About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Explore457817501820 contributions$1300 they stole from usThey truly disappointed us. Their conduct is appalling. Such poor drivers. We endured a great deal of hardship.Taking a safari with them was the biggest mistake we have ever made. They founded the company specifically to steal people's money. They must be reported to the police since they will steal more money if they don't keep an eye on this. We received nothing in exchange for the $1300 they stole from us. Only they.Written 22 November 2024
- 367kendrap0 contributionsAmazing Tour! This Romania-guided tour from George was INCREDIBLE! I felt very safe and well taken care of the entire time. Geroge was a great driver, an amazing tour guide, humorous and always willing to answer any question. If you are interested in traveling to Romania even for a short trip, I highly recommend George!Written 8 October 2024
- reneepU8513UV0 contributionsFabulous tourWe enjoyed our 11 day private tour with George. He’s an expert driver, a knowledgeable guide, humorous guy, and showed us the real Romania. Great locations, fantastic homemade food, and very photogenic.Written 7 October 2024
- trang20100 contributionsExcellent private tour of TransylvaniaOver a year ago I originally booked a solo private custom tour with George to visit Transylvania. Due to personal reason, I rescheduled the tour a couple times and finally made it in July with the addition of 3 more persons. George was absolutely friendly, easy to work with, honest and knowledgeable about Romania. George responded very quickly to all questions. All the accommodations were great, including King Charles’ guesthouse and a beautiful guesthouse in Malancrow. Even the hotel near the airport , Vienna house, was wonderful. George also included in his quote, 2 wonderful home cooked lunches. I cannot say enough how outstanding the service rendered by George. Anyone who wishes to visit Romania should contact George. I hope even with the popularity , George can continue keeping his cost reasonable.Written 21 August 2024
- Andrew M0 contributionsOvernight tour to the delta.George was a truly great tour guide. His english was excellent. He was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about running tours, his country, and learning about the world himself. I would recommend anyone who wants to do a tour in romania to book george. You will learn a lot and have a host that goes above and beyond the standard tour. George provided a personalized service that exceeded our expectations.Written 7 July 2024
- lockhartl20180 contributions14 days magnificent experience in RomaniaWe had spent 14 days in Romania with the assistance of George Trandafir who was a smart, reliable, passionate and resourceful gentleman. He gave a lot of advice and accept my certain request patiently. Finally an impeccable itinerary was tailor made. At the beginning of the journey, we were leaded by his staff who was very polite and helpful. George prepared a detail program list for the driver to ensure everything was on the right track. Besides, he closely contacted with me to answer our question and recommend restaurants for us so we could taste the wonderful local cuisine. After the Sighisoara trip, George took up his staff’s duty. He demonstrated his professional ability and profound knowledge on Romania in all aspect. He drive very safe that provided a comfortable journey and his vehicle was spacious. Above all, he also arranged different attractions for us to experience the natural beauty of his mother country. Furthermore, I would like to say thanks to George for finding my lost drone. :) Romania was disregarded and underrated by most tourists. She possessed diversity of land features and historical structure for tourist to explore. Under the guide of George, we were blown away by the mother nature of Romania especially in Danube Delta where different species of birds lived peacefully and harmonically with each other. I wish to visit this lost horizon again in Autumn time and George is my unique choice.Written 6 July 2024
- Y9338VYallant0 contributionsA Great Transylvania Tour with GeorgeWe toured Transylvania with George Trandafir. He is a most likeable and very knowledgeable gentleman. George was actively involved in helping us to plan our itinerary. His hotel recommendations were excellent as were his restaurant suggestions while on tour. George knows Romania quite well and knows the best sites to see and when best to see them. He was very generous with his time, quite flexible, always on time and a pleasure to be with. Overall, we found George to be a great guide who provided us with an enjoyable and memorable experience at a fair price. We highly recommend George!! Allan and Janet from Canada.Written 19 June 2024
- comiske0 contributionsCultural, walking and dining experience in Transylvania. We loved everything about the places we visited in Transylvania. Our guide George gave us vital information on what were the most interesting places to visit, for example the Evangelical church in Sibiui. Our stay in Breb was magical.Written 16 June 2024
- SavvyTraveller7650 contributionsGreat 5 day Transylvania tour with George!I would highly recommend George, the owner and guide for Touring Romania. First, he was very accommodating and helpful as we designed our five day Transylvania tour. He was very friendly, very knowledgeable about Romania and speaks English very well. His SUV was very comfortable with lots of space for two couples. All four of us very much enjoyed our five days with George.Written 12 June 2024
- Road2212470 contributionsAwesome RomaniaRomania is as country with old world charm, entrenched traditions, and modern conveniences. We loved touring Romania with George. George is very passionate and knowledgeable about Romania and it’s history. He used this knowledge to put things into context when visiting the amazing castles, churches, villages, etc. George was amazingly flexible and changed up the tour to accommodate our interests. The days were full but not rushed. The hotels we stayed at were clean and comfortable. The food was great, but if you are vegetarian or vegan, Romania might be a challenge. George is an ace tour guide; personable, funny, helpful,I could go on. Go see Romania with George and discover its hidden gems.Written 3 June 2024
- Stay426489819290 contributionsWonderful TourAfter a conference in Bucharest, we went on a short tour with George along with 7 other conference attendees. It was a fantastic trip to the beautiful Transylvania area of Romania. Although, we covered a lot of ground in a 3-day trip, George's meticulous planning ensured we never felt rushed, and he made sure he budgeted some time so people on the tour were free to do some shopping, a hike etc. The selection of hotels was excellent, right at the center of town, very convenient to major sights and restaurants. George made everyone feel at home and he provided wonderful overviews of the different sights we were visiting. He was very attentive and took everybody's needs into consideration. Multumesc George.Written 1 June 2024
- tharindrar0 contributionsWonderful tour of TransylvaniaI travel quite a bit and do not usually get tour guides. But because this one is for Eastern (as opposed to Western) Europe, a friend suggested to me that it's better to join an organized tour. That was a great piece of advice and the tour I picked with George (who owns Touring Romania) was absolutely wonderful. The tour covered a number of scenic towns and castles in Transylvania and you'd enjoy it immensely if you're into natural beauty and/or history. George was very friendly, very professional, and knowledgeable. He's great at striking the right balance between giving you interesting information and not overloading you with it. The van ride was great because he explained things but there was also plenty of quiet time to just soak in the scenery or just have a little nap. Also, the pace of the tour was just right. We covered numerous sights and there was plenty of time for us to explore each town on our own. I would highly recommend this tour. One final tip - Before leaving Brazov, I'd highly recommend you take the cable car to the Tampa mountaintop. The views from the top are amazing. The service starts at 9:30 and if you make it to the ticketing office about 20-30 minutes in advance and catch the first car up, you should have enough time to go where the big Brazov sign is, soak in the view, take some pictures, take the cable car down, and be back at the hotel for 10:30 departure.Written 25 May 2024
- 976yiwenl0 contributionsExcellent country, excellent view, excellent guideWe are a group of 9 colleagues travelled with George. It is really great in all senses. I didn’t really know how to imagine Romanian views other than Dracula, but it is really awesome. Especially the villages and also the meal in the village. It is a very local experience in a world heritage village, peaceful, with mountains as a background. And so delicious food and drinks, even the bathroom is so clean! The pace of the tour is another shine. Our group have both people in their 60s and in their 20s, from 3 different continents - apparently we are all quite happy😂. George gave us a lot of options on what we could do once we arrive at a nice medieval city, and we just do what we find interesting. It is really relaxing while full of discoveries. And he has great restaurant recommendations (and takes good pictures). And I must highlight our guide George was very very nice and helpful!! Another stupid thing I did is to forget my jacket in a previous hotel.. I thought I’m gonna lose it or sth, but George helped contacted the hotel and managed to find another guide there who will visit the same restaurant as we will - and the other guide agreed to bring my jacket for free:) our guide is really doing a splendid job. He’s a problem solver. And people are so nice here.Written 21 May 2024
- SusanneLeeH0 contributionsBrilliant!!!Loved, loved Romania and George's knowledgeable and easy-going tour guide skills and manner. We saw castles, villages, cities, churches, private residences, and resorts, and participated in holiday and religious celebrations and local customs and practices. We learned about Romania's complex history-- the Saxons, Hungarians, Ottomans, Soviets, the EU, and more. Our days were full, yet we weren't rushed. Site visits and driving times were balanced. I definitely recommend George's tours. .Written 21 May 2024
- stevenoV5834CF0 contributionsA Hidden GemI just returned from almost three weeks in Romania, and it is definitely a hidden gem. There is so much to see-mountains, lakes, big cities, smaller cities and towns that still retain their old-world character, and so much more. George was our guide for two weeks, and he was great. He was very knowledgeable and helpful, and was willing to provide any extra support that was needed. He was also very funny, and a pleasure to be with. I learned a lot from him. I am definitely planning to go back to Romania. I think it's only a matter of time before the word gets out, and they see a lot more tourists.Written 16 May 2024

The short and long of it is: if journeying across Transylvania in the care of a friendly, knowledgeable, and unflappable guide who will tailor the itinerary to your every need appeals to you, then you should choose Touring Romania. My friend and I approached George (the guide) with specific interests in traditional life, history, and hiking the countryside, and over the course of three months and 80+ e-mails we put together the two-week tour of a lifetime. If I said, “I’d like to learn how to cook traditional food,” George responded with, “I know a lady in Breb who would be happy to teach you.” When I said, “I’d like to walk between these two villages,” he answered, “The sheep dogs on that route can be unfriendly; let’s have the shepherd drive us in his horse-drawn cart to his sheepfold, and then after a lunch of fresh cheese, bread, and tomatoes, we can have him drop us off at the forest so we can walk the rest of the way.”
When it rained, he had umbrellas; when we were hungry he knew the best places to eat (and the best gelato stands for dessert!); when we explored old cities he explained the history in the clear, storytelling manner of a born teacher. Since I’d studied the history before coming, I asked him question after question – and he always had an answer. (But if I hadn’t been so interested, he would have spoken about something else with equal cheer. I’ve never met a person so able to put anyone and everyone he met at their ease so quickly.) Together we navigated the crowded corridors of Bran Castle, learned how to work a loom, and trekked up a mountain lush with wild raspberries. In every situation, I never saw him anything other than positive, resourceful, and considerate of everyone else’s needs.
Whether you are looking for someone to handle all the details or you would like a tour personalized around your interests, you couldn’t find a better tour guide than George or company than Touring Romania.

My daughter and I were looking for a memorable trip to follow our roots. It was something we always had in our bucket list. George, our incredible tour guide made it possible. He went above and beyond to customize this experience for us. He was very knowledgeable and helpful with everything we needed and wanted to be included in our trip. Not only he was knowledgeable and passionate about every city, village and town history but he always answered all our questions with patience adding interesting anecdotes which in turn brought memories to our lives. The tour was very well organized in a timely manner. Every day we had a new experience traveling throughout Romania. We had excellent weather and the change of colors were astonishing. We were so lucky to have found George as our tour guide! He was the most kind, accommodating and fantastic guide we could have ever wish for. He constantly offered superior attention to our needs.
It was a truly pleasurable and memorable experience!

George is an excellent tour guide and passionate Romanian. Since he books/plans/guides/drives you are in his care and under his watchful eye the whole trip. He listens to what you want and delivers the product and first class service. By default we were two 70s well traveled worldly women one got Covid and George adapted the trip and we carried on. No fuss. George is the best!

There were three of us who did a 14 day tour with George. It was an incredible 14 days. George is a fantastic guide and driver. He is an expert on Romanian history and added interesting and valuable insights to all the places we visited. George was very flexible and open to things outside the tour itinerary. We have a really good understanding of Romania and its history thanks to George. One of our group had done a similar tour 2 years ago with George and was so impressed she wanted to go back.
If you want to see Romania, George is the one to lead the way!

A great introduction and overview of Romania from the Danube delta to the old mountainous regions of the north .
This was a private tour arranged for us so will have differed from the standard tour as we wanted to visit wineries as well.
Excellent, very hard working and very knowledgeable guide (George Trandir the owner). Excellent English. Comprehensive knowledge of Romanian history.

George was a fabulous tour guide and driver. Everything was taken care of and we experienced most all of the must see places in Romania. George was open to changes based on our likes and dislikes and took care of us as if we were family. He was so knowledgeable about the places we visited and the history. If he didn’t know an answer to our questions he would find the answer. As far as places to stay he found us the hidden gems, and the wonderful home cooked meals in villager’s homes. I would love to take his tours again and highly recommend him to anyone. He provides the perfect way to experience the delightful country of Romania at a reasonable price.

I went on this tour with George and i can say without a doubt that this was the most complex and fun vacation i had. The places we stayed at were almost stolen from old medieval paintings. The places we visited were carefully picked and explained by George.
Also his driving skills are great, which only enriched the experience.
