It's 4 hour drive one way early morning. Prepare some snacks, water, and fruits. Don't forget passports, jackets, and sunscreen. Dunes ride was a blast. You can rent ski or snowboard equipment at Huacachina for 50 soles and have unique downhill experience.
At Paracas, take seafood lunch on your own at one of restaurants on Malicon.

This was an amazing way to see both the Ballestas Islands and Huacachina, Peru. We originally booked this tour mainly for Huacachina, but the Ballestas Islands were a surprisingly great stop.

They pick you up from your hotel (!!) between 5:30-6:00AM. They arrived right when they said they would, were very kind, and super helpful. After a four hour drive, we arrived in Paracas, Peru. Paracas was uneventful and a little dirty, but they speed boat ride to the Islands was a blast. The guide was incredibly knowledgable and made it a great experience. After getting back on the bus, we made it to Huacachina. This was epic. The dune buggy drivers go crazy driving you up and down the dunes and around sharp corners. Sand boarding is a blast. IMPORTANT NOTE: all of the photos show people standing on boards going down the dunes or skiing down. This is not the case. You are given a board and you slide down the dune on your stomach. This is ideal. You would have to be a very advanced snow boarder or skier to go down standing up. There is an option to do this, but you have to pay more.

All of our guides were a lot of fun, the bus was very punctual, and this was a great way to see some out of the way places in Peru! Definitely recommend. Great opportunities for adventure, sunset pictures, and an exciting day.

Overall, the entire experience from booking to being returned to Lima was incredible. The Peruhop support email was punctual, always responding timing to answer my questions. The PeruHop guides personally connected with each tourist to review their itinerary in Peru and provide input on any concerns they identify.

The bus was very comfortable, with air conditioning and reclining seats allowing for our entire group to rest between portions of the trip. The local tours chosen by PeruHop were out of this world—the trip to ballestas islands via tour boat and sand buggying were fast-paced, fun, and informative.

Special shout out to PeruHop guides Christian and Alexander for going above and beyond.

This was a really fun trip! We got picked up from our hotel at around 5:30am, the bus was probably one of the most comfortable buses I’ve ever been on and not crowded either. It took a few hours to get there. We pre ordered our food for the restaurant. The boat trip was probably my least favorite part of this trip because everyone at the back of the boat got soaked. So I would advise not to sit at the back! Good food in the restaurant when we got back though. The sand boarding was the absolute BEST. We had so much fun!! Our driver was crazy and to be honest I wouldn’t recommend this if you have a weak heart because it’s terrifying! But, so much fun too! We got fed again (it wasn’t great) after the sand boarding and then back on the bus at around 20:00. Home at around midnight. It’s a long day, so I recommend that you bring maybe a change of clothes and a light jacket etc. Bring water for the journey up as you will want to stay hydrated. There is a toilet in the bus so no worries there. Wear GOOD suncream (factor 50), and bring it with you. If you have a light bandana for the sand boarding bring it!

This is a LONG day. The bus is extremely comfortable so that helped. Huacachina was absolutely stunning. The food that was our only option to eat wasn’t that great. It felt rushed between all events but we had a great time. If we had a longer trip we would have stayed overnight in Huacachina because the town was so cute and looked fun.

Paracas was cool but Huacachina was definitely the highlight. Sand boarding and careening through the desert on a dune buggy was awesome!! Wish I would’ve stayed the night in Huacachina.

Very average experience. We booked the activity and received no confirmation other than the ticket so we weren’t sure if they got it until the morning of the pick-up.

Our ticket said the hotel pick-up would be at 6am but at 5h30 they were already in the hotel lobby for us to go so obviously we had to rush.

The first stop was ok. The boat’s engine broke down which meant we were delayed for the rest of the day. The lunch place was not good at all - don’t order the seafood rice.

Then we went to Huacachina where we spent most time waiting around for the rest of the group to be ready. We were a huge group and they simply lack the organisation to have a group of this size. So, on top of being delayed already, we had to waste time waiting for everyone to show up to start the tour which would mean a shorter activity. At one point, the activities providers had to actually rush them otherwise we would have just stayed and wasted more sun light. My advice, book the activities separately so you can start them independently. However, please book them with their partners in Huacachina because the buggy riding and the sand boarding were just amazing. We loved our driver - it was so fun! Really the highlight of the day.

We then had dinner at the lodge they suggested and went back. My boyfriend had a really bad stomach bug from something we ate (not sure from which of the places they took us). We beg them to stop at a restaurant on the way and they insisted it had to be a gas station so he had to wait in pain until we got to a gas station. They were not concerned at all. The only thing they were concern about was “not to go number two in the bus bathroom” which they said repeatedly during the drive.

All in all, I wouldn’t use them again. My review is average instead of poor because of the great activity provider we had in Huacachina which really saved the day with some fun!

Other than that, not great.

The island trip was cool but mostly did it to see the penguins and there was maybe 5 and the rest of the island was entirely birds and sea lions. After the island they took us to a restaurant for lunch where the food was not very good at all. We barely ate any of our meals. Luckily there’s some markets we were able to get snacks. The dune buggy’s was a blast and the sand boarding was so much fun! The only cons for this trip was the driving time was a lot! It’s about 4 hours to the island, 2 hours to the sand dunes and then another 5 hours back to Lima. Our guide wasn’t the greatest at explaining where to go and where to meet after. We really wanted to upgrade to do the standing sand boarding so using snowboards but we couldn’t because we didn’t know where to go and by the time we figured it out they didn’t have any boards left. I would say overall cool experience but maybe use a different tour company to get an even better one.
