Had a bit of a difficult time getting there (late arrivals and traffic). Did see three bear. Blind is quite crowded and our driver was our guide - no ranger

We had a perfect day hiking in the Carpathian Mountains. Mihai is a very knowledgeable guide with a good energy and good attitude. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys the outdoors!

the tour is a friendly easy pace through beautiful country and an awesome canyon the tour guide Alex was brilliant easy going and happily chatted with our small group and taking us at our pace, we were picked up on time and never in a rush highly recommend it

Had a great trip to the canyon with Alex as the guide. He was friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience enjoyable. The walk was mostly relaxed, though there were some steep sections, especially on the way down. I'd recommend wearing boots or proper walking shoes.

Fantastic trip and highly recommend this trip. I travelled alone. Dan, my guide and driver was superb. Collected me on time from my hotel. Safe, professional guide and driver. Conversed well along the way and entertained me with his fabulous singing. Dan bought fresh bread just before we left Braşov and he shared his homemade lunch with me. It’s a long day and I was tired at the end of the day, but Dan remained energetic and motivated. Definitely a very worthwhile trip to make. The highlight of my trip to Romania.

We had a fantastic trip with Alex our guide who was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Clear instructions about where to meet. Despite a minor glitch with transport at the beginning of our trip, Alex made the bear watching experience incredibly interesting, sharing facts and stories about the bears. There was a group of 10 of us and we spent a couple of hours in the hide and saw 2 bears - an adult make and a young male. Alex had also brought binoculars with him so we could observe the bears more closely. An awesome trip and one we would 100% recommend. Thanks so much Active Travel and Alex.

The sights are wonderful but be prepared for lots of uneven surfaces and stairs. Difficult when it is a very wet day so good waterproofs and sturdy shoes are a must. Our guide was very informative on the history of places but less so on the timetable of the day. As there were only three of us on the tour so it was by car. Tour guide he was very accommodating and flexible at the sights. Viscri church is lovely but under construction. Sighisoara is beautiful.

Great trip, very knowledgeable and helpful guide and we would definitely recommend! Bears were the main reason for our trip to Romania so we were very pleased to see 2 bears who were around for almost the entire time!

This visit is very interesting, and our guide Alex gave us a lot of information about the magnificent Peles Castle and its historical context. Additionally, Alex was very kind and patient in answering all our questions.

This tour through the stunning nature of these mountains is extraordinary. Highly, highly recommended! And our experienced guide Bogdan has been quite a discovery! He’s a great person with extensive knowledge about mountaineering, adventure sports, survival, and the history of Romania. The journey was very enjoyable, and the day went by so quickly! And that’s despite us having taken over 30,000 steps, haha. The mealtime was delicious and very rejuvenating.

I recently had the privilege of hiking through the stunning Piatra Craiului mountains, and I cannot recommend our guide, Mihai, enough! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, sharing fascinating insights into the local environment, scenery, wildlife, and old legends. Mihai knew the trails very well, ensuring the group always felt safe, even on the more challenging paths. He also made sure everyone was comfortable with the hiking pace. I would highly recommend taking this hiking tour!

My friends and I booked a private tour with Active Travel, had the most wonderful experience with Marian, our guide. He was absolutely accommodating in every way and chose two locations that were perfect for us. The scenery was breathtaking, and Marian was so knowledgeable, and shared so many interesting stories and historical facts with us. After our hike we finished up having lunch in a guest house which was arranged by Marian, and everything was perfect. Marian spoke with so much love and passion for the Carpathian’s and Romania, and is an advocate for ecotourism which we found inspiring. We recommend Active Travel and will def be back to Romania to book with them again.

On our recent day trip to the enchanting sites of Cetatea Rupea, Sighișoara and Viscri,we were fortunate to have an exceptional tour guide, Charlie,whose passion for the region enhanced our experience. From the moment we met him,it was clear we were in good hands.With a warm welcoming,he gave us a brief overview of the day's itinerary.His enthusiasm was catchy,setting a positive tone for the adventure ahead. As we made our way to Cetatea Rupea, Charlie shared fascinating historical insights about the fortress.He told us stories of the site's medieval significance,its strategic importance in the region and the various cultures that influenced its architecture.The panoramic view from the majestic fortress was magical,with rolling hills, stretching as far as the eye could see. Next,we ventured to the enchanting town of Sighișoara,a UNESCO World Heritage site.With its cobblestone streets and colourful buildings,it felt like stepping into a fairy tale.Charlie,expertly led us through the narrow alleys always giving us pertinent information about everything that was worth being mentioned about the sites that we visited on our wonderful trip. Our final destination was the picturesque village of Viscri,very famous for its traditional Saxon heritage.The thatched roof houses and serene countryside provided a perfect backdrop for reflection. By the end of the day,we have not only explored breathtaking sites,but also forged a bond with our guide and eachother. If you wish to experience the heart of Transylvania through the eyes of a passionate storyteller, Charlie is the guide you need,and not only a guide,but a very good driver! He turned a day trip into a journey of the heart and mind!
