About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- weasel990 contributionsWonderful first time experience on via ferrata with one of the best guides!Wonderful and fun experience! Having had 0 prior experience of outdoor climbing or via ferrata we opted to just do the Trebevic route. Huge thanks and shoutout to our great guide Kenan, the only Bosnian we met who actually laughed. As another reviewer mentioned, he struck the perfect balance of being both professional and humorous. At the beginning he made sure we were well-briefed and equipped before the climb. During the climb itself, he was patient with us complete noobs and gave advice about which holds to use, how to navigate certain tricky spots, etc. He constantly kept an eye on the whole group, so we didn't feel unsafe at any point even though we were pretty high up. He also showed us some native plants and explained their uses, and even picked up litter along the return trail -- bonus points for sustainable actions! Not to mention he made the logistics extremely convenient by arranging pickup and even adjusting the meeting time to accommodate our schedule (we had another tour in the afternoon). While the climb had some tricky spots and can be a little tiring, the Trebevic route is totally doable for beginners even if you're not too athletic -- you just need to be in decent physical shape and tackle the route slowly. However, good shoes or hiking books are a must. All worth it for the amazing experience (the sick views are a plus too)! We thoroughly enjoyed this activity and should we ever return to Sarajevo, we'd be open to trying the other routes too.Written 4 October 2024
- WorldTravelerSince0 contributionsIt was an amazing experienceIt was an amazing experience. Our guide Kenan was fantastic. He picked us up from Mostar at an affordable cost and was very kind throughout the trip. The pacing was great, and we had plenty of time for breaks and to take pictures. Kenan is very knowledgeable about the terrain and the history of the land. Kenan provided lunch for us and a goodie bag with all sorts of chocolates and energy bars. We strongly recommend him for all your hiking needs in Bosnia and Herzegovina.Written 30 August 2024
- tjallingo20230 contributionsAmazing!!It was an really good experience. Sometimes a little difficult but for doing Via Ferata for the first time, it was amazing. Me and my wife are very happy that we’ve done this tour and we would highly recommend it to anyone! Make sure you bring good climbing shoes and enough water.Written 11 August 2024
- 559luuks0 contributionsDe uitzichten tijdens de pauzes en tijdens het hangen aan de berg zijn de klim zeker waard.Would definitely recommend this activity. The guide was very helpfull & patient. The route was challenging but do-able.Written 2 August 2024

- LeilaOara0 contributionsBreathtaking views and expert guidanceI recently had the absolute joy of exploring the Ferrata at Crvena Stijena with Kenan, and wow, it was epic! Kenan nailed the perfect combo of being super professional and totally chill which made the adventure unforgettable. He navigated the event like a pro, dropping insightful nuggets of info while keeping things light and fun. Kenan was always keeping an eye on us, making sure we were safe and giving us tips when needed, but he also let us tackle challenges on our own (which I really liked). His balance of expert guidance and friendly personality made everyone feel both informed and entertained. If you're looking for a tour guide who's as smart as he is friendly, Kenan's your guy. Highly recommended!Written 29 July 2024

Really great hike through the mountains with gorgeous sights of many mountain peaks, rolling meadows, and breathtaking mountain valleys. We did the hike there and back, it was more challenging than we thought but our group of 6 with various hiking fitness levels got through with everyone enjoying it. The village was great to see and had delicious food. Kenan, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the region, the surrounding nature, and he paced the hike well for such a heterogenous hike.

I rarely go to hiking, but this time to Sarajevo was surprisingly attended by Lukomir's hiking. There were five Swedish grandmothers on the road besides me. The whole route is easy and perfect for Novices! The wind was also cool, cooler than in the city, and there was some water supply along the way. Guide Kenan is nice and funny, dances, has a lot of climbing experience, and it's fun to follow him around. He also learned what he could and could not eat on the mountain road. After crawling to the small village, I also tried on a traditional dress handmade by my grandmother, which was super beautiful! There's plenty of room to climb up to the top again. It's super nice! Already looking forward to the next hiking:))

We had such an amazing time on this hiking tour! If you are unsure whether to book, do it! Our guide Kenan was so knowledgeable both about the flora and fauna and the culture of the region and went out of his way to ensure we had the best time ever. Lukomir village is wonderful and lunch at the family run restaurant in the village was delicious - and all foraged from the surrounding mountains!
This was most definitely the best part of our holiday (and that’s saying something since we had a long trip with multiple countries!)

An absolute must if you visit Bosnia! We opted for the 1-way tour per the recommendation of our guide as we were hiking with kids aged 11, 9, 7, and 1. The 8km hike to Lukomir was a workout but it was worth it. The kids had a blast and Kenan, our guide was absolutely wonderful. He shared his knowledge of the history, culture, and wilderness. If we booked another hike it would definitely be with Highlander Adventures!

This is one of the best tour companies that I have come across so far. We contacted them in last minute before out trip to Bosnia, it was in haste and we did not expect them to be so accommodating let alone replying. Not only did they communicate with us promptly, they arranged a trip so memorable that we long to go back soon.
Mirza was our tour guide. Dude was very flexible, accommodating and very passionate about mountains. He understands the physical challenges that noob hikers like me faces and is super caring, non-judgemental, and extremely funny (trust me, this quality is important!). Our one was a day hike and we stayed back at the top of mountains in a small village in Lukomir. The stay up there was heavenly. The food, the lodge, the people, the WATER, everything was perfect. Everything was part of the Highlander package, including the drop-off at the Tuzla airport next day.
Whoever is considering a trip there, go with Highlander. Worth every penny.

2 beautiful days with the Guide! We were a group of several girls: Kenan took care of us very well and made us discover his country with passion.
The visit to Sarajevo's old town was magical: Kenan knew how to convey to us the love he has for this city and all its history.
He took all the time he needed to finish his program, so we salute his patience!
And what to say about hiking: the landscape was beautiful but what captivated most were the little stories he shared throughout the visit.
He also introduced us to Bosnian food in very authentic places.
Thank you Kenan for your time, investment, patience and professionalism.
I recommend 100%

Our guides were professional, friendly, historically knowledgeable, helpful, and generally contributed to an amazing day. The hike wouldn't be the same without them. I strongly recommend booking through highlander, whether as a large group or solo. Lukomir itself is a hidden gem!

This is an exceptionally beautiful hike with stunning views and varied terrain. What made it really special was all of the extra knowledge that Kenan imparted before and during the hike. He shared the history and legends of this region including the conflicts both older and more recent, pointed out and explained about landmarks, ancient artifacts, the local architecture and how it relates to the environment, and all of the many useful plants growing in the mountains. Kenan ensured that the pace suited us and that we had plenty to eat and drink. The lunch was awesome. We came away with a much greater appreciation of this amazing country and its people.

This hiking tour was amazing. Hands down the best tour on our trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The guide is very easy going, earnest, genuine and caring. He reads the crowd very well and adapts the pace of the tour so that everyone is comfortable. Also, he brings snacks that come in very handy during the tour. The actual hiking route is absolutely beutiful. Breathtaking views all around. The Lukomir village and lunch there is also amazing: the food is very much local, super fresh, and tasty. The lunch was probably one of the best meals of the trip as well. There is plenty of food; just make sure you don't eat too much or coming back can be quite hard. Overall, this tour is a must-see on a trip to Sarajevo.

The tour was incredible and the different landscapes were absolutely breathtaking, thanks to the different spots where Kenan, our great guide brought us. Not only, he showed to us amazing sights throughout the way to the village but he also explained to us passionately the different things to know about nature, Bosnian culture and many others things. I highly recommend him if you want to have an amazing and interesting trip to Lukomir

Which of the three hikes is the best? One way, two way or circular? (Difficulty isn't an issue for us).
Is circular the only one that goes to the peak?
