called Noah, but it was in evening. Saw how the locals spend their evenings leisurely...the Sichuanian really live well !! Time is always the constraint to stay longer... DuJiangYan should be a whole day tour till the evening light comes upon. Never like the smoking around...it contaminate the fresh air around. If you are in for spices, yes go for Sichuan Mala hotpot...its stunning hot! I could not handle it..hahha.. Tell us what to bring (camera, walking shoes...) Do carry a small umbrella along, tissues and disposable bags for rubbish. yes..good walking shoes...we walk often. A good smart phone camera could take these spectacular scenes. Go in group of 5, 7, 17 and the coach. There's how the private vehicle could carry. Say if it's a short visit or an all-day event We were there to attend the Congress. So it was a three day trip with YingYing. Very blessed to her, a pleasant personality.Written 14 November 2016
- Olivia-Guan0 contributionsUnforgetable trip in Northen SichuanWith Leo as our guide, my family enjoyed a pleasant trip during the National holidays. When most other tourist spots are filled with people, Leo was so wise to have chosen this route for us. With his expertise, we enjoyed the natural beauty on the snow mountains. I seemed to have returned to my youth while playing with snow on Chola Mountain. The local people in Taoping Qiang minority village and Jiaju Tibetan village impressed us with their hospitality and gourmet dinners. We learned a lot about Tibetan Buddism by visiting Yaqing Monastery and Dege Pakhang Sutra-printing House, where the lamas, both young and old, are so pious but friendly enough to reply to my questions. All these happy memories will remain in my heart for years to come. Thank you very much, Leo! Your reminder before our departure proved to be very helpful, and your timely explanation enlightened us about the places and cultures. We are sure to come back to Sichuan again, and our guide will be no other person than you, Leo.Written 8 November 2016
