About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Z7540DYisabellar0 contributionsIncredible day in Hong Kong!Honestly, this is the best tour I have ever been a part of. Mel, our guide, was so funny and knowledgeable. The communication, history, culture and of course the food was all world class. The private tour was totally customized to our liking and preferences. Absolutely can't experience while in Hong Kong!Written 13 January 2025
- yannericm20240 contributionsAmazing tour with SinclairAmazing tour. Sinclair brought us to very locql restaurants that I would not have even seen otherwise. He also gave us a lot of context and anecdotes on chinese cuisine and culture, which was really the best part of the tour. And he is curious and very open to discussion!Written 11 January 2025
- adamato210 contributionsWorth the trip - excellent food and places I would never have been able to find!!Ivy was amazing! Her great reviews are well deserved. Very attentive and informative She was accommodating and attentive to each one of usWritten 8 January 2025
- Trail345914869750 contributionsAlfred and the four hour stop over tour of Hong Kong - brilliant. We had a four hour lay over tour by car. Alfred, our guide, picked us up at the airport and that's where the fun began. In the short time we had available we walked the avenue of stars along the Victoria Harbour waterfront and then took the Star ferry. The car met us off the ferry and took us to the funicular railway where we got the tram to Victoria Peak and back. The car then took us to the Ladies Market where we had a walk around before being deposited back at the airport right on time. Alfred was superb - his knowledge and information was excellent, he was extremely friendly and good company but most impressive was his skills at guiding us around Hong Kong. He knew the best places to stand for photo opportunities, the quickest routes in and around places avoiding queues and bottlenecks. Alfred tailored the tour to our specific requests whilst making great suggestions of things we didn't know to enhance our visit and he managed the time really well.. I was concerned about leaving an airport in an unknown land with the family on a lay over but this was a stress free superb experience which enhanced our travel and was made super easy by Alfred and the Hello, Hong Kong team.Written 7 January 2025
- 495tianan0 contributionsGreat food tour for solo travellersGreat food tour! Got to try so many dishes and see parts of HK that I wouldn't have ventured to on a short solo trip. Sinclair was a friendly and helpful guide.Written 6 January 2025
- shanemN7243DK0 contributionsHONG KONG TOUR WITH KIYONow I’m unsure where to start, but here goes…. We decided to take a two day layover in Hong Kong and take a look around, we booked a tour thinking it would be best as we had little time and was unsure where to go… We were met at our hotel by our guide who was fully of energy and had a huge welcoming smile. He introduced himself…his name was Kiyo. (please remember his name) Kiyo was AWESOME. He spoke to us for a few minutes at the start our tour, asked us some telling questions, then customised the tour to our exact needs…. They were, we want to understand the people and the culture of Hong Kong. We were not disappointed. In six hours we went to nine different areas of Hong Kong. Kiyo explained to us the history of Hong Kong. Not only in words, but in places we visited. The political, the cultural, and the people;s history. We went from naive tourists, to extremely interested students of Kiyo. His passion for his country, culture, people and beliefs inspired us to want to learn and see more. For us, what we were expecting, to what we received was far different. Kiyo gave us so much more…. For anyone thinking about doing a tour of Hong Kong, you will not be disappointed. (especially if you ask for, or get Kiyo as your guide.) …. also a special mention to Ken - our driver who was also very good … Thank you Kiyo for giving us your time, your energy and your passion in teaching us about your amazing country and culture. It was an experience we will never forget and we cannot thank you enough. Shane & Trish.Written 5 January 2025
- H9609RIelizabethv0 contributionsHighly RecommendHello! Hong Kong’s Food & Culture tour was an unforgettable culinary adventure! From the moment we began, our knowledgeable guide, Mel, took us through the vibrant streets, immersing us in the rich culture and history of this amazing city. The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the opportunity to sample authentic local cuisine including Rice Rolls, Egg Tart, and Pineapple Buns, just to name a few. I highly recommend this food tour to anyone visiting Hong Kong. It’s a delightful way to explore the city, meet wonderful people, and, most importantly, savor some of the best cuisine the world has to offer!Written 2 January 2025
- Adrian M0 contributionsFantastic ExperienceWe throughly enjoyed our tour and would highly recommend to others. It was a fantastic way to learn about the country, people and culture. The food was great and Sinclair, our guide, was amazing.Written 30 December 2024
- Daydream072450738830 contributionsAn excellent morning tourAlex was amazing and the food was fantastic. We had a combination of history, culture, cuisine and exercise. This is the second tour with Alex and Hello Hong Kong. We found them both very professional, informative and very enjoyable. We both thoroughly enjoyed our morning. Thank you!Written 22 December 2024
- karenboelen0 contributionsNot trustfulThey cancelled last minute because only 3 persons. Too late for us to arrange something else. So we do not recommend this organisation.Written 18 December 2024
- renet9880 contributionsTotally worth it!Alex was a really great tour guide! We had an in-depth exploration and explanation of Sham Sui Po, and got to eat delicious local food. Also got to explore the goldfish market, and ended the tour in TST by the waters. I loved that we got to learn a bit about the history of Hong Kong as well. Thank you for the tour, and for taking great photos of us!Written 12 December 2024
- Missynat11250 contributionsWonderful way to see Kowloon in a Short span of timeOverway is a great way to get to know the city and eat your way through some local food places that, on my own, I would never have tried. I also saw a part of Kowloon that only a local would know. Alex was a great tour guide.Written 12 December 2024
- MFJHES0 contributionsA wonderful dive into the real life people of Hong Kong and their long history and cultureOur guide was excellent . Very knowledgeable and informative. Gave us a real insight to Kowloon and real Chinese culture. Utilized his knowledge of public transport system and knowledge of local markets used by every day residents of Hong Kong . Sampled food that locals relishWritten 11 December 2024
- Inspire7974260 contributionsCheck the pricing carefully before you book.We had an amazing day with our guide Alfred who was very knowledgeable and attentive and made the trip very enjoyable. Lantau is definitely worth a trip if you are in Hong Kong. The Big Buddha is a wonder, and the trip to Shek-O was also very interesting. Alfred showed us some different temples and explained the different religions and beliefs in detail. He also took lots of photos for us. Lunch was very good too. Our only issue was the listing, which we found misleading. We booked when we were already in Hong Kong so assumed that the price shown was in HK dollars, however it was actually in US dollars which we only realised when the cost appeared on our bank statement. Since we were in Hong Kong when we booked, and are UK based it never occurred to us that the price would be in US dollars, and the listing didn't show this - it just showed the dollar sign, not which dollars we would be paying. This made the cost a lot more than we had anticipated. Having said that, we had a great day, and would definitely recommend Alfred as a guide.Written 10 December 2024
- Locococomama0 contributionsNoodles were the highlight. This tour was OK and the noodles outstanding, but out of the 4 food tours we did in China/Hong Kong, this was our least favorite. Some of the food options were not our favorite and the cost verses the amount of food was not comparable to other tours we did. Getting to know a different side of Hong Kong was great.Written 7 December 2024

Ryan was a great host. He tailored our walking tour of Hong Kong to meet our needs and wasn't stumped by any of our questions about Hong Kong's politics and history. He showed us some popular sites, markets, great places to eat at good prices, and how to get around the city on public transport. After half a day with him we felt extremely comfortable and confident about getting around during the rest of our stay. Afterwards he shared photos and more information about other things for us to do. Great communication before and after. Certainly not a cheap thing to do if you are just as a couple as we were, but if you can afford it I would highly recommend it!!

Mel was terrific. A very nice guy and very knowledgeable. He took us to the Hong Kong behind the tourist spots to give us a flavor of the people and the vitality of the city. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend both Hello Hong Kong and Mel. Also took us to a great lunch which we would have never found on our own.

On our first of five days in Hong Kong, our guide Agnes showed us and told us about so many things to do and places to see. Hong Kong is like three Manhattans, which we love, and we are excited to follow up on Agnes's many suggestions. Plus, she is a charming young lady who was a pleasure to interact with, and her English is superb.

We had an excellent tour with Kiyo. Although the rain changed some of the sites we were going to see, Kiyo adjusted the itinerary and we still felt like we made the most of the time we had. We learned so much, saw a lot and experienced the culture.

My husband and I did a five hour private tour of Hong Kong with Mel and loved it! We were asked in advance if there were any specific things we wanted to do, but it was our first visit so we left it up to him. He picked us up at our hotel and shared the history of Hong Kong and took us to so many interesting places, including Victoria Peak. We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant that was delicious! The public transportation was included in the price, but we paid for entrance fees, taxis, and food. It was worth every penny! Mel speaks excellent English and was very knowledgeable about Hong Kong history. Highly recommend!

We were only in HK for 28 hours, so we booked this tour to get the most out of our time. Our guide was Ryan and he was excellent. He arrived on time for our tour, explained what we would be doing and asked if there was anything else we'd like to add. It was so customized to our needs. We took the boat, tram, subway, ding ding, etc. We ate local delicacies, learned about history and saw some amazing sights. It was the absolute best use of our time and I highly recommend the tour. Thank you so much Ryan for making our time in Hong Kong memorable!

My husband and I did a half day layover tour with Mel. He was a wonderful guide and gave us great information about the history and culture of Hong Kong. The visit to Victoria Peak is a must, with a beautiful panorama view of the city. We also squeezed in lunch at a Michelin star dim sum restaurant, Tim Ho Wan. Overall, I highly recommend Hello Hong Kong.

We had a whirlwind tour with our guide Alfred who is full of energy and knowledge about Hong Kong. We covered a lot of ground in 4 hours, learned how to get around with the subway, had a great lunch, and saw several sites we probably would have missed had it not been for Alfred. It was our first time in Hong Kong and this tour was the perfect introduction for us.

When I go through the process of determining the price of the private custom tour it seems to always spike up from $64.51 to well over $100 per person. I don't understand why the gap is so great. Perhaps the low price does exist I just can't ever seem to find it. Maybe the time I am trying to book is a high demand time? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Written 11 March 2019
It is based on how many people are getting the tour. If you are traveling in a small group, it will be cheaper person than if there are only one or two of you.
