    What to Expect
Meet your guide and small group of up to eight people in central Beijing for a morning departure. Set out on a walking tour of some of the city’s oldest hutong neighborhoods, stopping at local cafés, street food stalls, and artisan shops to tuck into traditional breakfast dishes side-by-side with the locals.

Enjoy an authentic introduction to Chinese cuisine as you sample a huge variety of foods, starting with delicious silken tofu, topped with savory toppings such as chive flowers. Next, tuck into brown sugar donuts from a halal stall, then taste breakfast specialties such as "baozi"(steamed buns), deep-fried crullers, and sweet soymilk at another popular street food stall. Before you move on, try a glass of fermented mung bean milk, a Beijing elixir that elderly locals swear by, and some jarred Beijing yogurt that can only be found in the capital.

Sip a cup of coffee as you watch your "jianbing" (Chinese crepes) being made. Finish your breakfast banquet with a bowl of sweet almond pudding.

At the end of your tour, your guide can help you find your way back to your hotel.

Having done the dumpling tour in Shanghai we decided another Untour Food Tour was a must in Beijing and we weren’t disappointed. Garth, our guide, was fabulous, so knowledgeable about the history of the area and the types of food we were eating. We loved most of the food, and

I decided upon this tour because I’d gone on other similar tours (not with UnTour) within China that were fabulous and catered well to my dietary choice. This tour did not meet my expectations, sadly. On three occasions I was unable to get an alternate dish as the vendor had

Hi Erin- thank you for reviewing your experience with UnTour. We are so sorry we did not meet your expectations. As mentioned when booking on the website, vegetarians & vegans are welcome, but there will be limited options. Unfortunately, due to the upcoming national holiday one of our vendors sold out of the vegan option early, and our guides let us know that you turned down several of the alternatives we offered at other stops. We always make substitutions where possible as we understand how hard it can be traveling through a country with a language barrier like China when you have dietary restrictions. We have worked hard to create experiences that are vegetarian- and vegan-friendly wherever possible. Please contact us directly so we can offer you a complimentary ticket on one of our other vegan-friendly tours. We hope you can join us again on our Old Beijing Dinner Tour, Shanghai Night Eat Tour, or Shanghai Street Eats Breakfast Tour all of which are vegetarian and vegan friendly!

First, kudos to Untour for hosting the tour even with only 2 people. I've had tours cancel because a minimum amount of customers couldn't be met. Ricky, our guide, was superb. He explained each dish and some of the history of the hutong. The stops were all definitely unique
