You will have an eagle-eyed view of the tiny crescent-shaped beach and the magnificent spread of ocean stretching to the far horizon. The beautifully set tables will delight you – it’s the most glamorous picnic you will ever attend! Scrumptiously fresh, local fish is prepared the local way and accompanied with a range of seasonal island dishes including those passed down from our Polynesian fore-mothers. This extends even to dessert. Our feast kicks off with entertainment, by a local singer and Tahitian-style dancers. The venue is subject to change if the weather becomes inclement

      Love that honey. Great tour
The highlight was the bee man who was so knowledgeable and passionate about his subject. Could have listened to him all day and of course the honey was delicious. The tea tasting was lovely and the initiative shown by that young man was impressive. The stories of the salt lady were fascinating

      So interesting.
This tour was a complete surprise! Never having read a Colleen McCulloch book, I tagged along with my wife who was very keen. It turned out to be a most interesting morning, with an interesting drive out to the property and then a most personal and informative look into the house and the life of the famous writer. Our guide, Rebecca, having worked with McCulloch for many years, was a veritable mine of information and the exquisite furnishings, art and artefacts in the house was incredible. Definitely recommend this tour!

      Not so good fish fry
Unfortunately the weather was not the best for this event. However we were not impressed by the meal. We got 2 small pieces of fish and salads, such as you could get anywhere else. Mine was okay but my partners was cold and dried out. Sure you could go back for seconds. The dessert was a coconut custard pie, not very appealing. No chips. The highlight of the evening was the singer. Otherwise I would not recommend it. Perhaps I was prejudiced as I had attended a fish fry years previously which was far better.

      Tour of Colleen's home
Lovely home in idyllic surrounds. Welcomed by Rebecca and shown through many rooms; so many pieces collected by Colleen over the years are on display. Absolutely loved the 'fernery' - would love to sit there & chat to Colleen with a cuppa !

      Great Intro to Norfolk Island
9/10 for the Tour Guide on Tuesday am 7 Feb. Pick up from hotel and drop off were punctual. Knowledge as a local about local matters was excellent and general banter with the passengers was positive and uplifting. Driving skills were excellent. My only negative comment, as a person who has been on many tours in a number of countries, is that no name tag was worn by the guide. Yes, he introduced himself, but as part of a small group of other people I didn’t know, I am lucky to remember my own name!

      Good food and entertainment
Better than expected. The fish was fresh and excellent quality with thin batter. Salads were good as well with some Pacifica dishes also offered for variety. The venue is covered but open air. The local musician gave a pleasant musical backdrop with some interesting stories about his family of Pitcairners. This was followed by a hula dance ensemble of young women from the island. All in all a pleasant experience.

      Worth it
Excellent informative tour lasting around 3 hours focusing on Kingston. Our tour guide Rachel was courteous, answering all our questions and did not rush us through an itinerary. Offering water to guests would be an improvement. Highly recommended

      Keen on Kingston
Our 8th generation local tour guide, Rachel gave us a very engaging, educational, and enjoyable tour of world heritage-listed Kingston yesterday. Her extensive knowledge, complemented by rich anecdotes, gave us a real feel for the complex history of Norfolk Island. An unexpected bonus was a spontaneous visit to the newly dug-up archaeological site of a drain near Government house. It was a very pleasurable and informative afternoon, thank you.

      A Cultural Delight
This was a very interesting and informative tour. It was wonderful to be invited into a true Norfolk Islanders property and listen to island stories that would not necessarily be shared on other tours. It really gave us a great appreciation of how gifted islanders are at improvising and problem solving. This tour was truly a rich cultural experience. The tasting plate was delicious thanks to the wonderful chef and Mark the poet shared some moving island inspired poems.

A lottery - depends on the home!
Expect anything. Entree course we had a woman who gave us a comedy history of her family, which was fun. Main course the hostess produced her frail 86 year old uncle to talk about whaling, who had obvious memory loss and kept forgetting what he was saying. Sweet guy but very hard going, and not once did she come out to support or help him. Dessert course we were politely blackmailed into buying a local fundraising liqueur, while the hostess regaled us with stories of basically how fabulous she was. With 50+ people in the group there is very little (i.e. none) chance to talk to the hosts about anything, it's a case of "get in, eat, get out." Food was very ordinary. I know this tour has been around for a long time, and in theory it's a great idea, but I think the Norfolkians are doing it by numbers and just grabbing the tourist dollar, which is disappointing. Might be time to revisit the concept and do it better than they are at the moment.

      Show? What show? AVOID!
Without doubt the worst thing we have ever sat through. Three performers - you'd never call them actors - staggering through a meandering list of historical trivia, "umms" and "aahs" everywhere because they can't remember the lines, sprinkled with overworked non-jokes along the lines of "the Commandant's wife never liked an early morning cock". All three laugh at their own jokes and think they're hilarious. They're not. Done in a bland hotel function hall with no sound, no lighting, no set, cheap badly-fitted costumes and zero atmosphere. Also features a narrator who for some reason ISN'T in costume like the others, and wanders around in a caftan with a book prompting them as they all forget what they're doing. It looks exactly like what it is - a very tired tourist gimmick for a captive audience screwed out of $100 in advance, who then have to buy overpriced cheap wine from the venue. And when you think it can't possibly get any worse, the food - the soup could have been anything, meat tough as an old boot, canned gravy and tinned veggies. We escaped before dessert. This embarrassment desperately needs a writer, a real script, genuine humour, a director with imagination, some (any) attempt at production values and actors who actually know how to deliver lines rather than C-grade amateurs. I've seen pre-school shows with more cred than this garbage. Excruciatingly bad - AVOID.

Insights into the life of a celebrated literary figure.
A real thrill to visit the home of an author whose books you've read and largely enjoyed. Guided by her long time housekeeper who gave all relevant facts about Colleen but also related many little anecdotes about her that much more fully filled out the life she led and revealed quite a lot about her character. The house itself is kept as it was during her occupation and many of the pieces of art, sculpture and furnishing are of great interest in their own right. Absolutely worth experiencing.

Island Adventures 4WD Tour - great experience
My daughter and I travelled to Norfolk Island in May 2023 and this tour was our favourite. The bus driver was great and shared his knowledge without any political conversations. We visited several private properties where the views were amazing so this tour is a must for photos. We ended with morning tea at the home of a local weaver. I would not hesitate in doing this tour again on my next visit, this tour was very good value for money.

We were looking forward to the Island Fish Fry on our final night on the island but myself and 3 friends were grossly disappointed.
After we boarded the bus we were told that the Fish Fry was to be held in a local hall as the weather was too wet to head out to Puppy's Point where we were told it was to be.
It had rained at daybreak that day but not a drop had fallen since then and it did not rain during the night.
It would have been beautiful out at the point as daylight faded - the hall was just so depressing and a great let down.
If it was too wet, we would have understood but I think the organisers just piked out and called the hall venue too early.
The fish was nice but the accompaniments were certainly not worth $88.
The entertainment was the best part of a miserable night!

Thank you for the review, it was disappointing about the cold wet weather. We do move the dinner indoors at times for the customer comfort if weather is unfavourable in these cooler months. I can assure you the decision is not made till around 4pm just before the start time of the dinner an hour later.

Unfortunately our dinner was held inside as there was a lots of raining during the day so we missed the sunset but we met an excellent company at our table, fish was done perfectly accompanied by many side dishes and the coconut pie was delicious. We were entertained by 4 young dancers and a man playing guitar. Many people did get involved in the dancing and we were sad to leave when finished. We did self drive but you can book with bus transport included for $15pp extra. Glass of wine (generous) was $10 , beer $8. Dinner is self serving and you can help yourself to seconds until the food runs out which it didn’t. Normally held at Puppy point if not raining.

The bus trip from our accommodation set the scene for a wonderful evening. We were all in stitches before we arrived and the night got better from there. The entertainment, which told the story of culture and life associated with Norfolk Island's past and present, included singing and a delightful island dance group. The performers were passionate about sharing their heritage.
At meal time the many tables and people serving ensured waiting time was kept to a minimum. The food was incredible and so plentiful. Seconds were definitely encouraged. Drinks were either BYO or purchase a small range from the caterers. Such an enjoyable experience.

The fish fry was certainly one of the highlights of Norfolk Island. Well organised, fresh fish and deserts and sensational outlook on the cliff edge. The only reason I am not giving this five stars is that at $85.00 per person, this is a bit of a rip off. Someone is making a lot of money here for something that should be priced at around $50.00.

My husband and I loved our Island fish fry experience. The beautiful fish was trumpeter, very well cooked. The other dishes were very nice. The location was perfect and the setting sun was very colourful. We liked the singer he sang the old songs that the mostly older group could sing along to. I know it was fairly pricey, but we didn 't care , we worked all our lives to enjoy travel in our retirement it's only money after all, we can't take it with us when we, die, might as well enjoy it know. There was about 100 people there with lots of food for all, a good night out which finished too early.

A group of 12 of us thoroughly enjoyed the Baunti Fish Fry. The fish was trumpeter and was cooked to perfection. There was also pasta salad, rice salad, tossed salad and potato salad along with a slice of coconut bread. The desert was Coconut Pie which was delicious. There were about 90 people and there was enough food for seconds. The local singer was excellent he played and sang all the old songs that we could sing along to.
The young girls dancing added to the night.

The experience was a lot better than expected given some of the less than glowing reviews. We self drove with another couple, easy to find location by Anson Bay in an elevated paddock with unimpeded ocean views. Begins with 4 girls dancing in Tahitian style for what would have been about 15 minutes, entertaining and the clearly their minds were on the job, shortly followed with an abundance of food served buffet style.

The locally caught Trumpeter (Sweet Lip) was delicious, sweet white flesh in a light crispy batter, not one bit greasy so in my judgement, perfectly cooked. Tray after tray came out and you could eat to bursting point. A garden salad, potato salad, rice salad, pasta salad, a mashed sweet potato which I'm not usually a fan of but this was given the local treatment of spices (?) & seasoning & was delicious, thin sliced coconut/banana bread. Probably missed something. And for dessert, a coconut custard cake with or without cream. I love my food anyway but have never seen our friends eat so much. Entertained by Bong, excellent singer & guitarist with a BIG repertoire. He performed without a break.

BYO or a cash 'bar'. Glasses of quite reasonable wine were $10, so I'm guessing beer & soft drink prices were reasonable too. Chilled water free. Value for money? I don't regret paying $80ph self drive ($95 with transport), remembering the great food, excellent entertainment & location while watching the sun decline (didn't quite make sunset in late December). Which reminds me - bring a hat, many didn't and regretted it.

This was perfect way to finish off 6 days on the Island. Set up tables in reserve at Puppy's Lookout sunset great, food great and there was plenty. Drinks for purchase- wine; soft drink and juice. Catered for me as GF, fish was done to perfection.
We were entertained by local singer and local dance group who performed traditional dances.

The artist singing and the dancers were the only good things about this. Only one type of local fish served, so if you didn't like it, tough. Also the only hot item with 3 types of cold salad (Including 2 Coleslaw type) dry bread (with no butter or oil), a cold coconut sweet potato and a coconut bread. Very cold (even with the provided blanket). Even had the weather been warmer it would have been a waste of money.

One of our events booked through Baunti tours on a recent visit to Norfolk Island. The fish fry was in an outdoor setting at beautiful Anson Bay. The event had a cash bar for wine and beer so you could slake your thirst and chat to other members of your table whilst over to one side people were beavering away cooking fish and preparing the accompaniments (salads and coconut bread, etc). The fish was trumpeter (red emperor), and was delicious and just kept on coming! The entertainment of the evening involved a group of young girls performing several pacific island dances. The backdrop was not the best and the costumes were on the plain side, but the enthusiasm and execution were very good.
    An enjoyable evening.
