Thrifty Car Rental Dubai blocked visa card for 2000 DHS for an insurance block and have failed to unblock the funds in over three weeks. I also had several friends who have had the same issues with Thrifty. The process to have the funds returned is dragged out. Please avoid using Thrifty Car Rental Dubai.

Save your time and money! Please look for another car rental! In augustus I rented a car for this company, I paid my rental costs through my credit card and my deposit AED3000 about €800 in cash.. before our flight back the car was picked up near the hotel on 18th August 2023 and the pick up guy told me that my deposit will be held for 30 days in case a speeding ticket will be charged.. after the 30 days around 20 September 2023 I contacted Uptown via WhatsApp and asked for my deposit back.. after a difficult conversation I gave my IBAN number and contact information and they promised me to transfer the deposit back asap.. It could take up to 10 working days they said.. you can imagine with the technology at this time.. ok, after the 10 days I contacted them again and said that I still didn’t received my deposit back! I had to beg for a transaction confirmation with the SWIFT number.. my bank told me that I needed a UETR code also because it went to the EU… so I asked Uptown and after going back and forth that they made the transaction and it should be on my account, suddenly it went to radio silence.. no more reply’s from Uptown about my questions! Lucky I paid with my credit card so I asked a refund on the rental payment.. Mastercard has a security on their payments.. it was approved by Mastercard and they started a investigation from my delivered WhatsApp chats and all.. they gave Uptown somewhere in januari 2024 a 45 day window to respond on the matter, if they didn’t respond, the rental amount €1270 would be refunded to me! And guess what.. today 21th February 2024!!!! I had a bank transfer with the amount off €800 back from Uptown…. Wowwwwwwww thank you???? And they called me crazy that the transaction was made in September 2023.. thanks guys from Uptown Car rental in specific Sara and James for you outstanding service like not responding on my chats, emails and phone calls..

The price-performance ratio for the car rental is ok, but I was surprised at the amount of costs for refueling. I was charged about $40 for the 170km I have driven with the car, incomprehensible to me.

We rented 2 cars from Uptown, the Range Rover SVR (Orange) as well as the G63 (Black). These cars made the trip special during our short stay in Dubai. Had a coolant light come on with the SVR, the response back was super quick with Humza coming out to Wild Wadi to fill up. Absolutely appalling customer service. I enquired on WhatsApp to hire the supercar as a surprise for my husband, like I did with most supercar services in U.A.E. First of all, we agreed a price of a deposit of 3K, and then I received a message "sorry bro I made a mistake it's 10k deposit." This was shocking to me, not only the language used but also such a huge difference. Then he changed his mind and said "I will make it 7k for you." Then when I agreed and asked to receive the car, I asked for a proof of purchase and I was asked "what is the problem, you will get the car." I found this very strange also because it's a normal request when you buy something to obtain a receipt. Therefore, I cancelled and said I will go with another company. However on the day I had a text saying "sir, when do you want the car delivered." Absolutely shocking service.

Great experience, everything went smooth without trouble. They even gave us a free ride to our next destination after our one hour ride with the huracan. All coworkers are very friendly

I would avoid renting from these guys again. I'm a good customer and they tell me I get good rates. Got car for same rate advertised then they charge an extra 1500dhms for 75kms. Even the staff said we know it's too expensive. The car was all scratched up and marked too. I won't be going back. There are much much cheaper options in Dubai for cars than these guys, you just have to look. Take my advice and avoid renting from here.
