About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- lisayM9357BT0 contributionsGreat sites & worth the travelThis excursion was worth the long day. Lots of free time & great cultural sites. Our guide was Bogdan & he was chatty & knowledgeable. He knew so much about the sites and seemed to engage with us far more than other guides.Written 16 March 2025
- cathytM8466ES0 contributionsWonderful tour and even better tour guide!!Dan our tour guide was absolutely fantastic! He made a great trip even better with his knowledge, humour and giving a penalty for late returning guests! We would highly recommend this trip, especially if Dan is your guide. From the trouble making ladies, you know who we are!!Written 15 March 2025
- A6413IEashleyg0 contributionsRefused entry to tourI was refused access to this trip at the coach pick up. I have a physical disability but am fit & know what I am capable of doing. We booked on the same castles tour with a different company the next day & I had no problem with them or completing tour of both castles. If you know what you are capable of yourself that should be enough. Funnily enough we saw the man who refused us the day before at the second castle, it was not his fault but company policy issues.Written 13 March 2025
- kearenc20240 contributionsTeam Alex 💯Peles Castle was absolutely beautiful however if you visit in the snowy period wrap up warm we had like a 50 minute wait to get în and it was cold! Our guide was brilliant and was almost militant in making sure we didn't get any line hoppers! Team Alex all the way! Top man😎💪 he was very informative of the traditions and cultural history of beautiful Romania. Thank you for a fantastic day out!Written 12 March 2025
- WhitbyJ0 contributionsBrilliant day tripThe three visits to Peles Castle, Brasov and Bran Castle were great. Our guide was fantastic. Very knowledgeable, friendly and ensured everything went like clockwork. Spent a long time on the coach but it was worth it.Written 10 March 2025
- 888travel0 contributionsOne Excellence Tour - Full Review! This was a really good day out but it’s important to know ALL the costs and the long duration. We had Emanuel as our guide and Jonny as the driver. Both were really good. The meeting point was next to Grand Hotel Bucharest. Don’t get confused re. the coaches on the opposite side of Universitate square – they are for other tour companies. Once you’ve checked in with the QR code, we were split into groups and then the coaches drove round and collected us from where we were waiting at 7:00am. You need to be there at least 20 minutes beforehand because there are a lot of people. The cost for the tour was about €20, however, admission to the two castles is in addition and an extra €35/175 lei. You can either pay this to the guide on the coach, or buy the tickets yourself - but then not have a guide. We got to Peles Castle at 8:45 am and although we were first in line, had to wait 30 minutes until it opened at 9:15am. Be mindful that it’s in the mountains so a lot colder. Emanuel gave us a Whistle-stop tour and we only saw some of the ground floor rooms. Most of the castle is currently in scaffolding. There was a café and just one toilet for women, one toilet for men and it was a 15 - 20 minute wait to use them! I would’ve liked more time at Peles to have seen more of the castle and the grounds. We left at 10:30am. Next stop was Bran castle. We had about 1 and 3/4 hours there. The castle is more impressive from the outside. Looking around inside was very quick. You are given free time to look around the market that sells tourist junk and grab a snack. Final stop was Brasov and we had 2 hours there from 1:45pm. Lovely town with a mediaeval Square and plenty of outside restaurants. We left Brasov at 3:45 pm and got back to Central Bucharest at 7:30pm. Very heavy traffic coming back. I think we drove 400 km and it was a 13 hour day. This was on a Sunday. Emanuel was great and very knowledgeable. I would recommend the tour but it’s a shame Peles was so rushed.Written 9 March 2025
- TheKayfamily0 contributionsBrilliant day with the best guide and driverWe had an amazing day, our guide Emanuel and our driver Nicky were the best. Emanuel put us first by changing the schedule around to avoid crowds as much as possible which was amazing, definitely would book again and would request these guys if possible. Not a terrain for those unsteady on their feet as a lot of steps and cobbles at all three places. Excellent value for moneyWritten 8 March 2025
- AlanL13070 contributionsAmazing! The tour guide was the highlight of the tour. The cost was cheap and I really recommend to everyone who visiting Romania.Written 8 March 2025
- 70vasilikit0 contributionsA bit about the route, the guides, the destinations + tipsThis tour was the best choice of my whole trip to Romania with my partner! It was amazing. 1. The bus was extremely clean and the bus driver very good. 2. The tour guides were excellent! A special thanks to Alex for teaching our group about Romanian history, folklore and politics. 3. The destinations we visited were great and the routes we passed through, we saw Sinaia, Peles Castle, the Carpathian, Brașov and Bran Castle. 4. A little tip, think of questions to ask because the guides are more than adpet to answer them and open an amazing conversation. Also, have some water with you and mind that in Peles Castle the queue for the toilet is long so be patient :)Written 8 March 2025
- Joshua L0 contributionsSolid Tour - Emmanuel was greatTour was as advertised. It’s a full day trip to see two castles and a town. Emmanuel was my tour guide (would try to get him). He was great with timing to see everything and make it back to Bucharest at a reasonable hour and eat dinner etc. Emmanuel was able to navigate around an absolute zoo of other tours which was amazing.Written 2 March 2025

- 833demin0 contributions10/10 - would recommendThis trip was amazing. The tour was excellently planned out and our tour guide, Emmanuel, made sure to make it the best day. All three locations were beautiful. Each gave something different to offer. Peleş castle had the right amount of time to explore but we felt as though we could have spent more time at Bran Castle. Emmanuel was so knowledgeable and keep us entertained the whole time. He was also good at telling us times to be back at the bus which made the trip run smoothly. Couldn’t have asked for a better guide.Written 25 February 2025
- julieeA461AL0 contributionsGood but long day outDespite the early start and being a very long day this is a great trip. Perfect amount of time spent at Peles Castle but would have preferred more time at Dracula Castle and less in Brasov. Our guide was very informative and I learnt a lot about Romanian history + the country. Felt that the snow really added the extra touch!Written 22 February 2025

This was my second time touring Romania’s Countryside. The previous was with Andrei — who took my family and I to the Peles Castle, Bran and Brasov (12 hr tour). From the first experience, While I can unequivocally say that the day tour was well worth it, you may want to consider enrolling in the day two experience (Which is more immersive and tours Transylvania with greater depth).
As for my second tour this June, my tour guide was Ovi. He was above and beyond! Personable, observably well informed about the nuances of Romanias history, accommodating to the groups needs and his upbeat and positive disposition added to the joy of the trip. Romania is definitely not a mainstream place when it comes to tourism, but after embracing these sights, interacting with the people and getting a sense of their hospitality, Romania is just as extravagant, if not more so than otherwise more stereotypical spots in Western Europe. It’s highly underrated and deserves more credit in the tourism sphere. It’s defining, rich and intriguing history coupled by its beautiful castles and villages really bring what the country has to offer to life!
More specifically, one of my favorite spots was Sighișoara: a small ethnic Hungarian village with candid views from the top of its fortified citadel and home to some great restaurants (traditionally Romanian). The trip to this village will also include a stay at a local hotel. The quality and amenities of this hotel would definitely carry a heavy price tag in the west, so relative to it being included in your tour, it’s well worth it! While the website will detail your itinerary, I was impressed to see that Ovi was very receptive to taking the group to other spots off the conventional path, depending on our desires (while still managing our time properly). This included visiting Biertan, a small village on the way to Sibiu that will truly enamor you. While the driving time from one destination to the next may take some time, the van is tip top clean, spacious and Ovi will get you to the next place quickly yet safely.
This is a tour you won’t regret because it can appeal to everyone in some way shape or form. Looking for a food tour? This tour is for you! I recommend trying ‘Sarmale’ (cabbage rolls) and ‘polenta’ (cornmeal). It’s a staple Romanian dish that you can find at one of the restaurants in the main center of Brasov. As for Sibiu, after touring the monastery, try the traditional tripe soup with a light tomato salad. A meal on this tour will not disappoint you. In terms of capturing Romanias history, food essence and immersing yourself in the lifestyle of the people, this tour is for you if you want to gain an all encompassing and tangible perspective of Romania’s Transylvania.
Thanks so much Ovi and Andrei for a lively and memorable experience! I’ll be back!

I contacted One Excellence tours for information on this two day private tour to Transylvania. I was very impressed with how quickly Paul answered the initial inquiry and every subsequent email answering my questions. He set us up with Marius as our driver/guide. Marius showed up as arranged at 7:30am at our hotel in a comfortable Honda CR-V. Because we were touring on a Monday/Tuesday, he recommended doing the usual tour in reverse, as Peles would otherwise be closed. We
went first to Sibiu, where we enjoyed a walk through the center and a cathedral, followed by some free time for lunch, before continuing on to Biertan. After that we went to beautiful mideval Sighisoara, where we checked into a lovely hotel in the center of town. We rested a few minutes, then climbed to the old town area where I took refuge in the shade while my partner climbed the covered stairs to the tower. I had an injury that slowed me down significantly, so Marius was wonderful about telling me which sites were not to be missed and which ones I could sit out and just enjoy via my friend's pictures. We returned to dinner at our hotel and a restful night's sleep. Breakfast was included at the hotel before we sat off for Bran, the supposed castle used in the famed 1897 Bram Stoker's gothic novel, Dracula. Afterwards we spent a short time in Brasov, where although Marius would have been happy to give us more time, we chose to not stay for lunch. The highlight of the tour for me was Peles, our next destination. We encountered an absolute downpour of rain, which I was thankful for. By the time it eased up, we'd had a light lunch at the restaurant there, and the temperature had dropped significantly. After ten days of extremely hot weather, it was welcomed! I thought Peles was beautiful, and we took our time going room to room while Marius explained the history. Often other people were listening in to his stories, I'm sure wishing they had a guide like ours....
All in all, this adventure was worth every penny spent and I'm so glad we used this company. After two rough Covid years for all of us, I'm happy that they are still in business. I'd absolutely recommend One Excellence tours.

We had a wonderful time on the 2 day tour with our guide, Pavel. Because our tour was booked in September, Peles castle was not open on a Tuesday. Pavel was kind enough to do the tour in reverse so we went through the transfagarasan highway (where we saw a few bears!!!) up to Sibiu & Sighisoara on the first day of the tour and then visited the castles and Brasov on the second day which fell on a Wednesday. Pavel was a very insightful guide with great knowledge of the places we visited and spoke excellent English. He provided us with plenty of information while also allowing us to have free time to explore on our own. We saw so many amazing views in the span of just two days & received an authentic cultural experience of Transylvania! Highly recommend this tour!!

My daughter and I had an amazing experience during our 2 day tour of medieval Transylvania. Being my first guided trip in Romania I wasn't sure what to expect. Now I can attest to the incredible quality of and wholeheartedly recommend this 2 day tour. Our guide, Emanuel, made all the difference. He was punctual, courteous, extremely knowledgeable about the local history and geography, and was able to fast track our entrance to Peles and Bran castles so we didn't have to waste any precious time.
Emanuel made sure we were at ease throughout our journey...from being comfortable during the car ride, to getting the lay of the land at each stop, recommending places to eat, rest, and shop (or avoid!) All in all making us feel safe to explore on our own. I am especially grateful for the time he took to explain in very detail all the questions my teenage daughter had about the history, architecture and current social lifestyle of the towns we visited.
The hotel we stayed in Sighisoara, Hotel Bulevard, exceeded my expectations. Super clean, well appointed, comfy bed, quiet and delighting us with scrumptious breakfast and a glorious cappuccino... a perfect start to our second day!
Sighisoara and Sibiu were my favorite places to visit and wish to explore further. Of course everyone is rightfully enamored (my daughter included) with the Peles Castle in Sinaia, an architectural and historical gem that should be on everyone's travel bucket list.
This tour gives the opportunity to see the main attractions at a more leisurely pace. Unlike the one day trip, you also get a taste of the real Transylvania (the Bran Castle, with all its notoriety is not it!). From the magnificent fortified cities and churches to the splendid architecture, from the idyllic countryside dotted with rolling hills and small villages to the delightful cuisine you will be in constant awe, earning for more.
The return drive to Bucharest takes you along the picturesque Olt River, the second largest in Romania. There's about an hour traffic slowdown due to construction on the highway yet the journey afterwards its quite enjoyable. It was fun seeing the significant change in the style of house designs and couryards. We got back shortly after 8pm.

This was our first visit to Romania and had wanted to spend more time in Transylvania rather than Bucharest to see some more of the history and culture of the country. We resisted the temptation of a long one day tour and booked this tour instead as we felt it would give us a better perspective (the tour company also does a 3 day tour which may be better if you have the time).
We booked directly with the company and paid in advance. We received good communication prior to the trip both from the owner and our tour guide.
We met Emanuel with his burgundy minibus outside the Hilton Garden Inn in the Old Town and within a few minutes we could tell that we would enjoy his company and knowledge. We were the only people on this particular tour so this gave us good access to Emanuel and gave us a little more flexibility on timings when we had some bad luck with heavy rain!
We visited some great towns, palaces and churches over 2 full days and learnt so much. Highlights for me were the beautiful Peles Palace and the central areas of Brasov and Sibiu although everywhere was great.
Emanuel gave us some good recommendations for lunch on both days and we enjoyed staying at the hotel in Sighisoara.
Despite taking a more leisurely 2 days for the tour it is still 2 long days as you get back to Bucharest at 7pm (or later if you don’t have good luck with the traffic). Overall throughly recommended and Emanuel deserves a medal for 2 days of driving and commentary!

Emmanuel was our guide for the four of us. Other reviewers have favorably and passionately raved at length about this One Excellence tour guided by our new friend Emmanuel. He really is exceptional at hosting tours.
You can trust him to show you two days of an exciting and fascinating Transylvania that you’ll remember fondly.

We combined this two day tour with another day trip to Constanta. Marius was our tour guide and driver for all three days, and was informative, entertaining and great company!
Peles Castle was amazing. So much wonderful history and fabulous rooms. We got there very early and avoided the crowds, which was much nicer.
Brasov was a nice place to stop for lunch. Lots of tasty looking options, and we had a traditional Romanian meal at “Ceanul” (the cauldron).
Bran Castle was smaller than Peles, but also lovely. Really interesting to see.
The overnight stay was in Hotel Bulevard in Sighisoara. A lovely little family run hotel and restaurant with good value and tasty food.
The second day we did a walking tour of Sighisoara, which was interesting too, then headed to Sibiu and had lunch there, then drove back to Bucharest.
On the final day, we did a day trip to Constanta, where there are some lovely churches and a mosque with fab views. The museum is excellent, showing a great range of artefacts from all eras. We went to the beach afterwards. It was out of season so not much to see but we had a lovely walk on the beach.
Marius came round the castles and museums with us and was really knowledgeable and interesting in what he pointed out.
The vehicle used was a nearly new Renault minivan, which was very comfy. We were supposed to have another couple joining our family for the tour, but then they changed their dates so we ended up with a private tour!
I definitely would recommend this tour company. My parents plan to visit Romania later this year and will be doing one of their tours.

A1 service, my wife and I were picked up at arranged time by emanuel, in a pretty new vehicle. We received a very informative and super friendly tour over the 2 days.
Emanuel was able to give us whatever time we wanted at each of the stops.
The overnight accommodation was at the Hotel Bulevard in Sighisoara, a very nice, comfortable hotel, with good restaurant for dinner and also good included breakfast.
Emanuel quickly became a good friend, we really enjoyed his company, humour
and assistance. We would recommend this tour to anyone and if you are lucky enough to get Emanuel, you're in for a special tour.

The trip was made even more enjoyable due to our guide Marius. His English was great, he explained in detail what we were seeing. We saw other groups not be led that way. For example at Peleş Castle, he explained each room. In the fortified church he explain the side alter vault and the happy tower He was well liked by the people at the places we visited. He made us feel special.

Hello - I am a single traveler. When I try to make a reservation, there is a message that says there must be 2-7 travelers. How do I book for one person? Is this a private tour?
