The easiest way to enjoy the desert
A one-day desert expedition for Egypt visitors who are short of vacation days. Delicious food, ecstatic nature awaits tour participants.

          Unique Experience
Never took so many pics during a tour! That was absolutely fantastic and unique. From experiencing three different deserts to sleeping under the stars. A special thanks to Hazem and Hassan (I hope I spelled your names right) our 4x4 drivers and guides and chefs. Be ready to log off for 24hrs from civilisation as there is no internet connection, as it should be - and embrace primal feelings and emotions that only a vast empty land can give you.

A well-organized tour with no missteps!
We had a very enjoyable experience with this Desert Tour! Beautiful landscapes, an excellent evening meal and a guide-driver who was both discreet and competent. Sleeping bag and camel blanket were warm enough to sleep under the stars (but you can choose the tent, if you want). ;-) The itinerary follows the usual stops, so there aren’t many surprises, but the value for money is good. Special mention for the perfect punctuality during the hotel pickup.

Incredible!! Stunning scenery and night skies!
Absolutely amazing trip! Amir contacted us the day before with a detailed itinerary, pick-up information, what to expect and what to take. It's a long drive (4-5 hours) to Bawiti by minibus but worth it. We stopped at Amir's beautiful hotel to have a nice lunch then got into our 4x4 cars. The scenery is amazing! Our guide Waheed ("king of the desert!") was fantastic! Born in the desert he knew so much and was happy to answer any questions. We overnighted in the White Desert. The stars were incredible - see the photos I took! We slept outside and it was cold but the sleeping bags and blankets kept us warm. Waheed made us dinner and breakfast at our camp. Lovely food. Looking up at night under the stars...in complete silence...is something I won't ever forget! One of the best trips I've done!

          Extremely recommended, enjoyable and realiable
Absolutely worth it to travel with this tour. We enjoyed our trip from Cairo to the deserts even it was a long drive. The tour guides took good care of us. Having nice and warm freshly cooked dinner in the desert was an unique experience already, not to mention sleeping unter the stars! In addition, the fair is super reasonable while they offer something priceless to us.

          Great tour in the desert
We did the 2 nights private camping trip in the desert with my friends and really enjoyed it. Our driver Hameda (👏🏼👏🏼) was really great at making everything comfortable for us and the journey was smooth. The landscape and the desert were fantastic! We would recommend this tour company.

          Worth the money, totally recommend.
What I liked most about this tour is our guide, Hazem. He is an expert and show us everything. I don’t have any complaints and only a bunch of good memories on the desert. the problem though is the driver pick up and drop off to city. Their driving is quite dangerous. they play around each other with other tour car on the road. also most of the driver can not speak english, we don’t get much explanation when something happend, such as road block etc. this needs to be improved I guess.

On my first trip to Egypt, we went from Cairo to desert camp to Aswan to Luxor, but this desert camp was the most fun. That's because our guide, Momo, was the best! He drove powerfully but safely, prepared various attractions to entertain us, had delicious food, taught us about the history of the desert, and above all was a great personality; he was the best guide in every respect. Sleeping at night while looking at a starry sky is an unforgettable memory. While much of Egypt has been turned into a tourist destination, this desert camp is a tour where you can become one with nature and experience Egypt for yourself. For this price, this experience is really too cheap. Most tours in Egypt are generally quite rip-offs and have low satisfaction levels, but I can wholeheartedly recommend this tour. If you're having trouble deciding between the various desert camp tours, this is the one for you!

Had an absolutely amazing experience with these guys in the desert!
Pickup from hostel was on time, tidy and professional.
When we got to Bahariya, Amir made sure to let us know exactly what was going to happen. In general, communication was good. Both before and during the experience.
Our tour-guide, Hazim, was very charming and knowledgable. Usually, I’m a little sceptical with guides, but Hazim gained my trust by backing up his words with action.
I especially enjoyed that he prioritised beautiful, hidden gems and landscapes over crowded tourist attractions..
generally, the itinerary wasn’t too packed. Enough time to enjoy the sights that were scheduled.

Everything was taken care of during desert camping at night. I could focus solely on the dead silence and beautiful, starry sky, so unique to the desert. Truly a healing experience. I had some unforgettable moments that I will probably carry with me for a long, long time to come

I can totally recommend this as a taster for desert camping - or just as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

One thing, the time from arriving back at the oasis till driving home to Cairo is a bit short. Way too short for my liking. It felt very rushed. But that’s the only thing that felt rushed. :)

Thank you, White Desert Travel for making this such a remarkable experience! And especially thanks to Hazim for being an excelling driver, chef and, in general, excellent desert company~

This trip had everything: racing through the desert at 70 kilometers per hour, beautiful sunset and sunrise, impressive nature on the seabed that is millions of years old, surfing the sand dunes, delicious food by the campfire and of course sleeping under the stars.
With 1 other couple in the jeep and also with only four people on the campsite. You occasionally encounter other groups along the way. Our guide Mahmoud is a top driver and conveys the love for his desert (with accompanying music that he makes himself) with conviction. He can also cook wonderfully.
        In short, a magical experience!!

The trip was from Cairo to White Desert, Black Desert, camping overnight and back to Cairo the next day.
It was great and I'd highly recommend it!
We started off with a group of 11 and the were divided into smaller groups when we switched to 4x4 to drive into the desert. Our tour lead was Hazem and he was experienced, knew the desert like the plan of his hand, was mindful of timings while also visiting the good spots. He drove us, shared trivias of bedouin life, cooked dinner, set up tents, made breakfast while always putting up a positive vibe.
The night sky was lit up by millions of stars and it was amazing!

A long drive from Cairo to the motioning rendezvous, where we had a basic lunch then split off into small groups for the 4x4 trip into the deserts. The Black Desert was a bit underwhelming, the White Desert made up for it.
We tried the sand boarding which was easy and fun.
We camped in the White Desert later, where our tents were waiting. Our guide cooked us a nice meal then we sat round the fire for a while talking. As it was new year’s eve we decided to rest in our tents for an hour or so then get up for the new year. Around 10:30pm we could hear lots of music and partying from a nearby area (maybe 100 metres) so we made our way over. This was the general party by the various guides who were camping out around us. They had a roaring camp fire going and were singing local Egyptian songs in Arabic, playing drums and everybody joined in. In some ways this last hour of two was the highlight of the trip: singing and dancing round a camp fire, meeting lots of friendly people, and welcoming the New Year in with a fire display made in the sand by the guides.
Our tent was small but cozy. We were provided with warm sleeping bags and a camel hair blanket, so we slept like babies. We woke up early to watch the sun rise over the desert. Magical.
        A couple of tips:
Make sure you have a torch - it is pitch black at night.
Your mobile phone will probably run out of charge so bring a power bank.
There is a signal for mobile phones.
There is no toilet so be prepared to go for a wee behind a nearby rock in the dark.

An unforgettable experience, spectacular desert landscapes and sculptures, beautiful sunset, starry night and sunrise. Surfing on the dunes brutal. The whole tour on a Land Cruiser through the dunes with a Bedouin specialized in these terrains is impressive. Don't miss it.

I’m dividing this review in two parts: the organization and the desert experience. The former was bad and the latter was fantastic.
Starting with the organization, we were picked up at our accommodation by car in the morning by Amir the manager, and were dropped off at the bus station to take a public bus to Bahaiya. We’re quite surprised at this point as we expected a private transport or at least a direct tourist bus. The bus journey was around 6H and the bus stopped multiple times to take passengers. The bus was packed (and many didn’t wear mask which made us uncomfortable esp. during this pandemic).
Upon arrival at the Safari camp, another guy ‚welcomed‘ us lazily and explained the program. He asked us to give him an extra 110EGP for the entry ticket for the desert and also told us that we need to pay for drinks, also water. At this
point we knew that he was dishonest and wanted to get extra money as the first manager told us that water is included in the price and the entry ticket was 100EGP (I still don’t believe that there’s an entry fee for the desert. This is vast, open desert after all. But, well..)..
Anyways, we confronted the dishonest guy and the manager called us to apologize and tried to make things right again, for example by putting us on a direct bus to Cairo on the way back. My assumption is that this was supposed to be ‚right‘ transport, but they just put us in the cheaper bus and try to cut holes here and there to get a higher margin.

So why I gave a four-stars review? It’s all thanks to the experience in the desert. The black and white desert are truly amazing and the overnight stay with starry sky is definitely an unforgettable experience.
Our tour guide/driver/cook/tent maker, Migehad (or Miguel as he called his Spanish name/ Michael, his American name) is awesome. He has 15 years experience, knowledgeable to the area.
He did not only drove us around, but also expertly assembled and dissembled the tent,
took our pictures and cooked delicious dinner. It was also nice to hear his (funny) stories of his endeavors with touring different groups of people.

So overall it ended up a nice experience. Just make sure that you check the itinerary (what’s included and not included) before booking this tour.

It’s odd to say that nature can still be more wonderful than even the great pyramids and temples of Egypt, but it is so on this tour. There is a lot to see with a back drop of an outer worldly planet. Fossils lay all over the white powder sand, rock formations stand guard throughout the landscape and the silence is a new sensory experience.

What really made the tour special was our native Bedouin guide Mahmoud (Mo Mo) who has being doing the tour for 30 years. His driving skills through the dunes and crystal mountains was exceptional. His eye is very keen with helping find fossils and unique crystals, caves and look out points which helped a lot as you will experience sensory overload. Even more impressive was his skill in cooking over an open fire then playing traditional Bedouin flute while drinking tea under the stars. I could easily call this the best tour of my trip, but it was so different from all the sights in Egypt you cannot compare.

I booked the white desert tour and I had a blast! They picked us up from our hotel in Cairo and drove us to the desert. We visited many attractions such as the Crystal Mountain, the Black Desert, and the White Desert. The scenery was amazing and the drivers were very friendly and knowledgeable. They also let us sandboard down a dune, which was so much fun!

The camping at night was good. They provided us with tents, sleeping bags, blankets, and pillows. They also cooked us a delicious dinner and breakfast. The view of the stars at night was breathtaking. I felt like I was in another world. The drivers also put on a music show at night, playing traditional instruments and singing songs. They were very talented and entertaining.

The only fault I can find with this tour is that they dropped us off at Tahrir square and not at our hotel, so we had to walk to our hotel carrying all our luggage. This was very inconvenient and tiring. I wish they had told us beforehand that they would not drop us off at our hotel.

Overall, I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the beauty and adventure of the white desert. It was one of the best experiences of my life!

We were picked up at our hotel in Giza, went in a 4 hour drive in a comfortable van, had lunch and got separated in groups for the desert safari.
After we left the place where we had our meal, we were in the car for about 6 hours total.
It was comfortable and really fun! We started with the black desert, climbed a little mount and got a panoramic view of the region. After that, a quick stop at an oasis to take a bath. Then, crystal mountain, an awesome place to find some cool crystals. Later we entered the white desert, a region you will never forget. That place is magical, unbelievable.
Close to the sunset, we stopped at our camping stop, watched the sun going down while our guide and driver prepared our dinner.
In the evening, the group got together, chatted a little and gazed at the stars while we drank some tea.
We slept in tents or under the sky. It was really nice, and our guide Petra helped us all the time.
The next day we watched the sun rise and, after the breakfast it was time to leave the desert. We reached the house where it all started by 10h in the morning. By 15h in the afternoon we were back in Cairo. We had free water bottles all day long.

This is an unforgettable experience and we should not miss it. To maximize your experience, check the moon table and, if possible, go when you have a new moon in the sky!
