Our tour here was so much fun! While in some ways, this tour isn't a tour specific to Lima and could be done in some other city, our guide actually did go through the history of cacao in Peru specifically, which was very informative. We were walked through the process of making chocolate as well as many chocolate products such as hot chocolate and chocolate tea from cacao bean shells. Additionally we got to taste all of these products as well. We also got to take home our chocolates. It was nice to take a break from walking tours and do something hands on! I would recommend this tour.

It was lots of fun. We had one day left in Lima and decided to come here based on a recommendation by our hotel. The most delicious activity after our entire Peru trip, because it was relaxed and we did not have to get up early.
The group was small and there was plenty of chocolate for everyone.
I would not pinpoint it as a must do in case you have not much time available, but in case you have one day free, go for it ;)

It was a very reasonably-priced, interesting experience to learn about cacao, and the process of making drinks and molding chocolates out of the beans. The pace could have been faster, and the comfort could have been enhanced by providing sitting stools by the counter. (We stood on our feet for the entire two hours, when stools could have easily been provided.) If there was a museum, it was not made apparent to us. This was essentially a cacao shop/restaurant with indoor and outdoor tables, and a counter in the corner where the workshop was conducted. (It is in a great location in Miraflores, across from Kennedy Park.)

We landed in Peru this morning and wanted something to do to start getting oriented. We saw this workshop and it sounded perfect for us. I booked directly through their website after we landed. Our instructor was Raul. He was super knowledgeable, explained the origin of chocolate, then we got to sample beans, roast them, crush into nibs, and make a chocolate paste. We then used the paste to make different types of hot chocolate. We then made our own candy with a nice selection of toppings, which we retrieved after about 15 minutes. Christopher & Karina, who also work there, were very helpful and greeted us when we first arrived and again when we came to pick our chocolate up. I definitely recommend this workshop! It was educational, fun, and delicious.

My husband and I had a delightful experience with our "teacher" Karina. She was charming and informative. It was a quiet afternoon with just the 2 of us so we had lots of opportunity to participate. I appreciated the fact that we truly got to choose the beans, roast them, crush then and taste. Making our own chocolate bars at the end was fun with all of the toppings. We would recommend this experience. Not only did we get to learn lots about chocolate but had some time with someone from the area who shared many insights of life in Lima.

My husband and I had a ball making delicious chocolates to take back to the hotel with us (husband topped his with red pepper, half of mine was topped with ginger and the other half with sea salt). In addition to the yummy-ness, we enjoyed learning about the evolution of chocolate from drink to confection. If you’re lucky, Manuelo will lead the session. A wonderful couple of hours!

The guide was perfectly skilled and committed to his work. Very positively!
However, it turned out to be a lot of explanation, where We could have wished for a little more practical work with the chocolate in the meantime

Interesting to learn about but lots of opportunities to improve in all aspects. Liked the guide but geared more towards kids. Overall the experience was good.

Awww, sorry about that. We got caught in changing teachers suddenly, and the new ones were still in their learning curve :/ I know even my answer reflects a level way under our standards... But yeah, we've been struggling with all kinds of problems in the aftermath of the pandemic. All in all, we're getting back there, to our vision of top, fun and knowledgeable experiences. I hope we'll have another opportunity to show you our improvements, anytime you're back in town!
