Great way to see Xian and Shanghai from Beijing in a short time
Apr. 2019
My husband and I wanted to see Xian and Shanghai but were uneasy about logistics. This trip arranged everything for us from start to finish but allowed some free time as well. They picked us up at our hotels and delivered us to the gates/stations to catch our trains. Jasmine in Xian and Yoyo in Shanghai were superb. Both were informative, helpful, and flexible. They helped us shop, obtain meals, took photos, recommended restaurants, things to do, shops, foods to try, and answered our questions. I thought the soft sleeper bullet train was comfortable, my husband, not so much. Ride bikes on the city wall in Xian and hang off of a skyscraper in Shanghai if you are adventurous (if not get a drink at the oldest bar in China at the Waldorf and enjoy the light show at night on the Bund). Hotels were nice but hot. Weather was cool enough that opening a window made it comfortable except for the hotel in Xian (couldn't open the window.) Food was great. Factory stops okay. Keep in mind that unless your party is 4, you will be in a sleeper with people you do not know. This trip is perfect to squeeze in highlights of Xian and Shanghai from Beijing in a short time without having to worry about any details yourself. I enjoyed travelling by bullet train which was smooth and quiet and ran almost 300 km/hr most of the time. Guides and drivers were great.
