          Excellent
Bultrips are the best. Small groups and excellent service. We had a wonderful time and learned a lot about Bulgaria in this tour. We highly recommend it nd will definitely choose Bultrips again.

Excellent tour to Thracian tombs from Sofia
It's exciting to see the Thracian tombs and rose museum. The tour guide Krasi is soooooo nice! He made the whole trip done smoothly and provided plenty of information. It's the best tour I've ever had! Highly recommended!

          Well beyond expectations
This is one of the best day tours we have ever done. Excellent value for money. Daniel is an outstanding guide. Picked us up at our AirBnb address no problem. Ride was comfortable. Daniel was extremely knowledgeable on the history of Sofia which is no tall order as the history is complicated and highly nuanced. We visited plenty of historical ruins and places of worship - with plenty of time for a relaxing lunch and walk through the main shopping and restaurant mall. If we could give more than 5 stars we would! Highly recommend this trip!! You won’t be disappointed!!

3 day motorbikes friends Beklemato, Arch of Freedom, Plovid, Bansko, Rila monastery and Sofia
I have to say that it was definitely a success to find Adrian/Daniel and their business. It has been totally a success and a pleasant surprise to find trips-bg.com and use their motorcycle rental service. We are 5 friends who have been traveling once a year for 11 years to a different country each time. All five of us agreed that this trip to Bulgaria has been one of the best and It was basically thanks for finding Adrian/Daniel and his business which was totally a luck and a success. it is true that, nlike official rentals, they do not have their own workshop or shop like other official sites, but the motorcycles were really in excellent and optimal condition. And, above all, everything was very, very easy to organize with them, with a very good flow of contact. Also, the route and the recommendations that they proposed were excellent. It was basically 3 days of motorcycle riding and around 1000 kms. If anyone needs more information or suggestions, they can write to me at: tussini69@googlemail.com

          Fantastic guide & tour
The guide was fantastic, so knowledgeable about all the sights. Our tour had 4 plus the guide, so a great group size. We went to the fortress first, then the monastery so it would be quieter. That also gave us the maximum amount of free time in Plovdiv. The monastery is the 2nd largest and is very beautiful. The fortress has amazing views. Plovdiv was great and the guide covered all the key areas before we spent some free time. A great day trip to explore these sights

Masterclass in Thracian history and access to sites you’re unlikely to visit otherwise. Well worth the effort.
This one is for the history & archeology fans… The things you want to know: Pick up was on time at our location, travel was in a comfortable vehicle and stops for stretching legs, toilets and refreshments were planned in so absolutely no need to worry about any of that. It is a long day but it is worth it… Our Guide: Hugely knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his subject. Time passed quicker on route simply because of all the information he was able to impart. Spoke very good English so easy to understand and equally happy to take plenty of questions. Good luck asking him something about Bulgarian history he can’t answer! The Trip: The first stop is just a teaser and then on to the museum. Having the guide is essential, the artefacts in the museum are brought to life through the knowledge of the guide. Stopped for a quick bite and then on to the other tombs. These tombs were all unique but all fascinating and amazing giving an incredible insight into Thracian culture. Should I go? Well, if history is your thing, when else are you ever going to see and enter burial tombs from the 4th century BC? Or spend time with an expert in the history of Bulgaria or Thrace in particular? Book it now.

          Great day out in Plovdiv
The guide arrived promptly at 8:30, we travelled in a small, but comfortable mini van as there was only one other person on the tour. The drive took a little over two hours with a short stop on the way to get snacks, stretch our legs. We went on a great walking tour around Plovdiv, with stops the see the stadium, theatre and one of the houses in the old town. We then had time to have lunch and wander on our own before heading to the fortress and monastery. Both were fascinating in different ways. The guide was friendly and professional and very knowledgeable.

          Beautiful scenery
Great scenic views almost non-stop. Definitely worth seeing. Traveller warning 1 Did require an inclined hike, nothing overly strenuous but hard on children, elderly with health issues. 2 Did end up fairly remote, with the bathroom facilities becoming more and more 'rustic' - take toilet paper.

          Worth seeing
Daniel the tour guide was great, making really interesting conversation providing up close stories of the politics and culture at play overtime. Definitely worth seeing the monument if you are interested in architecture, engineering or communism especially because it might not survive too much longer. It is a long drive though.

Very good guide , small van, some interesting sites , and historical places. I probably would not go again but at least it was good to have some informative information about Serbia

          Incredible
What an amazing tour! The caves are incredible! It is a day long trip, but totally worth it! Also the tourguide Daniël was a really nice guy and told the interrasting story a long the way. And for lunch he tooks to a real Balkan restaurant with enough to choose from! 100% can reccomend this trip!

Excellent, but be sure to eat a large breakfast!
This was a jam-packed day trip, which was SO appreciated. Some day trips seem to only include time in the specified city, but this one had three unique stops, time for lunch in Niš, and excellent commentary by the guide. The one drawback was that all of the stops took place before lunch and we weren’t able to eat until around 2:30pm. Once we made it to Niš, our guide lacked urgency when it came to taking us to an appropriate lunch spot, which made my very hungry friend and me frustrated. That said, as long as you book the trip with the knowledge that you’ll be having a late lunch and plan accordingly, you should thoroughly enjoy yourself.

Sadly, the language barrier was a significant drawback
I really wanted to enjoy this day trip, but the reality is that I received no educational value from it - at all. Our tour guide was as nice as could be, so it doesn’t feel good to be critical, but his accent made learning anything from him unbearably difficult. My friend and I took this trip on a rainy day, which wasn’t ideal. But, the weather was less of a drawback than our guide’s difficult accent. The trip was advertised on TripAdvisor as having a 9:30am pickup and starting with a trip to the Museum of Socialist Art. Well, it ended up having an 8am pickup and we went straight to the Buzludzha Monument. Patrons should know in advance what their accurate itinerary will be, so I didn’t appreciate this discrepancy. It was a long journey to the Buzludzha Monument and one with little educational commentary. We were told that the commentary would commence once we reached the monument, but it was honestly so difficult to understand that it provided no value to us. The lunch stop was affordable and delicious, so that was appreciated. I also really appreciated that our guide waited as we watched the ~25-minute film at the Museum of Socialist Art. The “museum” was more of an exhibition of art, but it was still enjoyable — especially the outdoor portion. To summarize, our guide was patient and kind, but English-speaking tourists expect more clarity when it comes to the accent of their guide. I’d be lying if I said I was 100% satisfied with how the day went.

          Definitely worth the experience
This is a great way to visit another country while in Sofia. Daniel was our driver and guide and he was great. We didn’t know much about Niš but this tour certainly changed that. The Skull Tower and concentration camp were dark but impactful. The city of Niš surprised us to the upside- it’s on a river and has a cool vibe. We dined at the Crazy Horse because it is right on the river and has a nice view; though it is not Serbian food, I would recommend. I do wish we had more time in Niš city center and I also wish the stop made on the way there should not be at the snack hut at the border. The food there in packages were expired. I recommend bringing food/drink with you on the tour and if you stop at the snack hut at the border, check expiration labels!

Man, I am so glad I took this trip. When I was originally researching day trip options out of Sofia I figured Skopje looked boring (just a bunch of monuments) and opted for a trip to Plovdiv instead. When I realized there wasn't much in terms of sightseeing in Sofia I signed up for this trip and couldn't have been happier with my decision.

The driver was fantastic knew a ton about the history of the region and could answer questions that may be a bit more controversial (e.g. Macedonia's history with Greece etc.) from a perspective that wasn't Macedonian. I lucked out that when I arrived the other two people on my trip had been before and decided to spend their time shopping/not doing the tour so I basically had a private tour. Skopje is an incredible city with an interesting history and a ton to see - you won't regret visiting it despite how packed the day is.

One note: I wish I could've spent more time in the city - the tour (although they don't advertise this) allows you to spend the night there and drive you back the next day. If you have more time I'd definitely inquire about this option, I wish I could've seen the nightlife or even how the city looked at night. Hopefully one day I can return to Skopje!

We loved our trip to Skopje! It was great to see another country while staying in Sofia. Skopje is an amazing city and Mike (our guide in Skopje) was excellent in providing the history and facts - we really enjoyed our time with him. He did not rush the tour, answered all our questions and made our time in Skopje very fun! Adrian was a very safe driver and also provided information on Sofia and Bulgaria in general - was very happy to answer all our questions. It is a long drive, but it would highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I had a free day on our 3-day trip to Sofia because we saw all that we wanted to, so we booked this trip to Skopje to fill this day. And it was THE MOST BEAUTIFUL part of our trip!! The guide picked us in front of the hotel and on our way to Skopje he told us a lot of informations that we didn’t know about Bulgarian and Macedonian history, and our 3,5 hour ride went by really fast!
In Skopje we met our local guide and had a 2 hours city tour, and than guides suggested we go to Matka Canyon and it was wonderful! The boat ride, the beautiful cave.. The whole day was perfect and was the highlight of our 3-day trip! Thank you to guides Adrian and Mike who made this trip even more memorable!

We used Bultrips for this tour to North Macedonia. For a very last minute booking, I was very impressed at the speed of Bultrip’s responses to emails and online chat. They had great customer service. We were picked up on the dot by Adrian, the tour driver. Adrian was very friendly and he drove tirelessly (about 3.5 hours) from Sofia to Skopje. We were actually really pleased Adrian gave the group lots of quiet time during the trip. We were also stopped at a Petrol Kiosk to get refreshments and use the toilet (which was super clean). When we arrived at Skopje, we were introduced to our actual tour guide, Mike (Michael). The group loved Michael for he was a great guide. He was really friendly, knowledgeable about the history of Skopje and he even bought us some traditional Turkish desserts in the Old town. (Thank you Mike, we didn’t get to thank you personally but the gesture was greatly appreciated). In the 2 hours in Skopje, Mike took us around the new and old parts of the City. I wished we could have spent more time in Skopje for the trip to get there was longer than the tour itself (about 3.5 hours there, and 4.5 hours back).

Given the short span of time at Skope, I would definitely recommend anyone to grab a quick bite and use the time to venture the old and new parts of the City. That was the only thing I wished Mike could have pre-warned us. Avoid our mistake by sitting in a touristy restaurant waiting for the food to arrive as that itself took about 45min – 50 mins. We wasted precious time doing that.

All in all, I would recommend this tour to Skopje for the history of the place is interesting and the scenery through the mountains was interesting. But do make sure that you are prepared to sit through a very long car journey for a rather short tour.

Hello, Thank you very much for your kind words for our team and our service. Regarding the time you've spent in Skopje, I would like to note that everything is described in our itinerary and we do our best to prepare our guests for the trip. I'm really sorry that you have not read the description, as it is really a nice one and you would not be surprised by the length of the tour. Regarding the restaurant, our clients are free to choose the place where they have their lunch. I'm sorry that it took a long time for your food to be served, but we can't help this and it does not depend on us. The way our clients spend their free time is their own choice, as we have noted in the description of the tour. Wish you many more wonderful trips. Best regards, Bultrips team

I loved this trip...pick up from outside the hotel and drop off as well. Our driver was extremely helpful, fluent in English and very approachable. Arrived in Skopje and our tour guy there was fantastic, fluent in English and very knowledgeable on history. He managed to sort out a currency exchange of Bulgarian Lev to the currency Macedonion Denar so we could buy drinks and gifts. Overall a great trip, only downer is its a long bus trip but it is definitely worth it, would highly recommend the trip to anyone

A great trip but a long journey. Our driver Daniel was exceptional and knowledgeable. He was also very attentive and took care of everyone in the group. The drive to Skopje was about 4 hours and apart from the border guard on the Macedonia being a little obstructive, it was uneventful. I think Bulgaria beating Macedonia one nil at soccer the night before didn’t help our cause. Our guide in Skopje was again very informative and took time to make sure all our questions were answered. There was so many interesting events to be explored I can’t do the trip justice on here. The bottom line is this is a must do trip for anyone with a day to spare in Sofia. The 8 hours in a mini bus are well worth it for the 4 hours of culture in Skopje.

        Loved every second of this.

Even the border crossing was an experience, led by someone who joked about the existing tensions between the two nations - then to see the exchanges play out were hilarious.

I also enjoyed the random stops at petrol stations en route - something you don't normally get to experience.

Skopje itself is great and our guide was so friendly. The weather was appalling when we visited, so I'd guess it spoiled it somewhat, but you can really tell it's a hidden gem - especially as the guides from both countries are very passionate about their heritage.

The two hours to explore are adequate, too.

Our Bulgarian driver was faultless throughout the trip, very funny and talked to us about the history of the region.
The drive is roughly 4hrs there and back so his commentary and jokes made the time fly. He even made a stop to get us umbrellas because it was raining which he didn’t have to do. A lovely guy.

When we got dropped off in Skopje we met the Macedonian guide, he was unfortunately probably our least favourite part of the tour, he quietly talked to us about where to find “a good time” in the city and gave us his contact card for more information. Once we had finished the Skopje part of the tour, he took us to a restaurant which seemed to show a commission based agreement to bring tourists past for the business.

We had 2 hours of free time which we enjoyed and went for lunch at the London Inn off the centre. Would recommend visiting. Good food and drinks.

Then it was time to get back with our Bulgarian guide in the van for our trip back to Sofia. Again an absolutely flawless experience. He was the highlight of our trip.

I have given this 5 stars for the Bulgarian driver and for our visit of Skopje. However the Macedonian guide experience did put a sour taste on the whole trip. I would recommend going on this tour as it was a valuable experience to learn about the country of North Macedonia.

I wanted to visit Skopje and North Macedonia but without having to pay for a whole new air fare and hotel to do it. I found this Skopje day tour from Sofia and I’m glad I booked it, it was the perfect way for me to see this new destination. A big thanks to our tour guides Dimo and Lena for delivering this memorable experience that introduced us to Skopje and North Macedonia, because of them we had an amazing day! Dimo picked me up from my hotel at 8 am, introduced me to our group at and drove us about 3 and a half hours to Skopje arriving at around 11 am, we gained an hour due to the time difference. We stayed in Skopje for 4 hours, doing a guided walking tour with our wonderful tour guide Lena for 2 hours and then taking 2 hours of free time to do whatever we liked in the city. There was much to see in Skopje and I took lots of great pictures and videos, I loved my time there! At 3 pm Skopje time we met back with Dimo and he drove us back to Sofia, arriving at around 8 pm. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this tour, I was able to see a new destination without having to pay for another airfare and hotel accommodation. If you’re in Sofia and are curious about Skopje and North Macedonia don’t hesitate to book this tour, it’s an excellent way to get a glimpse at this city and country. - Nolan

I decided to take this tour from Sofia to Skopje though I had been feeling a bit worried about the long distance to cover and the cold weather conditions on Bulgarian and North Macedonian slopes. Thankfully, it turned out to be one of the most fascinating travelling experiences ever. Christo, a very helpful and well educated guide and driver, took us to our destination; always willing to give information about a great variety of topics, to introduce us concisely into cultural aspects of Bulgaria and much more, and at the same time, to express a profound interest in broadening his own perspective. He made me feel that I spent some quality time with a “friend”.
Michael, the local guide, was waiting in Skopje to take us around for a two hour walking tour. What I will never forget is his warm welcome and his pure enthusiasm to show us around. With interesting points to present (history and much information on contemporary life), he is more than successful in accompanying any tourist in the narrow streets of Skopje without being tiring at all.
I would highly recommend this visit. It really evolved better than expected. I am so happy to meet two conscientious professionals who really contributed to make my holidays unforgettable. Christo and Michael, keep on with your great work!!!
