Deluxe tour to Sacsayhuaman, San Blas, La Merced Church, Cathedral & Coricancha

By LimaTours
About
You will start the tour of Sacsayhuamán, one of the emblematic buildings of the Incas (declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO) erected in the fifteenth century. It is an immense fortress built with large stones whose transfer and carving is still a mystery. Return to the city and visit the neighbourhood of San Blas, originally inhabited by the Inca nobility. Today it is a conglomerate of beautiful cobbled streets and popular among artisans. Then, visit the Cathedral located in the Main Square. Its construction began in 1560. Thousands of stones were extracted and transported from the Sacsayhuaman fortress. Then, visit the hurch of La Merced, a masterpiece of modern baroque style. Marvel at its beautiful interior courtyard, carved wooden ceilings and imposing altars. Finally yo will visit Coricancha, also known as ´The Temple of the Sun´ (QuriKancha; golden temple). Upon the arrival of the Spanish, it became the basis for the construction of the Santo Domingo Convent.

A good insight into Cusco and the Surrounding area.
The trip was varied as it visited local archaeological sites as well as buildings within Cusco itself. The guide was informative and took time to explain the history and local customs. The driver was very polite. We also visited a local craft centre and were able to feed Llamas and Alpacas - it was nice to see these roaming around the grounds rather that enclosed in pens.

Great way to see the key sites of Cusco
Excellent tour. Our guide Freddy was excellent. He told us enough about the sites we visited without so much detail that we were overwhelmed with information. The Inca sites are a must whilst in Cusco. The cathedral doesn’t look much from the outside but is a big wow inside. Great trip

          Not the right guide.
The guide didn't try to make it interesting. He was boring, slow, and didn't organize the timetable properly. We missed almost all the places worthwhile seeing in Cusco city center. He was more eager to take us to a shopping center not planned in the visit than to explain the nice buildings in Cusco to us. Very disappointing.

          Interesting but Too Long
It was a very long tour. It took over 5 hours to visit all the sites. Our guide was knowledgeable but clueless about the lack of interest of our group on his detailed explanations at the cathedral which was our last stop. He also was kind of repetitive in our previous stops. For me this tour would have been much better if the cathedral would not have been included and just cover the Inka fortifications and temples. The temples themselves were amazing to visit. Really great views

          Surreal experience near ollantaytambo
We came here after a visit to the archeological site at Ollantaytambo. It was fixed by our tour company. We had nice lunch with excellent folk music. We didn’t expect it would be so nice experience. The musicians were delivering the authentic music from the high valley and possibly Inka culture. Overall it was a nice experience at Ollantaytambo.

          Inka Grill is just superb
My husband and I toured Peru for my 40th birthday in Sep 2019. We were starved after a full day tour so decided to grab a quick bite at the Inka Grill restaurant in the Cusco Main Square. One of the beef dishes caught my eye so I decided to give it a whirl and oh my word was I impressed :) The 'Lomo Saltado' is a combination of beef stir fry with vegetables, white rice and chips; coming from South Africa where the braai/barbequeing of red meat is akin to a national pastime, the beef was the most perfectly cooked I have tasted even till today. Everything on the plate was well flavoured, the gravy was divine. It was so good that we went there a second time and I ordered the same meal, another gentleman on our tour ordered the same and was just as impressed. Inka Grill, keep being superb!

          Real authentic Peruvian food
I really enjoyed my lunch here. The owner warned me beforehand: no pizza here. And that was not what I was there for-I was after real Peruvian food, which was exactly what I got. I got the best food ever, an entre (soup) and a delicious chichen stew. All made with really fresh ingredients, no canned food or food additives. I liked that they offered two sauces, so I could adjust the flavor to my liking. Plus a coffee to cure my tiredness and a very tasty lemonade. The restaurant itself had a great ambiance, decorated with local products, it was a place you could relax and fully enjoy your meal. I went by myself, and had a great time, did not feel weird. I enjoyed how swift the food was served; no extra waiting. The waitress was nice and really attentive. I enjoyed the food so much that I got soup as take away for supper this day and the next. Their take away service was also great.

          Great last meal in Cusco
We tried the Guinea pig. It was well prepared, not shaped like a Guinea pig like other restaurants, so if you want that, get something else(everything we had was fantastic) . Great service! Shout out to Hebert!

          Love my Chocolate!
Lots of fun...learned a ton about chocolate making!!! Our instructor Gabriel was fantastic, good English and great humor. We were a party of 18 and he managed to keep all of us engaged and working hard to make our own chocolate! If you have time, a free afternoon or morning...recommend this one! Chocolate tasted more bitter than we are use to but it was pure...no artificial sweeteners or additives!

          Classic Inka Trail 👣 👌 4days, 3nights hike
Me and my brother did classic Inka Trail 4 days 3 nights hike with Lima Tours this April 2022. From the moment we arrived in Cusco to the day we were transported back to Cusco I could have not asked for a better service. Everything was planned ahead and taken care off before we even had to ask. I would recommend this company for anyone who is planning similar trip. The best experience of my life and made it possible by our wonderful quide Roger, who was there every step of the way for us. When I was struggling to go over the Dead Women Pass because of the altitude he went as far as giving me his walking sticks and having porter carry my backpack. I was extremely grateful and happy that I made it over the pass and was able to finish my hike to Machu Pichu. Roger was a wonderful quide to learn about history and flora and fauna of the whole region. Another round of applause goes to out wonderful chef Rolando for all the 3 course lunches, tea time, and yammy dinners. And last but not least big thank you to our porters who made our trip a breeze.
