We did three excursions while in Panama and this was by far our favorite! Daniel was an amazing tour guide, his knowledge of the area and wildlife made it very enjoyable. The majority of the day is spent on your journey to the rain forest, through the rain forest and at the embara village where you have an awesome lunch. The highlight for our kids (teens) was the canoe ride up the river where you’re in the middle of nowhere surrounded by rainforest and feel like explorers. They enjoyed spotting wildlife and waterfalls. After that we drove back towards town to visit monkey Island. To get there we boated across Gatun lake which is the midpoint if the canal, but this should not be mistaken for a canal tour, which is what I thought I was getting in part. I thought I had found a single tour that checked off all of our main boxes, culture, wildlife and canal. It’s an eco tour though so while you were in Gatun lake, the focus is still on the wildlife. Daniel mentioned a couple of facts about the passing ships but it wasn’t as in depth as I anticipated. Monkey island was great though and it was easy to tell that Daniel was superior to other guides at spotting and calling the monkeys into the boat. Like I said, still an amazing day though and I’d highly recommend this tour, just be aware of what it is and isn’t.

Leo and Walter did an amazing job as tour guides and we learned so much about the canal, wildlife and some of the people of Panama. I totally recommend this tour for all ages! If you are interested in bringing momentos home from Panama, I suggest getting them from the Embera People when you visit their tribe as you can meet most of the artists. Items range from $5 to $40 for some beautiful hand carved wood pieces and hand woven baskets. Thanks again Leo and Walter for a great Panama experience....We will be back!

My daughter and I really enjoyed the day that we spent with Daniel on the Panama Canal Eco Cruise and Embera Village Combo Tour. Daniel was right on time to pick us up and kept our group on schedule throughout the day. He was friendly and answered any questions that we or other group members had.

At the Monkey Island area, we were able to spot several groups of monkeys and actually feed them off our boat! Daniel and the boat driver worked well to position the boat so we could really interact with them. We also were able to see a crocodile, several lizards, and other birds of the area. We enjoyed seeing the canal and the huge cargo ships that we passed up close!

Our time at the Embera Village was so memorable! The people were very warm and polite and hospitable. Lunch of freshly-caught fish, cooked plantains, and fruit was delicious and beautifully presented in a plant leaf pocket with a hibiscus flower to accent it. We really enjoyed their dances and the information shared. We loved seeing the children and interacting with them! Their craft products are beautiful and well-made. Much nicer to buy something there than in a souvenir shop in the city!

The ride to and from the village in the canoe was also great! The river area is beautiful and it was great to see the density of the rain forest area up close.

We really enjoyed getting out of the big city and back to nature on this day trip. Special thanks to Daniel for making it possible and teaching us so much about Panama!

I highly recommend this trip!

We arrived with a cruiseship in Puerto Colon. Fortunately I made booking before leaving at home at Panama-daytrips to visit the Emberapeople and a boatride on the Panamacanal! You never know before what value you get for your money but this was the best day of our cruise!!!! Thank you, guide Leon and driver Jorge, and Cynthia for the booking. Very friendly people who made our private tour the best. A nice ride, with lots of explications, a very nice canotrip to the Emberapeople where we had a warm welcome. Also the other boattrip on the Panamacanal was great.
I can only say not to hesitate when you look what to do! we enjoyed this so much Thanks to you, Guys! Wish we could do this again!
Tip: when you go to the Embera, they sell little things they make but it is so good to take something with you for the kids.

My husband and I visited Panama for a week for business (in the end of Nov/beginning of Dec) but had a couple of free days to explore. We decided to book the Panamá canal eco Cruise and Embera Village combo Tour with Panama Day Trips and we are so happy that we did. The day was wonderful from start to finish. Leo was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. He had some of the best customer service that we have ever experienced. Although our trip was over a month ago, and our schedules have been extremely hectic since Panama, we could never shake the desire to leave a review. If you are ever visiting Panama and desiring to take any type of tour, booking through Panama Day Tours is a must. They are truly the best of the best.

From pick up at our hotel throughout the entire day Leo made sure we had everything we needed. Excellent tour guide. We went with our two boys (13 & 7) and they were involved throughout the day. No complaining or whining: we brought ring pops for the kids at the village and they were very sweet and gracious. Highly recommend this tour with Leo and his team.

This tour was thoroughly informative and exciting for all members of our group of eleven. Our tour guide, Enrique, was knowledgeable and funny and we saw a variety of attractions. We were picked up 7:15 AM and picked up some local fruits. Then we took a motorized to the rainforest, where we swam in the waterfall area but did not see much wildlife excluding a few birds. It was still beautiful, though. There was a bit of confusion regarding whether we should wear swimsuits or whether we would get a chance to change into them, and eventually we ended up changing in the bus because the visitors' center was closed. After this, we visited a local native village where we had a cultural experience involving dancing, storytelling, and a craft market where we could shop. We ate a lunch of fish and plantain chips (which was not ideal as I can't eat fish so I was stuck with just plantain chips). Then we went back to the truck and drove to this other place where we took a boat to a place called Monkey Island and got to feed some monkeys. Then we went back to the hotel at about 4:00 PM.

We only had one day in Panama so chose a combo tour (Panama Canal, Monkey Island and Embera visit). I honestly can't say I've seen the Canal as we only saw what is on the way to Monkey Island. The guide did mention some facts about the Canal when we were on the water and we saw Herman the German (the floating excavator) but that was it. We drove straight past Centennial Bridge and didn't stop for photos. The guide also tried to manage expectations by saying that we've already finished the Canal portion of the day (even though we hadn't seen anything) and tried to hype us up by saying this day will be one of the best in our lives and the wildlife is absolutely amazing but it was honestly fairly average. The monkeys aren't exactly wild so it isn't that special to see them. They appear when they hear the boats. The guide also explained how the monkeys are used to humans so they get stolen for the illegal wildlife trade and then said we don't need to feel bad about feeding a monkey a grape, quite contradictory. I did feel pretty bad for the monkeys.

We enjoyed our visit to this village. Of course if you are expecting to visit what the area was like 100 years ago you need a time machine. Outboard motors are used to run the dug out canoes. The natives are genuinely happy for your visit. The trinkets they sell are the same ones you can buy in most shops. Although they claim that they make most of it. No problem with bugs if you spray first. They provide a piece of fish and plantains, which were very good. A nice break from the cruise ship and a interesting drive through Panama.

Our party of 4 gals all enjoyed this tour with our guide, Enrique. We had a lot of fun in the boat ride and saw different types of birds, monkeys and other animals including a crocodile and sloth. Monkeys' visit to our boat was awesome. We also swam at the waterfall which was a fairly long and strenuous walk to get there. A bit confused of what kinds of shoes to wear. The reminder says 3 kinds of shoes -- a pair to get wet, a pair to walk on muddy trail, and a pair to visit the ingenious people, but we didn't know when to wear which, and ended up we should have worn a pair of shoes which is good for trailing walking, non-slip and into water, closed toes, as well as fast drying--all for the walk to the waterfall, plus in the waterfall, the rocks at the bottom were hurting.

The tour was informative, we even tried a cashew fruit and a noni fruit. Some cultural handmade items were beautiful, but we doubt they were all made by the indigeous people especially the smaller key chains which we could see in many other places which have plastic bag packaging.

Overall it was an 11-hour tour with many different activities and things to see and do. The deep fried fish, plantain chips, and fruits for lunch were fairly good if you eat fish. It was a small portion for men for this long trip. You are recommended to bring some snacks along. You may also want to bring some grapes and a banana to feed the monkeys.
