Aldo was very professional AND skilled. Had a great time getting out on the dunes with my friend. The whole crew that helped us was amazing as well, thank you to Luis and everyone else! Felt lucky to be able to go around sunset when it was not too hot as well!

This was one of the highlights of our 2.5 week trip all over Peru! I almost booked in Huacachina however it didn’t work out with our schedule and I am SO GLAD it didn’t! Not only did we have a private lesson and the gorgeous dunes of Ancon all to ourselves (which was incredible), but we ran into other travelers who said the Huacachina dunes were over crowded. This location was magical, close to Lima, and our instructor, Aldo, was fantastic. He was super patient with us, had a great sense of humor, and took so many amazing videos and photos (which was another amazing perk!). Our driver, Carlos, was also amazing and was super competent with how to navigate the dunes. Aldo has a lot of pride for his beautiful country and also does a lot for the youth in his community, which was great to hear about. An 11/10 experience all around.

Aldo, our guide/instructor, and Carlos, our driver, were very friendly and knowledgable! We were experienced snow skiiers and boarders, but were humbled by the experience on sand. Very challenging and fun! I would definitely reccommend this to folks who are looking for a unique recreational activity in the Lima area.

We had half a day with Aldo and Eddie on the dunes north of Lima. The experience was just extraordinary. Aldo taught us (a family of four with two boys 13 and 10) how to sand board. We’ve never done any snowboarding or surfing or anything like this before, Aldo was very patient and you can tell he has a lot of experience working with kids. His passion for the sport is also contagious. The dunes were beautiful, especially during the hours near sunset. And we had it all to ourselves. When our SUV drove off the road into the dunes it really felt like an adventure. In the end we could somewhat make our way down the halfpipe, a large sand structure deep in the wilderness. Our flight into Lima was delayed and so our experience was cut short. We didn’t have time lunch and had to go straight to this activity after getting off our flight. Aldo got us sandwiches so that we could have energy. We really appreciated that.

Amazing guide and incredible experience. Picked me up at the airport and there was a couple along with myself that rode in the back row of the SUV. Gave great instructions. Be prepared to fall and get slightly injured. I was going too fast when I basically ate it and rolled over. Was sore for a few days but definitely worth it.

I’m not usually one to write reviews so this says a lot. Wow, this was by far the best experience of my life (and I have been travelling all over the world for the past 2 years). As someone with skiing experience, I did the sand skiing and my friend (no previous skiing or boarding experience) did the sand boarding. Aldo and Alberto were amazing! We had the whole day dedicated to just the two of us. I was able to ski freely on the dunes, while my friend had around 3 hours of private 1-1 lesson! The off roading was also so much fun! And the best thing is, the excellent service doesn’t stop there. We also got picked up and dropped off right outside our accommodation and received excellent photos taken by Aldo. I couldn’t recommend Desert Expeditions more. Do it, you’ll remember this forever.

Loved the experience to sandboard in the desert. We were the only ones there, so it felt special. It was well organised and Rolo took the time for us. Both the driver (Alberto) and Rolo (instructor) were very friendly. Also they took a lot of photos and videos for us. Recommended off-the-beaten-track tour!

I came to Lima last on my trip, and initially, I felt like I should have put more days in Cusco. Alonso, Sebastian, and Rolando changed my mind. I had such a fantastic time. Alonso and Sebastian picked me up promptly at my hotel, where we then traveled to pick up my instructor Rolando. Everyone was super friendly and were joking and laughing the whole way to the sandboarding experience. Alonso is an excellent driver who knows the dunes well. If you have never been off roading before, do not worry. You are in good hands. Alonso is very experienced. Once out in the dunes, Rolando helped familiarize me with the equipment and assessed my experience level. He was very patient and explained everything I would need to know as a complete newbie. He very quickly had me up and practicing on some small dunes, encouraging me the whole way. By the end, he successfully had me board down a 100m dune! At all times, he made sure I was comfortable with whatever dune we were about to ride. The ride back was just as fun as the ride out, and we even went through the flavellas as a kind of bonus tour. 12/10, 100% recommend

This experience was one of a kind. Our kids had the time of their lives. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Lima. We are all skiers with NO snowboarding experience. We were given a crash course and in the end were able to go down the sand dunes on the "sandboard"!

The guide and driver were awesome. So much fun. Our first time sand skiing and Carlos and Ronaldo made it exciting and special. Two true locals with an extra cute little dog. If your are seeking fun and adventure these is the guide to book with.

Great afternoon of Sandboarding with Ronaldo. They were able to accommodate use last minute, we reached out only 2 days before the tour. They didn’t have ski boots in my size at the last minute so I boarded instead, Ronaldo was a great instructor and I was riding after a brief lesson and improved through the day. We had a good snack of fruit and water, and a prompt driver. Great day, would do again!

This was such an adventure with great guides! Our group had an absolute blast and we'll never forget it!!

Hugo (driver) and Rolando (sand boarding instructor) were both great. Land cruiser was clean, came with snacks and he had great skills out driving the dunes. Rolando took his time showing us how to sand board, kept us entertained and took great pictures of the adventures. Would recommend 5/5 stars.
