- 160chuckt0 contributions10 out of 10. Great way to cook & eat the local Panamanian food! Highly recommend!Highly recommend! A must do! It was about 4 hours+ and we made ceviche, chicken carimana, tamal and caramelized plantain dessert. We started at the restaurant but walked to the market. (Be prepared for a long walk.) I would recommend they start the tour at the market if possible. The chef Jorge was fantastic & a great instructor! His staff were friendly & excellent assistants to the chef. The food was outstanding - it will be hard to find another restaurant with this great of Panamanian food! It was so good that we went back again to have lunch. Wow!! Delicious.Written 24 November 2024
- Geovani c0 contributionsAMAZING TIME WITH MY KIDS!From the moment we were picked up (right on time) The experience was amazing! John was a great guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. The lunch we had was delicious! And the trip to the village was a memory my kids and I will never forget! Highly Recommend..Written 12 November 2024
- kimberlygO6529DH0 contributionsExcellent, adventurous end to a productive business trip!We booked a private tour as part of a business trip for 11 team members. What an adventure! We saw lots of wildlife -- toucans, sloth, 3 types of monkeys, agouti, iguanas, and a basilisk lizard. And we learned so much about the history of the Panama canal zone. Our guide was knowledgable and impressively good at spotting and identifying animals in the trees. Our half-day tour was a wonderful way to see more of Panama, just a short ride from the city.Written 27 October 2024

- H4347WQdianeh0 contributionsIf you love to learn cooking and culture!!I love to do cooking classes when traveling. I think food is the heart of every culture. This is one of the BEST I've taken. Very friendly, the cost and value excellent. It's a small class (on our day we were the only 2) which allowed hands on, a good visual and connecting with the Chef concerning questions . It was the best event of my week stay. Would recommend to others. 5 stars plus!!!Written 21 October 2024
- Havips0 contributionsGreat Cooking ExperienceWe cooked a 5 course meal and bought the ingredients at the markets. Our guide/chef was excellent. Provided a step by step instruction and provided us with drinksWritten 11 October 2024

- corymonstr0 contributionsGreat tour...awesome tour guide! Our guide, Nidia, was a wealth of knowledge regading the Panama Canal, Panama history, wildlife and pretty much ANYTHING Panama. We were on the water EARLY which allowed us to see Capybara, 3 types of monkeys, iguanas, etc. HIGHLY recommend.Written 22 September 2024
- Christopher B0 contributionsHighly recommended tour for people seeking a more private more genuine experience with someone who really loves natureAmazing tour with john, got to see many animals and learned a lot of things about the panama canal and its history. The breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately didn't see many things in the forestWritten 24 August 2024
- BridgetB4870 contributionsMust do…best part of our Panama tripSuch a great experience, we would definitely do again! We doubt we’ll come across a better experience, including going to the market, having good conversations, and making great food! We came home and made the tamales for our family…definitely a hit! One thing to know ahead, don’t expect to eat until 4-6 hours after your class starts, so you may want to eat something right before, as drinks were plentiful and they were great hosts! Jorge and Edwardo knocked it out of the park!Written 15 August 2024
- Fearless576668075070 contributionsExcellentGreat tour, a wonderful experience with lots of insight from John our tour guide! Extremely worth it and the food was absolutely amazing!Written 6 August 2024
- Mathieu B0 contributionsPerfect for FamiliesGreat experience for half-day excursion. Early start was great as we were able to be drop in Panama City around 12:30 to enjoy the Old City and Rooftops before heading back to Playa Bonita with a $10 Uber ride. Our guide Paola was simply the best. Very clear and good historical references. The iPad she us using makes it more interactive. The local brunch at the baseball field was great. Unfortunately didn’t see much animals during the 2km walk but was still an amazing experience.Written 6 August 2024
- MatthewM26400 contributionsFun tour — definitely recommend!Everything was great. The tour was fun and super relaxed. The tour guide was great as well. It was a really easy hike and we saw a good amount of wildlife walking as well as from the boat.Written 31 July 2024

Giving this a 3 because they didn"t deliver on 2 promised sites out of 5. Yes we have to consider the closing of some sites because of the corona virus but this company should change their pricing and not expect the customers to absorb this lesser day trip for the same price. I highly recommend not to take any outings until this corona virus situation has been rectified. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY for lesser service.

Before the tour I stopped everybody and explained that things were closing left and right and we would do everything possible to make the tour happen. I clearly explained that if anybody did not get a full experience to please let us know so we can refund all or part of cost of the tour. We did our best, however we couldn't go to San Lorenzo because of its closure, so instead we went even further to Portobello to at least show something. We were able to do the boat ride on the canal and the Agua Clara locks. Even with all that, all you had to do was say your weren't happy and the money would have been refunded. I made that very clear before the tour. Instead you want to get online and make it sound like we are scamming people. The day before your tour, everything was open. During your tour, things started shutting down, MID TOUR! The day after your tour we shut down all of our tours. We are no longer running tours until this passes. I apologize that we ruined your tour, I just wish you would have said something to us before bashing us online.

I booked this tour because of the program (Monkey Island, San Lorenzo National Park and Agua Clara locks) and the price. Indeed, unlike many sighseeing tours in Panama which are way too expensive, the price of this tour is comparable with the full day excursion prices found in other countries.
The tour was led in a very professional manner by Leo the guide and Manuel the driver. Timing, explanations, breakfast, lunch were just excellent.
Highly recommended!

Our family of 4 stayed in Panama City for a week and we booked a couple of tours to help structure our vacation. We are so glad we chose Panama Day trips Jungle to Jungle tour with John as our guide!
There are 3 parts to this tour- monkey island, a historical fort and touring the new locks in the Panama Canal. Monkey Island is the best part of the tour since you get up close and personal with monkeys. The Fort and the Canal were more historical and fact-laden parts of the tour. However, John made each part of the tour interesting- he was such a great guide. Even our 2 teenagers remained interested and alert!
The tour company was very thoughtful. They contacted us the day before to see if we were OK moving our tour an hour earlier so we would have a better chance of seeing the monkeys. We agreed and it definitely paid off. We were the first boat to reach the islands and we were greeted by monkeys. We also let the tour company know about our dietary restrictions (kosher) and they were very helpful in organizing food that we could eat at no extra cost.
Our only regret is not booking another tour with this company (Embera Tribe/Chagres River).

Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our experience. Due to the date of our tour (29 December) bringing a high volume of visitors to the monkey islands, we were given the option of beginning our tour much earlier than expected (0600 Pickup at our hotel in Panama City) so we could beat the rush and see more wildlife. Panama Day Trips in turn provided picnic breakfast & coffee by the lake at Gamboa (picnic lunch at Ft. San Lorenzo already included in the tour). Our tour guide John was very knowledgeable, informative, professional, and personable. Great value and time well spent. Accommodated our dietary needs (vegetarian, no tree nuts). Plenty of bottled water provided. Bring sunscreen & insect repellent. Highly recommend this tour!!!

If you are looking for a tour that's run by someone who's passionate about the ecosystem of the canal, the history of the area, and is serious about what they do without taking themselves too seriously....then this is the tour for you.
Jerin (owner/guide) gets it, he's very knowledgable about the flora and fauna of the area and is able to share it in a way that you can't help but get caught up in his enthusiasm. You will cover a lot of ground, learn a lot, but never feel rushed or pushed.

Our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable, outgoing and attentive. We enjoyed their interesting company, food and were impressed by the fact that every unexpected question was fully answered. Both the driver and the tour guide were fully and equally attentive to their group. Highly recommend this tour and would take any other tours with them! Keep up an amazing job, guys!

Heron the guide was fantastic. We had a very early start specifically to beat the other tours out onto the lake. He had coffee & breakfast for us & with the early start, we watched the sun rise.
1st stop was monkey island to visit Lalo a capuchin rescue being rehabilitated for life in the wild. They called him & he came onboard the boat for grapes & bananas.
Continued around the lake for wildlife spotting, then headed on to the Pacific licks of the canal.
Watched ships pass through.
Finished the day with a trip through the abandoned US military base to San Lorenzo an old Spanish Fort from 1500s.
Returned back to hotel. Wonderful day. Highly recommended.

After an early start, we took an short(ish) ride from Panama City to the boat, where we headed out to see the monkeys on the islands in the Panama Canal. The boat ride was good, passing a few large boats using the canal. We stopped at several islands to feed the monkeys some fruits for breakfast, and returned to the dock after about 90 minutes where they had some chairs and breakfast items out for us (water, juices, fruit, cereal, nutragrain bars). When we left, we headed to the Atlantic side on a bus ride that took over an hour to the ruins of the San Larenzo fort. Stayed there for a few hours walking around and eating a real good sandwich and some plantain chips for lunch. Loaded back into the bus and headed to the Gatun locks, where we watched a Panamax ship come through the first series of locks. To say that these boats are huge would be an understatement. After leaving the locks, we headed back to Panama City to be dropped off at our hotel.
All in all, these guys are real good at what they do. Their timing and sticking to their plans both things that we appreciated very much. They gave us plenty of time to check things out, but also wanted to keep to a schedule. In addition, very knowledgeable about all facets of what the tour was about. They were very open to any conversation and answered all questions that you may have. I’d strongly suggest this trip to anyone that is looking for some structure on their vacation, as well as a broad range of information about the area.

The tour guide, John, was amazing. He was full of interesting information and delivered it in a relatable yet humorous fashion from the beginning of the tour until the very end. At the beginning of the tour he asked that we provide him with requests/input regarding what we wanted to see and throughout the tour did his best to fulfill our requests. The lunch he and his companion prepared was very good and included fresh avocado and pineapple. John was really able to improvise when met with unexpected obstacles. Due to traffic and construction we ran a bit behind schedule, but John gave us the option to get out and walk. During the short walk to the fort we were able to see a family of howler monkeys and much more wildlife than we would have if we had stayed in the bus. This trip was worth every single penny and I wish we had done it sooner on in our trip because John w offered restaurant and night life recommendations at the end of the tour. Highly recommend.

We did the Ocean to Ocean Tour with Owner/Guide Jarin and it was great! We were a group of 5 from ages 4 to 71 and it was excellent for everyone. We opted to start extra early in the morning for the best chance at seeing more wildlife and it was so worth it. We were the only boat on the canal at 6:30am and the howlers were howling. We got to the monkey islands and got to feed several capuchin monkeys (Jarin made sure our daughter got extra grapes to feed them :) and saw howlers, toucans and other birds on our way back to the dock, where half a dozen other boats were just getting ready to head out. They provided breakfast since we started so early, which was good and we watched boats and trains go by while we ate. The locks were fascinating - we watched a big ship go through. We didn't mind the bumpy road to San Lorenzo - so worth it. We walked the last kilometer to the fort and hung out with a family of howlers all around the road with no one else around. The fort itself was very cool and Jarin provided a great history lesson followed by a tasty lunch before we headed home. Top notch trip, guide and operation.

You can book directly via the tour operator’s website (Panama Day Trips). They usually release single spots about one month in advance

Do you lock through the Panama Canal? it says ocean to ocean

Beware of the hidden regulations; they do not book single people and could cancel your tour with very short notice. Communication is very sparse and difficult to get information.
