About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- cvcnlayla0 contributionsPerfect day in ValparaisoWe enjoyed every minute of our tour. Cristian was a wonderful guide who answered our (many!) questions all day and was very receptive to the types of things we wanted to do. We were running late and he was very gracious and accommodating. He even made reservation for our lunch. His love for Valparaiso and Chile really shines through - a true ambassador for his country and his culture. 100% recommend!Written 8 February 2025
- O1566COmiab0 contributionsA must-visit spot in South America!ValparaĂso’s vibrant streets and colorful murals amazed us! The walking tour was insightful and fun, showcasing the city’s eclectic charm. Our guide was fantastic.Written 23 January 2025
- FisherJY0 contributionsA must do!Great tour. Definitely recommend. 3 hours was perfect. I think if you did longer you’d get a bit bored. Our guide was super friendly and he kept us very entertained. The perfect was to see art and scenery in ValparaisoWritten 30 December 2024
- Lucasinho0 contributionsGreat tour and Excellent GuideExcellent trip. Catalina was a lovely guide and answered our many questions. It was very clear she is close to the artistic community of Valparaiso and we felt we were getting an insight into same. I’d really recommend this trip as we got to see parts of the city we wouldn’t have ordinarily.Written 24 December 2024
- AnnM7890 contributionsAn amazing tour and well worth the money! Christian is the best!!Christian was absolutely the best!!! His English is impeccable, his knowledge of the area, including things that he knew because he grew up in the area, was outstanding. Highly highly recommend his service and his company. He truly loves what he does and it shows!!!Written 2 December 2024
- petergA9515ZS0 contributionsGreat tour experience!Great tour! Cristian, the tour guide, is fantastic. Patatours is his company. He has a charismatic personality and he is all about service and helping others. He normally would have taken us up a funicular, but the staff were on strike, so he took us by bus instead, to get up to Cerro Alegre (hilly historic neighborhood above the city center). Then we walked back down. Cristian lives in Cerro Alegre and grew up there, so he knows it well. Along the way he took us to a few shops and art galleries, while sharing history, culture, and architecture. He also had helpful tips and information for visitors just arrived and getting oriented in Valparaiso.Written 29 November 2024
- E7017WVmatthews0 contributionsBest in Valpo!Christian was an amazing guide, we saw valpo as a local and with a warm and happy vibe. There is history to learn, artists to meet and amazing views. So many photographic places too, this is a must see and we highly recommend!Written 17 November 2024
- 604kellyy0 contributionsBest way to visit Valparaiso! If we could rate this experience 10 stars, we would! This tour was PHENOMENAL. Valparaiso is one of the most beautiful places on the planet, and Cristian's passion for his hometown took that beauty to the next level. Cristian tailored the experience based on our interests and used storytelling to create magic at every turn. Not only were my wife and I impressed but our three children (ages 15, 13, and 11) were delighted with the day as well. We visited so much of the city and had a delicious lunch as well. Cristian created a productive, yet relaxed environment, and we felt like family by the end of the day. MUST BOOK!Written 9 August 2024
- M1001YUmelaniet0 contributionsPerfect Valpo tour! This walking tour of Valpariso was amazing! We cannot say enough good things about Cristian and the amazing day we had. Having someone that knows the area intimately was so helpful. We were able to see a mix of local life and tourist attractions. Cristian did an amazing job of sharing the history of the city, neighborhoods, and country but in a way that was never boring. While the full day tour was a fair amount of walking, it always at a comfortable pace and with public transport sprinkled in so you didn't walk the whole time. Appreciate the time and attention to detail provided. Would recommend without hesitationWritten 3 July 2024
- 42richardj420 contributionsFantastic tour of ValpoOne of the best tours we’ve ever done & Sebastian is the best guide we’ve ever had. He was so friendly & patient, spoke perfect English & made everything run smoothly. He even waited for us whilst we had lunch & then took us back to our hotel. Having a private tour meant that we could see whatever sights we wanted plus excellent suggestions from Sebastian - he whizzed us around super efficiently via buses, ascensores & trolley buses as well as walking through the street art neighbourhoods. It would have taken us at least 2 days to do it ourselves. We visited the fish & vegetable markets, Pablo Neruda’s house + lots & lots of street art. We couldn’t recommend the tour more highly.Written 4 April 2024
- Exploration1895830 contributionsSpending a day in Valparaiso, an experience not to be missedThis is an amazing tour and completely worth it. Our guide, Paula, has live in Valparaiso all her life and clearly loves her city. The highlights were riding public transports and seeing the fish market.Written 18 March 2024
- infntyTravel0 contributionsAmazing authentic experience in ValparaisoWe really appreciated a full day walking tour of Valparaiso with Patatour Chile. It was a great experience starting with booking and planning our custom tour to the authentic visit to the fish and vegetable markets, eating a warm and fragrant humita, walking through the colorful streets of Valparaiso and a yummy lunch. Our guide Christian was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional and created a wonderful adventure for us. We were treated not merely as customers but also as good friends. If you are visiting Valparaiso or Viña Del Mar I would highly recommend getting one of the walking tours offered by this great company! Many thanks to you, Christian, we are very fortunate to have met you!Written 10 March 2024
- avram30 contributionsThe tour name is "ValparaĂso in One Day" Mission Accomplished! Our January small group shore excursion was fortunate enough to have Cristian Diaz as our guide, the owner of PataToursChili. And boy, did he deliver a unique experience using ValparaĂso's trains, buses and three funiculars. For starters, Cristian took us to the local fish market where fishermen unload their morning catch into wooden boxes as the sea lions barked at the pier. From there we explored the city, literally up and down, meeting local artists along the way and stopping for lunch at a yummy seafood restaurant overlooking the city. If you want to get off the tourist beaten track and take in ValparaĂso as the locals do, take this field trip!Written 2 February 2024

- mauisuzy0 contributionsPata Tours Chile gave us a great tour in Valparaiso!Sebastian was an amazing tour guide! He was sensitive to my husband’s needs, as he can’t walk a lot, and needs to rest from time to time. He was very knowledgeable, had a cute sense of humor, personalized our tour to our interests, as well as making sure he showed us all the interesting, historical, and/or cultural sights. Valparaiso is so much more than what you see on the surface… Sebastian made the city come alive. Thank you PataTours!Written 27 January 2024

I’m happy to have trusted all of the reviews because they’re a true testament of how amazing this tour is.
The experience is unique; in the morning, you are submerged into local culture & way of life and in the afternoon you explore Valparaiso with a tourist point of view. It’s a long day but it went by quickly. One of the best tour curriculum I’ve experienced.
Catalina was excellent! She’s articulate in English, very knowledgeable and passionate with what she does. She exudes energy and enthusiasm for her culture. She also knows a lot of people in her community; bus drivers, local artists, etc.
I highly recommend this experience and strongly suggest you do this activity as soon as you arrive in Valparaiso in order to become familiar with the city’s neighbourhoods, markets, public transport, restaurant choices, etc.

Best tour ever what an amazing day. I’ve done a lot of Airbnb experiences, and this was one of the best. We truly felt like a local super engaging, and fun. I had a special request for my husband who’s goal it is to play his song’s for people every town he visits and Cristian made it happen at this amazing restaurant where we stopped for the best lunch, my husband was introduced by the owner and played two of his songs on his guitar :-) the whole day we felt like we were hanging out with friends at the end we visited his wife’s art studio which was such a highlight. We booked as a day trip from Santiago and took the Turbus recommended by Cristian very easy way to get there - we highly recommend! Do not miss it!

Excellent tour!! We travelled around the city very locally; taking the bus between the narrow streets of the hills, and phoniculars; and entering the port market.
Good step, time to buy souvenirs and rest between activities.
The area chosen for lunch provides sufficient pricing options.
Sonia, our guide, is very good! very friendly!! He has a lot of knowledge, curious facts and talks all the way. We were lucky enough to have a private tour.

We took the full day Patatour tour. In the morning, Our guide, Isaac, showed us non-touristic places and in the afternoon we focused on the old city. A highlight for us was the fish market! Also we were able to take a train, bus, multiple funiculars - giving us a glimpse of authentic Valparaiso. Isaac is knowledgeable and charming - he seems to know everyone in town. Even if you just want to see the old city, I think it’s best to have a guide because it’s very confusing. Highly recommend the full day tour.

Christian is a top notch guide and fantastic ambassador for Chile and his home city of Valparaiso. Christian does a wonderful job of showing us all sides of the place he has known his whole life. He educates you on the history and growth of this coastal city which really has old world charm. Christian takes you to some amazing vistas and takes you to so many beautiful working funiculars. The fish market and the farmers market were a blast as were the empanadas we had for lunch. This is really a special day and worth making happen no matter how tight your schedule is.

In many years of traveling, this was the best tour I have ever been on!! If you are in Valpo and don't spend a day exploring with Paula, you are missing out. It is such a treat to be welcomed into a beautiful and unique city by a true Porteño who has such a genuine love for all it offers. Paula went above and beyond for us, inviting us to discover and taste local foods at the market, admire gorgeous murals and then later meet their artists, and so much more. Paula, thank you for sharing your stories and your city—we had SUCH a fun day exploring with you, and we miss our BFF&E already! <3

We arrived in Valparaiso by cruise ship and were looking a walking day tour near our ship. Christian met us at the terminal and brought back right on time! The cost of the tour included the cost of the convenient public transportation we used to get around the local neighborhood. It was nice that we didn’t need to worry about converting money.
Christian is a terrific tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and was open to any requests we had about stops for the tour. He made reservations for our group of 14 at a charming and delicious restaurant.

Great communication; notified us immediately of change in meeting time. Small group of eleven plus the tour guide Christian. He took us to the places of his childhood; even took us to his office/wife’s art studio. She presented us with local food and we got to meet his son. Christian’s love of his country, his city, and his family was very evident. His knowledge of the area was remarkable. He shared his information with passion and humor. We experienced the local train, bus, trolley, and three vernaculars (cable cars). At times the inclines and steps were a challenge but he always encouraged us to go slow. He kept reminding us that his goal was to get us back alive! Do yourself a fat and “tour like a local “.

We had the best day in Valpo! I highly recommend Patatours and especially Cristian, who was amazing. He showed us the main touristic highlights of the city but also the behind the scenes, local spots. We had a 5 year old as part of the group and he made sure to include some fun stuff for her to see so she wouldn't get bored either - she especially loved the pelicans and sea lions. This tour was the perfect mix of history, sights, food, trivia, art and beauty. We loved it.

We had a great day with Sebastian. Communication the day before on meeting place and timing was excellent. The tour allows you to see both touristic side, fish markets and regular neighborhoods. We were on all forms of transportation(subway, bus, cable car, and funicular) and saw great street art. It was a perfect int to the city
