- P6208ZXelises0 contributionsGreat experience!!We had a wonderful time during the cycling tour with Alga. He showed us around and explained a lot about the area, rice fields and temples. We visited three local businesses where we learned more about the making of emping, tofu and honey from stingless bees. We would recommend this tour to everyone who is looking for an authentic tour and great time!Written 11 September 2024

- Marc_LeTourist0 contributionsGreat host! Great tourWhen you are looking for a fine host and an exceptional biking experience around Jogjakarta and Prambanan, look no further. Algalova is a nice guide and with his own ‘travel agency’ (he learned English and being a tour guide all by himself) he wants to show his community the greatness and possibilities Yogyakarta has to offer. Recommend his tours with a big YES!Written 4 September 2024
- miradb20240 contributionsGreat fun!A new and truly different experience. We learned about Javanese culture during the class which was very interesting. It was also nice to see our shooting improve by the end of the session, which made it all the more enjoyable.Written 27 August 2024
- ejvyph0 contributionsGreat way to visit Yogyakarta in a dayMy brother and I really enjoyed the whole experience. Alga was very accommodating and suggested the best way to tour around Borobudur and Prambanan temples with the bike tour in between. Our driver throughout the trip, Jack, was very hospitable and even brought us to some other temples near the area. Aside from our actual tour of Prambanan and Borobudur, the bike tour around villages was a great way to learn about some of the local industries and a peek into the daily lives of families working in the local industries. The biker tour guide ( sorry I forgot the name :( ) shared stories about the history of these local industries and how Alga Tours helps by partnering with them. Overall, this tour really made our stay in Yogyakarta very memorable. Sharing some tips: - I did some research and eventually came across Alga Tours website which includes a WhatsApp contact option. I directly talked with Alga via WhatsApp ahead of our trip and finalized the tour. I think directly talking to the tour provider (I did since it is vetted in TripAdvisor through reviews) can end up with some savings instead of booking via online platforms. Note, this might be a case to case basis so better do some research. - If you prefer to avoid the intense heat, I suggest you visit Borobudur during sunset (book the last timeslot at 15:30). - The bike tour is best done in the early morning while the sun has not fully risen yet.Written 26 August 2024
- A2261HAmariob0 contributionsAmazing! Mixing adrenaline and knowledge. The ATV adventure was Amazing! So much fun and we learned a lot! Higly reccomended, Yulien, oír guide was the BEST one we had in our 25 days trip in Indonesia. He explained everything carefully and show us different interesting spots explaining and show us how the rice is made step by step.Written 22 August 2024
- Marc L0 contributionsVery good cycling tour across villagesThe tour was well organised, not difficult (flat), and the equipment was in good shape. They guided our family (2 adults + girl of 18 + boy of 16) through the little streets of small villages where we saw different plantations including rice fields. We also met with locals producing honey (delicious and different from EU), crackers and tofu. The tour agency also sponsors the locals by teaching them English and trying to develop tourism across these villages to motivate young generations to stay in the villages! We did this tour in combination with a visit of Prambanan at 4.00pm to see the sunset. The whole family enjoyed.Written 14 August 2024
- K5290SXluisp0 contributionsA Beautiful Cultural ExperienceBy far this was the best decision I ever made while visiting Jogya. Riding my bike through the villages and temples was a humbling experience. The people here are very nice! I recommend this tour 100% if you are into biking and experiencing the local culture book this tour.Written 12 August 2024
- nycchick010 contributionsTerrific! What a COOL experience! The company was very accommodating and quick to respond over WhatsApp. We arrived 30 mins late bc of various road closures close to the address but Bagus and the teacher still accommodated us. My kid, 9 year old son, had a great time, as did I. The archery teacher is also an artist and so the bows are beautifully handcrafted by him and the teaching studio is lovely. Bagus was our guide and helped facilitate translation….then went out of his way to give us a lift to the temple afterwards when it was clear we would not make it to prambanan otherwise before closing. Thank you!Written 11 August 2024
- 457nielsd0 contributionsMust-do near JokjakartaWe had a great time and would definitely recommend. This is a fantastic way to see rural Java. Our kids especially liked the stops underway: making chips from nuts, tofu, honey. Last but not least the cinematic backdrops make awesome pictures!Written 6 August 2024

My class was a great experience of learning how to make a Batik painting.
The tour offered to pick me up from the train station or bus terminal to save me time to get there. There was then a good explanation on how the process worked and I was given a chance to test my skills before doing my actual painting.
There were multiple designs they offered me but if you are more creative you can do your own.
I kept getting assistance to make sure my painting was ready to colour. There are a few colours you can use but you can make them lighter by adding water.
Once everything was done, I went to a small temple across the road to look around at whilst my painting was drying.
My guide also was great in taking photos and videos of me during different stages of the process.
I felt that this was an amazing cultural experience and it is better to go to Prambanan for this class, not the temples.
Terima kasih banyak!

What it's special about this class is that you learn every step of the batik making process in great detail; both Alga and the owners are very knowledgeable and passionate about the art of Batik and you can feel it throughout this experience.
Titik it's such a positive energy pill! Haha her friendliness, patience and continuous encouragement radiate and boost everyone's motivation and focus.
And also nice tea/coffee chit-chat with tasty snacks!

It was a lovely experience. We enjoyed ourselves drawing out our pictures and then waxing before colouring. The teacher was so helpful and pleasant. While our batiks were drying we saw the nearby Buddhist temple with our English speaking guide. Thoroughly recommend this.

Bu Titik is an expert in batik, she is full of energy and smile, she teaches patiently and showers me with encouragement. She knows what she is doing, and doing it with passion. The area is in the village near Prambanan, very quiet and peaceful. Recommended experience if you visit Jogjakarta.

I had a wonderful saturday morning/afternoon with this Batik workshop. Mas Alfa, Mas Bagus and IbuTitip did everything they could to receive me with open arms. Alfa picked me up from the trainstation and Bagus and Titip guided me (with delicious snacks and cold drinks) through the creative process. Since I was the only one, I could take all the time I wanted for my creation, I loved it so much! In the drying break they borrowed me a bike, so I could bike to the nearby Temple, which was a beautiful add on. After finishing my batik piece, Bagus even brought me to an event close to the Prambanan, so I could see some traditional dancing. All in all, I had a lovely creative day, and would recommend this workshop to everyone!

It was an eye-opening experience learning about the different types of batik prints and the process of batik making. Painting my own batik piece from scratch was surprisingly challenging yet incredibly therapeutic. I've truly developed a newfound respect for batik professionals and their dedication to the craft!

Despite arriving half an hour late, due to transport difficulties, Batus welcomed us and kindly made us feel comfortable and relaxed. Batus is a very patient teacher, and trying our hand at Batik Making was an interesting and really lovely experience. A quiet, thoughtful, and creative activity away from the hubbub of the city for 3 hours. Restorative.

We had great time learning how to prepare batik. I would say it's a must if you happen to be in Yogya! Our children loved the whole process, especially the coloring :) We were taught by a local batik artist with huge experience, it was a real honor. There is also a gallery where you can admire different batik fabrics made by women from the region, as the organizer is involved in women's empowerment movement.
When the fabric was drying, we were taken to see the nearby temple - very old and beautiful. Our host showed us around and aswered all the questions.
Highly recommended!

The class was lovely, they provided tea and snacks and were patient with me. Batik is more complex than I thought and they did a good job balancing teaching me the steps, being patient/kind and stepping in to help to ensure my designs came out nicely.i would go back if I had more time. The place was really like a home in a village with an art gallery of beautiful batik fabrics. For the class it was just me, the lady who owns the business and a translator/guide. Everyone was nice. The translator/guide knew it was my last day and took me to temples while the piece dried and gave a decent lesson. The temple he showed me had a beautiful history and because it wasn't borubudur or prambanan it was mostly empty. it was a perfect relaxed activity for a last day. It did go over the time so I would not plan something immediately after.
