About
The Ausangate Trek is best suited for the more experienced traveler since it is the highest and toughest trek in the region. It is much more remote so there will be few, if any, other travelers on this path. Although the trek is tough, the views are worth it. You will have the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful scenery throughout this journey. The trek loops around the Ausangate mountain, the holy mountain, which has been a place of worship since pre-Inca times. The Incas believed that mountains were the connection to a higher realm and were known as Apu (mountain spirits). On clear nights, you will see how the Milky Way (Wilkamayu) lights the sky and creates a direct path to Ausangate. This trek is well worth the journey.

Incredible experience
Oct. 2019 • Friends
The views are amazing, the services are fantastic, and the crew works its hardest to make everything go as smoothly as possible. I had a great experience with runnatrip and would definitely try out their other treks.

Wonderful Experience!
Aug. 2019 • Couples
This is one of the best trips I’ve ever have! The views are amazing and unique on every second throughout the trip. Cook was doing his best on every meal to fulfill our empty stomaches after each section with delicious local food (the menu almost never repeats in six days). The guide knows all the good looking places and controls the pace very well. Very thoughtful details everywhere. The difficulty is moderate as the website describes.

Overall highly recommend!

Breathtaking!! (views and altitude)
Jun. 2019 • Friends
This was a spectacular route with stunning views of glaciers, mineral striped mountains, sapphire blue lakes, and llama dotted valleys. It is a challenging route with several steep passes and freezing nighttime temperatures. Anyone considering this trek should have very good physical fitness and endurance. Any discomfort is well worth this trek of a lifetime!

I highly recommend Runnatrip. Pablo was very responsive and easy to work with in the planning phase of our trip. He went above and beyond to help us with hotel reservations and side excursions in addition to the trek itself. The trek was well planned and organized; every detail accounted for regarding safety, and comfort. Pablo aims to provide the best experience possible (even providing hot water bottles for cold sleeping bags!). Our guide was friendly, experienced, and knowledgeable about the environment and Peruvian culture. He set a great tone for blending trekkers and staff. Three warm meals a day were prepared by our personal chef and crew. All meals were prepared fresh with locally sourced produce. Everything was amazing! Lastly, the horsemen were friendly and efficient. They took great care in setting up, transporting and taking down camp each day. I absolutely would book another trek with Runnatrip!

Book a trek with Runnatrip!
Jun. 2019 • Solo
I had a wonderful time with Pablo's company. The entire trip was very well organized and I felt the service he and his team offered was one of the very best I have experienced. There was plenty of food, comfortable tents, warm water bladders to keep people warm at nights, flexibilty on the schedule and I felt very safe with his arrangements. The Ausangate trek was very stunning! I highly recommend Pablo and his company, Runnatrip!

The views are out of this world
Jun. 2019 • Solo
This is one of the best treks I’ve done in my life. The views are out of this world, blue lakes, pink lakes, colorful mountains, and the whole landscape is amazing. Local people are very friendly and you get the chance to see wild vicunas. Runnatrip helped organize everything flawlessly. The food prepared was delicious (buffet every night!), the equipment is top notch, and the whole staff was very attentive to every detail. Totally worth it.

Caring company
Jun. 2019 • Friends
This trek is one of the best treks in the world. You will see amazing scenery including alpacas, llamas, vicunas, viscacha, lakes, glaciers, towering peaks, Andean geese and much much more.

Pablo and the company were very caring towards us. They are a new company and very willing to do what it takes to make your experience wonderful. On your part be prepared for a very challenging trek and for all conditions including cold, wind and rain.

If you are adventurous and ready for a challenging but beautiful trek, DO IT. You won't regret it.

Memorable Ausangate Trek Experience!
Nov. 2018 • Solo
I did the ausangate trek last november. This hike has one of the best landscapes I’ve seen in my life and it wasn't at all crowded. We were only 4 in the group and everyone traveled solo but we got along pretty well, which made the adventure even better.

Runnatrip made sure everything went well. They had clear communication with me before the hike and kept me informed of everything. They were very attentive to details and went out of their way to accommodate me. The guide, Bruno, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area, making sure we arrived before it started to rain. Juan and all the horsemen were some of the nicest people I met. The food was great, I was surprised at how well they cooked up there in the mountains. Everyday around 2 PM the weather got pretty bad (with heavy rain, wind and snowfall), however, the tents were sturdy and kept us comfortable.

I absolutely recommend the service that Runnatrip provides and I am convincing my friends to go to Peru and take the treks that this company offers.

Incredible trip with an amazing group of people
Sep. 2018 • Friends
I booked a 6 night trek hiking through the ausangate trail with Runnatrip. I'm an avid hiker and have summited mountains in New Zeland, Iceland, Rocky Mountains, Switzerland, so I was extremely excited for my first trip to South America. I've never booked a trip through a company before, as I have done all my hiking solo up until my trip to Peru. Runnatrip provided one of the best experiences I could have hoped for - small group, expert guides, great food, great people etc...

In short, this was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had and without a doubt would recommend booking your next trip with Runnatrip if you're looking for an authentic experience through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.

Excellent service and an awesome trek!
May 2018 • Friends
We did the 5 day Ausangate + Rainbow mountain trek with Runnatrip. We had great email communication with Pablo (the owner) prior to the trip and we had a very good understanding of what to expect from the trek (difficulty, altitude sickness, weather, etc). Our cooks were able to set up camp before we got there and have snacks prepared, and the meals were great considering how remote we were. Our guide, Bruno, spoke very fluent English and was very knowledgeable in the local culture and way of life. In the end we actually managed to cover 6-7 days worth of trekking in about 4 and half days. Overall I had an excellent time and would totally recommend going with Runnatrip for their great services.
