BAD TOUR - CANCELLED LAST MINUTE
Horrible experience. On Christmas Eve, with less than 24 hour notice, the tour company cancelled the trip. (I booked through Viator, a subsidiary of Tripadvisor, who mandates consumers can only cancel with more than 24 hour notice.) Luckily, I was able to go with another tour company. When contacted, the original tour company claimed it was cancelled due to weather. However, when I went to Rainbow Mountain, there was no issues with weather. I talked to other tour guides from other services and they said there was no issue with weather. Additionally, the other tour services speculated this service suddenly had their guides absent due to Christmas and just blamed weather. I would not trust this company ever and would recommend to go with other services to Rainbow Mountain.

Photoshop at its most extreme......Totally underwhelming mass tourist trap full of Instagram posers. 7 hours on a cramped minibus only to be taken for an idiot

It’s worth doing it for the experience!
We had a very rare experience since it snowed on the day we went. It was still fun but it was cold! We didn’t see the different colors of Rainbow Mtn but it’s unique to have pictures of the snow covered terrain. Ours guides Luis and Alfredo were super nice!! The breakfast buffet was okay but lunch was great! The hike is not that hard as long as you pace yourself.

Did Rainbow mountain and Red valley hike with Alpaca tours, although hike was grueling due to Altitude our guide Luc was great she encouraged all the way and kept pace slow to match ours. Meals were great, Wonderful experience. Thanks Luc.

          Rainbow Mountains - Honest Review
Had a great day out in the Rainbow Mountains organized by Machu Pich Reservations. Even though it is not a long trek up to the top, being over 5000m high you will feel the effects of the lack of oxygen. As long as you take it nice and easy, drink plenty of water you will do it, you don’t even need trekking boots, just a decent pair of trainers will do At the top the weather can change suddenly as we found out, wind, then scattered shower followed by hailstones so make sure you have a warm fleece and waterproof jacket with you at all times. If you think you are going to struggle or have just come into Cusco and not had a chance to aclimatise then recommend that you let your guide get you a horse to take you up three quarters of the way, that way you still get to experience walking the last bit whilst safeguarding your health. Reason why I am saying is that because in our group, one couple were rushed to hospital in an ambulance due to the altitude and then whilst on the way down a young girl collapsed in the back of our van and we had to get her out and giver her oxygen, thanks Shep. Machu Pichu Reservations can you make sure that you remove used oxygen bottles as the first one we used was empty, second one nearly empty, luckly the third one was full.

Took a tour with this company after reading other recommendations here, and do not regret it. We heard horror stories about other tour operators and feared the worst, but thankfully wasn't the case with this company. Both breakfast and lunch options were ample and delicious (though I'd be careful with eating too much for breakfast given the altitude and hike to follow). Both the driver and Anibal knew what they were doing and ensured we were taken care of at all times. I myself couldn't do the hike myself after messing up my knee in Macchu Picchu days before, and Anibal helped me secure a horseback ride to and from the mountain. (Side note--that was a great option if you can't do the full hike. They drop you off sufficiently far enough for you to brave the altitude and part of the hike so it's not "cheating".) We also got to the mountain early enough to beat crowds, which is helpful. Would definitely trust this experience with them again.

Amazing tour and it was not as busy in the off season! Many bathroom stops along the way (cost 2 soles each time to use - but you get toilet paper and running water!) Tour guides are good at making sure group is okay

I am not sure if this was the same tour I took from Lllas Inn where I was stayed. Absolutely fantasitc tour, they will pick you up at the hotel provide a blanket and two meals. Okay I speak very little spanish but the main guide Christian ( I hope the name is right:):) He specially translated for me in English and always helped me especially I was almost given up few times :):) He gave me an encouragement to go on so I did. I made many friends even I could not make communicates but with heart!! It's a beautiful thing. Thank you Christian Thank you Monica Thank you to all!!

Great trip. Well organised and great guide. Transport on time. The walk was quite easy but would recommend wearing sensible shoes or not trainers/ flip flops.

Rainbow Mountain - Worth the hike!
Rainbow Mountain is a must see in Peru! Never experienced anything like it. The hike is not for the faint of heart, but the views at the top were breathtaking and so worth the trek up! Anibal was an excellent tour guide and made the trip that much better! Highly recommend!

Holger was just amazing - packing a huge amount of information and sites around Cusco in an afternoon! It was my last day in Cusco and I had spent the entire 10 days doing everything OUTSIDE of Cusco that I hadn't had a chance to visit thr city itself and her immediate surroundings. Holger and his driver personally took me all over and provided amazing depth & detail at each site. The cathedral, unfortunately, was closed that Sunday so we couldn't get in. But it was nice to be able to walk in at other sites without delay. Very intelligent young gentleman! Unfortunately, I was solo so had to pay the double-occupancy rate/minimum but it was still all very much worth it to me! I do highly recommend a day with him! Holger even helped me with the vendors who trail & 'accost' you on the street (e.g. inside tips on if the prices / quality of their wares are good). Thank you Holger! :)

When you've seen one pile of rocks you've seen them all. However, when you have a great guide, like I did, it brings it all to life. Holger was lively and informative about the sites. We unexpectedly encountered a hail storm but Holger soldiered on and when one place I wanted to see in lieu of the Catherdal ,which I'd already seen, was closed, Holger was quick on his feet and showed me some hidden gems of art. Highly recommended!

We had a great time exploring Cusco on this tour. Somehow our booking date got messed up and we had booked on the wrong day. I contacted the company about this not realizing until the time the tour was supposed to start and they managed to arrange for us to do the tour one hour later! We were so pleased to not miss this in our itinerary. Our guide, Patricia, was knowledgeable, kind and enjoyable. She worked hard to ensure we still got all of the elements of the tour that we were interested in despite us starting late and losing an hour. If you want to learn more about Incan culture in Cusco, I highly recommend.

This was an amazing trip. Our guide, Holgar, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the local history. I tried to stump him on some hard questions and he always had a great answer. His assistant, Brian was very helpful with buying entrance tickets. Both were very attentive to all of our needs and questions. The transportation was perfect - van large enough to hold 8+ people. Trip included a snack and waters for everyone. Would highly recommend this tour and company!

Great tour with a fantastic guide. Our private guide Patricia was one of the best I ever had. Very patient and knowledgeable. She arrived at the hotel 15 minutes early and took her time to explain and take us around each sight. They also had a little snack package for us in the car with drinks. Really great and attentive. Highly recommended.

This tour was a wonderful way to begin our first full day in Cusco. Our guide, Gabriela, was extensively informative. She promptly met us at our hotel at 8 am, and our driver took us to our first site, Tambomachay. We made our way through each of the ruins above the city-- Puca Pucara, Q'enqo and Sacsayhuaman. We stopped at a textile & jewelry site upon our request, and we were given a tour of how the textiles were created and the jewelry forged (as well as did some shopping). We then headed back to the city and toured both the cathedral and Qoricancha. Upon finishing the tour, we asked Gabriela to point us in the direction San Blas and the twelve-sided stone, and she gave us a wonderful recommendation for lunch (across from the San Blas temple) as a bonus. We highly recommend the tour.
