          Magical Khmer Pottery Studio!
The Khmer Ceramics & Fine Arts Centre in Siem Reap is a truly wonderful and extraordinary place. The centre aims to rediscover and reintroduce Khmer ancestral pottery techniques and support the development of contemporary Khmer ceramics art. The centre includes places were thousands of wonderful, unique ceramic pieces are produced by hand every week. With talented potters some of whom are deaf and mute creating economic opportunities, and helping taking people out of poverty. We were given a great and informative tour. There is a fabulous shop. We could have easily bought 100s of amazing pieces, but we settled for some wonderful bowls and mugs, for ourselves (a great reminder of our Cambodian holiday) and some unique gifts for family and friends. Additionally there is a cafe bar and workshop where people can receive a lesson in pottery and create some of their own work! Unfortunately we only found the centre on our last day so did not take any classes. The centre is slightly out of the main Siem Reap tourist area, but easily reachable with a low cost tuk-tuk ride. I wholeheartedly recommend you add a visit to Khmer ceramics to any Cambodian holiday.

First time and we loved it. They treated us really well
First time the two of us have attempted pottery and we really enjoyed it, a big highlight of our trip and most fun we had in Siem reap. They were really nice and guided us through it very well without speaking to us. We had an early bus trip the next day so we weren’t able to pick up our pottery so they even shipped it to our acom in Phnom Penh. Very grateful Definitely recommend if you are in Siem reap

          Beautiful products
We just visited the centre to do some shopping and had a short tour of the centre. We had been to a few restaurants in Phnom Penh that had served food on plates from Khmer ceramics. The products are beautifully made and there is a huge variety of items for purchase. I could have happily bought half the shop but apparently airlines have some weight limits!

This was so much fun, amazing team at Siam reap pottery arts centre. Very friendly and young teachers with a great 1.5-2 hour se
Even though this was our first time doing pottery, we were made aware about each and every possible way to learn atleast 4 items. Session is very well organized and in a small amount of time, under tutelage of arts centre pottery teachers, you can actually build 5-6 pieces. If you are able to come back next the day, roughly 24 hours later, they will give you your pottery pieces. If you have a flight or are continuing onward in your journey, they allow you to pick any items upto 10 USD limit, that you can take from their shop. We had a flight so we picked an item each from their shop. They were super friendly and super cool. Highly recommend this in Siam Reap

          Great experience
It was my husband and I first time trying our hands at pottery. It was a really fun experience and the teachers also made it such a great experience. We liked that we could keep one pot we made each however unfortunately they didn’t make the trip home in our bags (bad packing). So I would probably recommend bubble wrap or get them posted. If you want something to do and want to try pottery this is a great class to take.

          Fantastic Family Experience
We took our 15, 13, and 9 year olds to make pottery. All of us were beginners and had blast! The staff was super friendly and patient. The Centre employs the hearing impaired who were able to show us what to do, step by step. Each of us could make up to 5 pieces, and upon completion, we got to choose which one to have fired. Our finished product was delivered to our hotel the next day.

          Learning to be crafty
Such a fun way to spend a couple hours! Our instructor had the patience of a saint and was such a sweet spirit. There were a couple times where we had to start over 4 or 5 times on a project but we enjoyed every minute. Be prepared to get a little messy though as muddy water does splash some.

          Had a blast
We loved the ceramics class! While we were hopeless at making them our instructor was very patient and also not afraid to mock our efforts when warranted. One thing to note that we didn’t realise is if you want to take home one of your creations, you need to go back and pick it up the next day as they need to glaze it overnight. We had a flight the next day so were unable to do this but as a consolation they do let you pick out one of their pieces to take home for free (under $10)!

          Wonderful family activity
We visited with our 9yr and enjoyed very much. The driver picked us up at the hotel nd dropped us at the musuem afterwards. Samol was our instructor and she was very patient and guided us well. We had several pieces delivered to the hotel the next evening and easy to bring small pots back for a unique souvenir. Great vibe at the studio and would highly recommend for everyone. Thank you Samol!!

Khmer Ceramics Centre - a must do
If you have a spare couple of hours I highly recommend going to Khmer Ceramics Centre and learn how to make your own pieces. Their location is a short tuk tuk ride out of town and all of their staff are incredibly friendly. All of the instructors are deaf but not knowing sign language is not a problem - you can tell when they are laughing at your disastrous attempts or praising when you get it right. You get to make 5 pieces and then decorate one and they fire it up for you overnight. I love how my bowl turned out and get to keep it as a fond memento for years to come. Thank you at all at Khmer Ceramics

Interesting experience with a souvenir to bring home!
Fun and interesting experience. I wish we could do the whole process ourselves. The staff helped us a lot as the time is limited, and we had to create 5 potteries. I feel making 2-3 potteries is enough...

          Really fun
My group of 12 went to try our hands at pottery making with Khmer Ceramics and Arts Centre on Nov 26. At the onset, booking and communications were easy with Mr. Kimshay via WhatsApp. We were picked up at our hotel and brought to the school. The hands on session was really fun, punctuated with plenty of laughter as some pieces broke off or went awry. We made 5 pieces in total, 3 guided by the instructor and 2 on our own. The instructors were all young and very very friendly. Shared alot of laughter together when our pottery pieces didnt cooperate with us..really really hilarious. In the end we get to choose our favourite piece to be fired and for keeps. We added the painting session, which was a little more serious but no less creative as we painted 4 pieces of ready made pottery. Oh, a final note. Our thanks to Mr. Kimshay. He was a fantastic guy. Very friendly, always accomodating. Kudos to him and his team...the very best. Go do this...it is really really fun..

          Worthwhile break from temple visits
Was there with two toddler children. Instructors are deaf and mute but very skilled. They tried to give the guests and customers your money worth and knowing how tight everyone’s itinery is - their 90min session will include 5 clay potteries to be made with the help of the instructor( I agree with some others it felt abit rushed - but it was because of reason above, also you can spend the entire 90min slowly making 1 clay model if you so prefer) I’m sure you can negotiate with the center to have longer and unhurried sessions. Essentially they are really such nice artistes in the center. Patient and obliging. We are Glad we came. Also do look at the shop inside the center - they have a seamless way to send the ceramics overseas to your home with insurance - all you need to do is to pay. Lovely place

          Enjoyable!
The pottery class which included modelling and painting already made pieces was an enjoyable experience. The instructors were very patient with our group of 25 students guiding them to produce pieces which they were proud to take home. This was a great activity and also for us to be able to support this social enterprise that provides employment opportunities for disadvantaged young people. Thank you Kimshay and your team!

Great afternoon getting your hands dirty!
We spent a really enjoyable 2 hours on the Khmer Ceramics pottery making class. The teacher takes you through the basics and then in the following 2 hours, with her guidance, you make 5 pieces of your own using the pottery wheel. You then choose your favourite piece and they fire it in the kiln overnight for you to collect the next day. It’s a lovely location, very peaceful under the trees and close to the river. Highly recommended!

This pottery class was a lot of fun. I'm not sure if a couple hours is enough to get the technique down but the teachers guided us and fixed our mistakes very easily. The wheel is a bit hard to get pumping as its a manual process but seeing the clay take shape makes it feel worth the work. You get to make 5 different pieces (cup and bowl shapes) and then design them with a wood pencil to decorate. You can choose one to take home and they fire it up for you or, if like us, you wont be here the next day for pickup they let you have something from their shop instead up to 10$. And lets be honest all their pieces were a lot nicer than our own so we weren't too sad at all to leave our pieces. The instructors are deaf, there is a lady who explains but the actual instructors who guide your hands cannot speak but there were no problems communicating. I liked that this supports jobs for them and they are very skilled, our instructor saved my broken clay many times and made it look so easy. Also the free pick up and drop off was very convenient and the staff even helped us to arrange a different drop off to our pick up as we were leaving Siem Reap the same day. I would highly recommend!

Since we're stuck here in Cambodia during the COVID pandemic we thought we may as well experience as much as we could from the local businesses. Khmer Ceramics has been one of my favourite activities so far. Mr Kimshay was very helpful with the introductions and our teacher Sovanny was incredibly patient with our clumsiness. We learnt everything about pottery from how the clay is gathered in Cambodia, the correct steps with making a fine pottery product, and tips on how to define your own unique designs. We made a bowl, a mug, a vase and something else to our creation to get us more familiarised with pottery. We ended up taking home two bowls and paid an additional $5 for a plate. It took a little over a week for the final products to be ready. However, one thing we weren't aware of is how much clay shrinks! Our large bowls and plates turned out tiny, haha. Better luck next time. Highly recommended! Great spot for mates and families.

My sister and I went to the pottery class in Siem Reap in March 2020. We were picked up by tuk tuk and taken to the class - about 10 minutes away. The class is outside (covered) and was quite cool. the teachers are all deaf mute and there is one teacher to two students. We had a lot of fun and made 5 pots (with quite a lot of help!) You can have one fired or pay $5 for any additional pots. I never realized how much hard work it is to keep the wheel going - potentially difficult if you have back or hip problems. Definitely worth a visit. You can collect your pots the next day after 4pm (make your own way there) - be aware that they shrink a lot when fired! Would recommend this if you have a couple of hours free.

We enjoyed the pottery class during our staying in the beautiful city of Siem Reap. The place was quite easy to find and the location is really relaxing and quiet, compare to the busy city center.
They showed us a simple demonstration to understand the process of making ceramics pieces and then we started to play with the clay. For all the time we had a special guy that help us making our pieces. He was really nice with us and he had a lot of patience!!¡
The day after we went to the place to pick up the pottery and we were surprising to see how beautiful was the result!
For sure a great experience to suggest to everybody who wants to relax and discover the world of ceramics!

At this place you can shop for well-made ceramics that go to support locals or, if you're feeling adventurous, you can try to make your own. The staff was so patient and helpful with us and we were making a big mess. If you want to do the class make sure you have enough days in your trip because you will need to come back to pick up your items several days later because they have to put in in the kiln.

My husband and I enjoyed our class and had a great laugh at our inability to use the equipment. Teachers were very helpful and patient with us. They offered extra assistances when needed, which was lovely. The only downside was the info on the page was incorrect. Our understanding was we could pick up our creations the next days which wasn’t the case, unfortunately it wasn’t going to be ready till the following day. We were traveling back home to Australia at that point so weren’t able to get it. Nonetheless we had a great time and enjoyed purchasing some lovely items to take home with a $10 discount due to not being able to collect our bowls.

I had such a beautiful morning learning pottery for the first time! Our pottery teacher was so kind, cheeky and patient, and thought my clumsiness was hilarious, haha! I’m unsure of his name but he was a great teacher! I’m so glad we have special handmade souvenirs to take home to Australia to fondly remember our time in Siem Reap. One thing to note is that the pottery shrinks a lot when it’s in the kiln. I would do this class again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend to everyone

Very nice staff, the atmosphere of the Place is very cute. We worked with wet tone and produced 5 pieces in total, were you can choose one of them in the end to take as a souvenir. It was fun and interesting, but I wish a could have done a little bit more on my own, so its more my own creation and to have an influence on the form etc. But it was still a nice experience ☺️

Did this class on a whim and ended up being a highlight of my trip to Siem Reap! We had three deaf women teaching the class and they were such amazing teachers
The pottery wheels were manual so it was an adventure to get going and multitask with the clay as well but our teacher helped us so much when we were struggling. She was also really funny, it was an amazing experience - definitely recommend!
