Unforgettable memories of the wildest Peru
I'm a Chinese who worked at Lima in the past eight years. Ultimately, I will have to say goodbye to this beloved country. Before leaving, the Peruvian Amazon jungle is the last item on my wish list. Mr Orlando Cueva and his company kindly helped my trip come true. Actually several days before the departure, we had some problems which led to the tour somehow uncertain. With great dedication and efforts, finally he made this extraordinary expedition happened. In this 8d/7n Pacaya Samiria tour, I had unique and exclusive experience. I saw at least 3 kinds of monkeys, both kinds of dolphins, giant python, 3-toes sloths, river otters, caimans and many different species of birds. The most unbelievable scenes were thousands of Great Egrets and American Cormorants flying in front of our boats in the whole days of the 3rd and 4th day of our trip. In the end, I would like to appreciate the expertise of my guide "Lobo" and the boat man also chef Ricardo who made camps, open paths in the jungle captured fishes from rivers and lakes.

          Living with Locals
Amazing experience! Living with families who were born in the national park. A real local experience, far away from a random tourism tour. I had the most special experience in my life. Bathing in the river, fishing Piranhas. Camping close to Aligators. Nightwalks in the Jungle. Local food. 4 days in spanish and even for me with a spanish Level A2 it was possible to understand a lot. Everything was just amazing.

          Biggest Ripoff Ever
This guy overcharges and is not trustworthy. I booked “my amazon lodge” through him and got charged 250 soles. Everyone else that went through a different agency paid less than 200. I got swindled into booking for 7 days. I told him I didn’t have that much money and would need to go to the bank, he literally walked me to the bank I guess to make sure I would come back, but it made me feel uncomfortable and pressured. When we got there it was nothing like he said, it wasn’t nice and there wasn’t anything to do, we wanted to come back the next day but our guide guilted us into staying until the next day. When I came back he refused to give me my money back for the days that I didn’t spend there. There was no way they used any of our money on us because everything was so cheap. The food was rice, beans, and chicken, you can get that anywhere for less than 10 soles so I don’t see why I couldn’t get my money back. I spent 4,400 soles for two people for 7 days, and I only spent 3 days there so really he owes me 2,430, not taking away the extra 300 I got charged while most people paid less than 200s/ day. That’s like $740 dollars that I should be getting back. Even though I deserve to have it all back because it was not what I was made to believe I was paying for. If you want to go to one of these lodges, definitely book with someone else because this guy is not trustworthy! The one I stayed at was “my amazon lodge” but I recommend only trying it for one day first and if you like it you can stay longer, they are not organized at all. But don’t give them your money in advance because you might not get it back. I showed up afterwards at his amazon ventures location and after arguing for a while I only got 400 soles back which is nothing compared to what I paid.

          Amazing jungle tour
Last year we (four friends) did a four day tour inside the Amazone reserve park with our two guides Carlos and Estéban and it was amazing. We did a lot of research before choosing this operator and we were very happy with our choice. The tour was very well arranged for a good price. But our two tour guides were the best we could ever wish for. We saw so many animals, and it was really cool to see how well they knew the environment. They did their very best to make sure we enjoyed every moment of it. Also it should be mentioned that they were good cooks. Make sure to pack long clothes though as the mosquitoes will not leave you alone. Thanks again Carlos and Estéban!

          Good trip but
I did the 5 days / 4 nights Pacaria Samiria. Like a lot of people, i was told I would get an English spoken guide but only had it after 2,5 days of my trip. The Spanish guide was very sweet, trying to make himself understand but ... I asked for an English guide. Orlando told me he would be there but never saw him again. There a lot of companies which offer the jungle trips but they all send the people to the same places, to do the same visits etc... which is fine but please be honest about it. I was also very upset when I learned how much people paid for that trip and what I paid. Of course I didn’t negotiate as I booked in advance but I paid double the price (sometimes even more) for the exact same thing. That remains a bummer even if the trip itself is amazing and I got to see so many wild animals. I went camping in the jungle, an experience I will never forget. Thank you very much to Ever and Rickie.

Fantastic one day tour of the Amazon
Booked the one day river tour with Jungle Explorers. Orlando was our guide for the day and took us to preserves to see and interact with Amazonian wildlife. Holding and playing with monkeys was definitely a highlight. After lunch we visited a local tribe and we were able to participate in their dances. Amazingly beautiful day and great commentary from Orlando - we learned a great deal about the area. The tour was in Spanish [as I need more practice] and Orlando was very patient whenever I needed clarification. Junge Explorers also does tours in English.

Wonderful day on the river and seeing wildlife
We took a private, one day river tour with Orlando stopping at several animal preserves and visited an indigenous tribe. The entire day was beautiful, relaxing and educational. The locations Orlando chose to experience the wildlife were well presented and did not feel touristy at all. The ability to interact with the animals, including feeding piranhas and paiche and holding monkeys and sloths was really special. Even just cruising down the Amazon River is magical. The place he chose for lunch floats on the river and had a wide selection of delicious food. Orlando was an excellent guide, sharing his knowledge of the animals and the region. By the way, we took the tour in Spanish but they offer it in English also.

Take care, they are not honest people
We booked 4 days 3 nights tour to pacaya samiria. They told us that we will have our own guide, we'll sleep on a house and the tour will be flexible according to our prefferences. But actually, they just joined us to a group of other company and the tour was almost the opposite from what they told us: we were 2 nights camping and the schedule was strict. Orlando's Expedition didn't tell us the truth about the trip's details and didn't take responsibility for the mistake they have done. Be aware that this could happen with them and make sure that they don't make fool of you. Anyway, pacaya samiria is beautiful and it is recommended to go there (but maybe with other company).

          Very nice experience
We were two guys who did a 5 d and 4 n tour. Both the guide and the local guide were very nice and helpful people and especially the local guide new the jungle very well. The food was okay but nothing special. Very thin madrasses for the nights in tent which was not so comfortable but necessary to get deeper into the jungle. Overall a nice experience!

Brilliant 3 nights 2 days trip to Pacaya Samaria reserve
My wife and I had an amazing time on this trip and I cannot recommend it enough. During the three days we swam in the river, went out on multiple walks and boat rides and saw lots of different wildlife (including dolphins, monkeys, snakes, birds, spiders to name a few). Our local guide (Robert) was constantly pointing out animals that our untrained eyes couldn't see and a couple of times was able to imitate the animals' call so we could observe them from a bit closer. He knew so much about the wildlife and we loved hearing some of the stories he told us about the jungle and the local area. We opted to spend the second night in a tent slightly deeper in the jungle, which was a great experience. We fell asleep to the sounds of the jungle at night and were woken up to the sound of a group of howler monkeys :). We probably would have extended the stay another night or two (Orlando told us this is possible to do if you are enjoying it) but unfortunately we had already booked our flights away. English speaking guides are available but speaking a bit of Spanish will definitely help.

Didn't stick with a schedule, transferred us to another agency, guide had poor english
We got told that we where transferred into another agency, called golden snake as Orlando could not find us a guide and there was miscommunication between them, so we didn't do half of the things that we payed for, for example Lily pads, monkey island etc. Our guide was friendly but bit lazy, he didn't speak much english and didn't want to make much effort either, as my friend spoke Spanish he asked her to translate for me, which was really annoying for me and for my friend, as she constantly had to translate. Also we didn't do the nocturnal walk since we didn't have flashlights and we where not able to purchase them in a lodge, and our guide had NO flashligh!! Food was really bad too, not much options, and I'm a vegetarian, which they said they cater for, but on a first dinner I was given chicken, and even after telling them, they didn't replace my plate! I would not recommend this agency! I think you can do better.

Really amazing experience, possibly the best way to visit the jungle, everything was organised perfectly to ensure that you truly live the magic of the jungle from the booking in Iquitos to the transfers by car, the boat trip, the accomodation and the food. The guides are very knowledgeable, you are guranteed to see dolphins, parrots and possible sloths and monkes. I con only recommend this tour and this agent, you will not be disappointed.

The 4 day adventure in the jungle was amazing! We had three guides Lander, Justo and Marcelo who were great/ Justo is a local and lives in the village Buenos Aires inside the reserve, so on the way back we visited his house and had lunch there. Really enjoyed all the activities in the jungle and sleeping in the tents. Thank you!

This tour covered four days, and you arrive by boat to Orlando's Jungle Lodge. The place is very rustic, you need to use good insect spray, and definitely follow their packing list. You set out from this lodge for your expeditions. We did day and night hikes in the forest to see monkeys, frogs, birds, tarantulas, and bullet ants. The highlights were seeing pink dolphins surfacing and being able to just sit in the boat and watch them. They are too quick and unpredictable to get a photo, I recommend you use video. Second highlight was fishing for piranha, then heading back under darkness on the river to spot caymans, and almost getting caught in a violent thunderstorm. This is a tour for those who don't mind heat, rain, mosquitos, and rustic (~ camping) facilities. If your idea of sleeping under the stars is a 4 or 5 star hotel, this might not be for you. We really enjoyed the tour, were fully ensconced in the Amazonian Forest, and well-catered to by our experienced Guide. High marks.

Very grateful,to you for coming to tour with us and for taking the time to give us your comment. It is true within the national reserve there is no luxury amenities as in the lodges near the city of Iquitos, only rustic camps and for camping and search for different types of animals And carry out the activities that tourists want to,if you really this tour is to see animals in their natural abitat, there are no lodges with amenities that is a environmentally protected area

I was on a 4D/3N tour in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve with a group of friends where my expectations were exceeded, thanks to the service and treatment of the collaborators of the Jungle Explorer agency, I hope to have another opportunity to return to these places.
I had the opportunity to meet insects, primates and my favorite mammal “Delfin Rosado”.

        HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Full incursion into the Reservation staying with local people in the area in camps and tents. We took jungle hikes and boat trips where we could observe many animals: dolphins, sloth bears, alligators, piranhas, multitudes of birds, etc. Unique and highly recommended experience.
