Plitvice Lakes and Rastoke Day Tour from Zagreb
USD 100.05
Overview
Visit the UNESCO-listed Plitvice Lakes National Park and riverside village of Rastoke on this full-day trip from Zagreb. Traveling by air-conditioned minivan, stop in Rastoke, dubbed the ‘Little Plitvice,’ and see its cascades and watermills before continuing to Plitvice proper. Here, take a 4-hour sightseeing tour, admiring the lakes and waterfalls by foot, boat, and tram. Finish with lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant before returning to Zagreb. Entrance fees included.
What to Expect
Depart central Zagreb by air-conditioned minivan, and travel south toward Plitvice.

Stop in Turanj to view the Homeland War Memorial, dedicated to the Croatian soldiers killed here during the War of Independence between 1991 and 1995.

Then, break for a stroll and coffee (own expense) in Rastoke, a picture-perfect village dubbed the ‘Small Lakes of Plitvice.’

This historical town fringes the River Slunjčica near its junction with Plitvice’s River Korana, and is famed for its waterfalls. Admire the cascades along with the watermills and distinctive stone-and-wood architecture.

Next, continue to UNESCO-listed Plitvice Lakes National Park. Composed of 16 lakes joined by waterfalls, the park is famed for its beauty and lakes’ changing hues, which shift from turquoise to emerald and gray depending on their mineral content and the angle of sunlight.

Take a guided tour, following the wooden walkways over the lakes and enjoying the beauty of the rushing cascades. On route, take a boat and tram ride to absorb the scenery.

After four hours at Plitvice, enjoy a classic Croatian lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant, with your guide recommending dishes and drinks (own expense).

Finally, return to Zagreb, where your tour ends at the departure point.

Cheaper to use public buses and beat the tourist rush

Our guide was great and it was certainly nice to have his commentary on the lakes and Croatia in general. But I just have to say the tour was not worth the cost. It would have been 3x cheaper to take the public bus. Plus...More
