Itinerary
- 1Pick up you at your hotel in Siem Reap and transfer to Battambang, Cambodia's second largest city and the centre of a fertile agricultural area labelled fairly the “Rice Bowl' of Cambodia. In Battambang you are able to see the variety of attractions but for your day visit we have selected the top highlights. Driving through the city you will see the French colonial era footprint in the facade of the town houses, many of which are receiving a well deserved face lift. The famous Bamboo Train is surviving despite the overhanging threat of closure. It is a fun way of experiencing the lush green countryside outside Battambang. When two trains meet, the one with a lighter load must dismantle and make way to the other. You will have lunch locally and rest during the hottest part of the day. Along the way you will stop at an orange plantation before reaching the impressive Banan Temple on the top of a hill with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Return to Siem Reap and drop off.

- shanghaimarc0 contributionsMust Do Tour in Phnom PenhOur guide was Ms. Sreyneang. She spoke impeccable English and was knowledgeable about many topics in addition to her deep knowledge of the 1975-1979 genocide. Really enjoyed the tour with her. Went in the afternoon so while traffic back to the city from the Killing Fields was bad, we had fewer crowds at the sites.Written 14 September 2024

- ToughRalph0 contributionsAn Incredible and Memorable Day in Phnom PenhThis was among our very best tours during a 2-week Asia trip. Ms. Chheang Sreyneang was our guide. She absolutely terrific in brining to life the history and culture of Phnom Penh. She connected with every member of the familiy and led a compelling and well-paced tour. She offered terrific and well-structured insights and she welcomed questions throughout. Our day started with thoughtful visits through the dark history of Pol Pot and the Khemer Rouge (Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Choeung Ek Genocidal Center). These were sad but respectful visits and we learned so much from Ms. Sreyneang. Afterward, we shopped the Russian Market, enjoyed a terrific Khmer lunch, and visited the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. Our van was comfortable and discussion with Ms. Sreyneang continued through the day between visits. She shared personal stories that brought an authentic view of Cambodia to life.Written 16 August 2024
