Overview
Delight all of your senses during a historical and cultural half-day tour to Santa Rita winery from Santiago. Gain insight into traditional winemaking techniques as you stroll serenely through sprawling vineyards; learn about the intriguing history of the antique estate upon which wine has been fermented for over 100 years; and pleasure your palate with a tantalizing tasting session in the elegant wine bar. Stop at other significant historical sites during this enriching experience in the heat of the Chilean countryside.
What to Expect
Depart from your Santiago hotel in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan to begin your journey into the lush environs of the city. Enjoy the scenic surroundings as you venture closer towards Santa Rita winery, located in the verdant valleys of the Maipo winemaking region.

Greet your winery guide in the sculpted gardens of the winery and embark upon a 1-hour tour admiring the colonial majesty of the buildings and gorgeous grandeur of the greenery. Gain insight into the intriguing history of the estate, learning about how it was the first place to grow European grape varieties in Chile; stop to admire a famous stone and mortar sculpture known as Bodega 1.

Enter the renowned Dona Paula Restaurant to discover the tale of rebellious soldiers and the refuge they sought within the establishment. Tantalize your taste buds by sampling the Santa Rita 120 wine, a variety that honors the rich history of the enclave. Savor the diverse flavor of three reserve wines, educating your palate to identify the distinct taste of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay and cabernet franc.

Enjoy a gentle stroll through the manicured gardens of the winery, exploring the on-site Andean museum or simply absorbing the tranquil ambience under the shade of a tree. Peruse the wine shop in search of special souvenirs before returning to your Santiago hotel in comfort.

We got back to the Touristik kiosk after 4.5 hrs. Traffic can be a problem sometimes and the bus ride is about 45 minutes. You are at the winery for 1.5 hrs, I think. It's plenty.
