- mexicoxmas0 contributionsUnforgettable Journey to the Sacred Valley.4-Day Machu Picchu , Sacred Valley and Cusco-Private Guided Tour Cusco 989504434 An Unforgettable Journey with Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys I usually write reviews right after a tour, but Valentin’s Pachamama Journey left such a profound impact that I needed time to truly absorb all we experienced. To begin with, Valentin is, without a doubt, the best guide we’ve ever had—and we’ve traveled extensively across many continents. His deep knowledge of his culture and heritage is unmatched, but what truly sets him apart is his warmth and authenticity. He and his family embody the future of Peru in the most inspiring way. The highlight of our trip was visiting Valentin’s family farm—a terraced piece of history they’ve cultivated for centuries using traditional methods perfectly adapted to their land. The visit felt like stepping back in time yet remained vibrantly connected to the present. Valentin welcomed us into his family home, where we enjoyed an incredible educational experience followed by the most memorable farm-to-table lunch. Prepared using a traditional earth oven, the meal—cooked beneath layers of herbs, tarps, and soil—was as captivating to watch as it was delicious. It was, hands down, the best meal of our trip. Valentin’s impact goes far beyond tourism. His family started a free nursery school for the village children, offering them not only education and nourishment but also a safe, loving environment to thrive. Unfortunately, the kids were out for summer break but he usually brings his groups to meet the children, and share in their dreams of exploring the world—a truly heartwarming experience. About the Trip Valentin is extraordinarily organized, and his meticulous planning ensured we avoided the crowds at every major site. He’d point out crowded locations we’d visit the following day, and sure enough, his timing always allowed us to enjoy these spots peacefully. This level of detail speaks volumes about his expertise and thoughtfulness. Every accommodation he arranged exceeded expectations. Even my husband, who is notoriously picky, was impressed. My personal favorite was a night in Ollantaytambo, where I had the most restful sleep of my life. Each stay was perfectly located for easy exploration and dining. Speaking of dining, every restaurant Valentin took us to—or recommended—was phenomenal. We never had a bad meal in Peru, which is no small feat! His culinary suggestions were a true highlight of our trip. Lastly, I must mention his exceptional driver, Kenny, who is also his son. Kenny is hands-down the safest driver I’ve ever encountered, even on Peru’s narrow, steep, and winding roads. Together, Valentin and Kenny are a dynamic duo that made us feel completely at ease throughout our journey. If you’re considering visiting Peru, do yourself a favor and book with Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys. This experience will stay with you forever.Written 17 January 2025
- daleyb20250 contributionsHighly Recommend Valentin's Pachamama Journeys!Valentin and his team were excellent to work with from start to finish. I was having trouble hearing back from other companies when planning my family's trip to Peru, but Valentin's company was different. I visited their website and reached out to the team with some questions after I read all the great reviews on TripAdvisor. Lydia responded quickly and could answer all my questions and provide guidance on how to best plan my family's itinerary. Response times were always prompt and helpful. We did the Lake Humantay, Rainbow Mountain, and Sacred Valley with Gourmet Lunch tours. Each of them was phenomenal. Time after time, everything was taken care of for us. Valentin was flexible and able to adjust to what we needed, such as picking us up from our hotel in the Sacred Valley and dropping us off at our new hotel in Cusco after we had hiked Rainbow Mountain. Spending so much time with Valentin, Kenny, and Roger was so wonderful. We learned so much on our tours not only about the sites we were seeing, but also what life is like living in Peru. The Private Ollantaytambo, Pisac Ruins Tour with Farm Visit and Gourmet Picnic Lunch tour is a must-do. Valentin is so knowledgeable on the area and you can tell he is proud of where he comes from, and rightfully so. The food prepared by Roger was phenomenal. Everything tasted so fresh, and you could tell how much time and attention went into preparing the food. The view over the local farm was also gorgeous. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I would not have booked through them without the reviews I saw that expressed the same opinion. Our trip would have been wildly different if we had gone with a different company, and I am so glad we went with Valentin's Pachamama Journeys.Written 5 January 2025
- IWISHIWASONAPLANE0 contributionsWonderful tour company, with great attention to detailWe were fortunate to use Valentin for our five day tour of Cusco, Sacred Valley, One Day Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. Carlos, our guide during the entire stay was knowlegable and fun to be with. He also helped significantly with out one day trek on the Inca Trail. From the moment we arrived in Cusco, tour return to the airport was handled seemlessly. The hotel accommodations and all the transfers were without issues. Each activity, from the city tour in Cusco, the Potato Park, cooking class and the ruins themselves were expertly handled. I would not hesitate to work with them again.Written 19 November 2024
- idbinnyc0 contributionsSo worth itMy wife and I had a really amazing time on our tour. From the moment we arrived at the Cusco airport to the point where we were dropped off everything was arranged for us. Tours of Machu Picchu and the Secret Valley were super cool. One of the things I really liked was Valentin’s ability to roll with our requests. We were able to do the things we wanted, miss the things we didn’t want to see and make some of our own arrangements which they worked around. If you’re looking for a private tour of Cusco, the sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu I recommend them wholeheartedly.Written 9 November 2024
- PinkiShah0 contributionsKnowledgeable and Friendly TeamValentine was recommended by a friend and we were NOT disappointed. Valentine was very responsive pre trip as well as during and Fernando (our English speaking tour guide) was full of knowledge and history. My husband loves history and had million questions but they were all answered. Valentine and his team took care of all of our transports, hotel arrangements, tickets, everything was very smooth. We ended up switching items in itinerary at the last minute (evening prior) and Valentine was very kind to accommodate the changes. I have already recommended him to some of my friends and would highly recommend for your next Peru trip also.Written 4 November 2024
- micheleaE3157YV0 contributions2-Day Inca Trail & Machu Picchu ExcursionMy friends and I opted for the 2-day Inca Trail excursion with Valentin and it was the best decision we made during our trip to Peru! This was a 5 star experience from start to finish. The trip commenced by being picked up at our hotel in Urumbamba and taking the train from Ollantaytambo to KM104. The 6 mile hike from KM104 to Inti Punku, stopping at the Urumbamba ruins and Wiñay Wayna, was an unforgettable experience. The views of Machu Picchu from that vantage point were just incredible. Valentin and another guide pre-prepared and carried lunches for us consisting of chicken, roasted vegetables, vegetable pasta, cake, granola bar and bottled water. The food was delicious! After a full day of traveling and hiking, we continued to Aguas Calientes for the night before our next day filled with exploring Machu Picchu ruins and the Huayna Picchu hike. The hike up Huayna Picchu was intense, but so worth it! The trip concluded with a train ride to Ollantaytambo and a car ride to Cusco. Valentin was so friendly, funny and courteous throughout the whole 2 days. He taught us so much about Incan history, culture and traditions, and took endless photos of us. Valentin and Lidia coordinated all the details, tickets and reservations for us to make this excursion painless. Would highly recommend!!Written 3 November 2024
- juliahV3905UO0 contributionsTwo thumbs up for Machu Picchu and Valentin! My friends and I did a 2 day Inca Trail, Machu Picchu and Huyana Picchu tour with our guide Valentin. This was the highlight of our 2 weeks in Peru. Valentin was organized, knowledgable and fun. Most importantly, us three women felt safe under his care. He knew when to jump in with photo op's, share historical information and also when to let our group be just our group. I can't recommend this enough. The absolute pinch me moment was rounding the Inca trail to see Machu Picchu, unbelievable, once in a lifetime moment. It was amazing to have a guide know how to navigate the various tickets, permits, lines and transportations in this part of Peru, it would have been overwhelming and confusing to not have this support. Lastly, Huyana Picchu is very steep, narrow and I got some intense vertigo for the very first time. Valentin was calm, noticed my discomfort and immediately got me to a safer place with ease. Those that get vertigo, I would not recommend doing the full Huyana Picchu hike.Written 3 November 2024
- Ashley P0 contributionsYou’re in excellent hands with Valentin!I cannot say enough good things about our time with Valentin! He led me and two friends on a two day tour. We spent time hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and then hiking Huayna Picchu. It takes a special type of person to make three females feel safe in the Peruvian jungle with a man and Valentin was INCREDIBLE. We felt safe and looked out for. He did an excellent job making sure everything was well organized and we worried about absolutely nothing while he was our guide. He also knew all the best photo ops and took such great pictures of us that we’ll cherish. The food prepared for lunch on our hike was delicious and it was just SUCH. A great experience. Please (!!!) book with Valentin, you will not be disappointed. His English is great if you are an English speaker and he’s got a great sense of humor. His team is very communicative prior to travel and makes everything so easy.Written 28 October 2024
- markwT4115OT0 contributionsA great trip!Valentin and his team were great. They were not only wonderfully attentive to each of our needs, but they were also great when someone in our group hurt herself. All of the accommodations were excellent and the lunch at his farm was wonderful.Written 14 October 2024
- Sixtyyearoldgrump0 contributionsHighly recommend this tour companyMy wife and I were very pleased with our tour. Spectacular and amazing were the two words that I have been using to describe the trip to my friends. The short Inca trail was spectacular (although you would need to be in fairly good shape). The accommodations in Machu Picchu were four star and excellent. The provided meals were all great, including the one the porter carried up high for us. The farm visit and meal were a high light of the trip (much to my surprise). The town of Ollantaytambo was remarkable, a 500’year old Inca town. The salt mines and Morais and Pisa were cool and Valentin provided wonderful commentary, a real personalize experience. Everything went smoothly on this leg of our trip (not so the parts we planned ourselves). I liked Valentin a lot and his office people were great. I would strongly recommend using his services.Written 12 October 2024
- Exploration7622560 contributionsInternational Yoga retreat with guided tours of Sacred ValleyThis was my first International Yoga retreat with guided tour and it by far exceeded my expectations. I have returned home feeling rejuvenated! Valentine’s Pachamama Journeys served as our local guide for the full 10 day excursion to the Sacred Valley. Valentine, along with International Yoga, curated a wonderful assortment of activities, ranging from exploring Inca ruins (including Pisac, Ollantaytambo, and Machu Picchu) , hiking, visiting a family farm, meeting locals, learning about ancient traditions and art, and partaking in Andean cuisine. Valentine, his son Kenny, and the whole Pachamama staff were very knowledgeable, patient, and excellent care takers. I always felt safe and welcome and found myself laughing at Valentine’s humorous stories. Most importantly, I found Valentine to be truly inspirational. From his humble upbringing to his strong work ethic, he has built a remarkable tour company that gives back to the community, especially to building schools for pre-school age children of whom we had the pleasure to see their growth in action. I highly recommend Valentine’s Pachamama Journeys for any of your Peruvian experiences. You will be thrilled with this choice.Written 6 October 2024
- TravelerCDJ0 contributionsIncredible visit to Machu Picchu and beyondMy sister and I went to Peru on an international yoga retreat and had the incredible luck to have Valentin and his team for our guides. I have been on my adventure travels and this proved to be one of the best. Valentin and his team are extremely accommodating and knowledgeable abouts his beloved Peru. He loves his county and community and it shows in the preschool he started and supports to his family farm and his status in the community. His tour was adapted to the group to be both physical, with a 6 mile hike and one to Machu Picchu, and opportunities for cultural and social by visiting his family farm and Cusco. I can not recommend him enough.Written 6 October 2024
- R291KUcarolb0 contributionsValentin and Kenny made the International Yoga Retreat Extra Special!Valentin was our guide for a yoga retreat I went to Peru with. We visited the Sacred Valley, Cusco, and Macchu Picchu. He and Kenny, and the rest of their group, were extremely knowledgeable of the Incas and all the history associated with the areas we visited. They were personable and also quite funny at times! I would highly recommend using 'Valentin's Pachamama Journeys' for any tour needs in Peru. I just may sign up for another one in the future! Thank you Valentin and Kenny!! You made it a trip to remember. Until next time...Written 3 October 2024
- Lushan1230 contributionsFantastic km104 trekWe had a great private tour with Herlin who took us on the km104 trek into Machu Picchu. He was knowledgeable and good-humoured. The trek itself was beautiful and a unique way to see Machu Picchu as well as other notable sights en route. The booking process was straightforward. We dealt with Lidia by email who was always responsive to my queries and arranged everything perfectly. We would highly recommend Valentin’s company.Written 1 October 2024
- 323sungc0 contributionsIncredible, enlightening experience through Andean history! Two of us booked a four night stay with three guided tours, including one to Machu Picchu and one to a number of sites in the Sacred Valley, including the salt mines of Maras and Moray. Wilson guided us through all of these visits, and he was an incredible source of cultural knowledge and history. I don't think there was a single question he couldn't answer, from Inca history to bio-ecology to current affairs. I have no doubt that Wilson is special in his expertise, and I would highly recommend touring with him if you are interested in learning. Wilson is clearly an important and popular part of the communities here. It felt like many vendors treated us with special care because we were with Wilson. Our drivers Daniel and Kenny were also extremely professional and friendly. The entire trip, whether we were in the car, or walking with Wilson through the sites, we felt very taken care of. Thank you to all three of you :)Written 22 September 2024

Major compliments to this tour company and my recent guide, Kenny! From our first email exchange Lydia was gracious and friendly, answering all of my questions and taking care of the details promptly. Kenny arrived at my hotel on time - in the pouring rain - and we spent the next several hours on a great walking tour of the central and historic parts of the city. He is very knowledgeable of Peruvian culture and history, which made walking through places like the Mercado Central de San Pedro a wonderful learning experience. Beyond his expertise as a guide, Kenny was also a very gracious host, even purchasing an umbrella from a street vendor for me as the rain lasted a long time! One of the best parts of the tour was our visit to the Planetarium (dress warmly because it can be quite cool there after dark); Joanna was a most excellent guide - and a wonderful storyteller! - in this portion of the tour, providing lots of historical and astronomical insights to the Andean perspective of the connection between the earth and the heavens. I was here during the early days of the rainy season, so we were lucky that the clouds cleared enough to view both Saturn and Venus through their powerful telescope. My tour ended with dinner at a restaurant that the locals love - another reason I appreciated touring with this company. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and I look forward to booking another tour soon with Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys.

This is my husband and I’s second time in Cusco so this time around we were looking to explore more locally. We saw the Cusco at night tour and thought it was exactly the type of tour we were looking for. Our tour guide was Jhimmy. Jhimmy walked with us around the plaza and told us about its history and significant events in the area. After that, we walked over to a popular supermarket, followed by a restaurant/bar with amazing views of the square along with THE BEST pisco sours we’ve tasted so far.
We went to the planetarium afterwards and ended the night with some tasty pollo a la brasa.
The tour was great and Jhimmy is a big factor in this. He is knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and honest. He loves what he does, and you can tell due to the wonderfully positive energy he brings. It felt like we were hanging out with a good friend!
We absolutely enjoyed our tour and highly recommend them/ Jhimmy for your next adventures! Thank you Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys and Jhimmy!

He really took time to show us all around the city and planetarium, and could not imagine our trip without doing this. 10/10 for sure. The Cusco by Night tour was an excellent beginning to our trip in Peru. Kenny showed us around the market and gave a tour of the Plaza de Armas, then we went up to the best roof top to view the city as it was coming alive at night, and tried our first Pisco Sour. The planetarium is small (and cold!) but Kenny and the planetarium crew are very passionate about the stars and it showed. Would highly recommend.

Valentin first showed us around Cusco in the evening and shared with us details about Cusco’s history before taking us to the Planetarium, which was later followed by a delicious local dinner. It was an amazing evening. Valentin is extremely knowledgeable about Cusco’s history and shared with us details about his childhood and growing up in Cusco. We enjoyed his insight tremendously. The Planetarium was a unique experience that we highly recommend. It was also very romantic. Overall our experience was exceptional and we think any trip to Cusco would be incomplete without a tour with Valentin’s Pachamama tour experience.

Our evening was just as described on the promotion for this tour. It is a good excursion, whether you are new to town and need to take it easy on your first few days, or if you’ve already been here a short while, like us. My teenage daughter and I had a wonderful, casual and informative evening with our guide, Ernesto. He was very attentive and thoughtful. And he spoke English very well.
Thank you to Ernesto and the team from Valentin’s Pachamama Journeys for your attention to detail from beginning to end!

Valentin and Kenny were the most knowledgeable, passionate, interesting and personable tour guides. Traveled to Peru with my daughter and son in law along with his parents. Letting Valentin know that I had bum knees, he took the utmost care in helping me navigate everything involved with the tour. We enjoyed San Pedro market, the Plaza square with our Pisco sours, the planetarium, and the best chicken dinner with Valentin, son Kenny and his wife. He told us so many details and facts about the history of Cusco. Valentin is such a fascinating man in his tour guide life and his private life. An outstanding human being all around. Guess I will have to go back one day so I can see his farm in the Sacred Valley!

Hi , my flight arrives Cusco at 430pm, can you pick me up from the airport and start the tour from then?
Written 31 March 2019
This answer would need to come from the tour operator, but your flight arrival time doesn’t seem to be a good match for this tour. We started at 3:30 from our hotel a few blocks from the Plaza. At that time of day, you likely have about 30 minutes from the airport to the Plaza. From our experience, you wouldn’t have time to do all the listed activities. Maybe they have a modified (shorter) tour.

Hello! Is it possible to make a reservation for just one person? The description states “minimum 2 people per booking.” I will be on my own in Cusco for a few days while my friends are hiking, and I think I would greatly enjoy this tour. Thank you.

Is there an age limit as my son of 9 wishes to come on the trip?

No, it should be fine. He will enjoy the market and planetarium!

Did you look through a telescope at the planets and stars after the planetarium lecture?

We did-they had two very high-tech telescopes for us to look through. Unfortunately for us it was very cloudy that night & we couldn't see much. It was also very cold, so be sure to dress warm-the blankets were very helpful that they gave to us to wrap up!
