An Egyptologist that has a very good knowledge of history. We highly recommend her. She has a 5 star customer service knowledge 👏Written 24 February 2025
- NatashaW9820 contributionsTime travel with your guide Taghreed into the marvellous world of Ancient Egypt for an unforgettable experience! ❤️❤️🇪🇬We organised our day of sightseeing with Get a Guide and this is a review of this highly recommended tour. We covered Giza: Pyramid, Memphis, Sakkara Dahshur and finished with a felucca trip. It was a door to door drop off which made things easier as we were staying in the heart of downtown Cairo. Our guide Taghreed and driver Ahmed are the dream combination to take you on a time travelling trip through the impressive Egyptian dynasties. We learned so much about the history that shaped Egypt, shared unforgettable experiences and every aspect was carefully curated to maximise our love of ancient Egyptian history. The romantic felucca ride completed a spectacular anniversary celebration. Taghreed is so knowledgeable and really helped to bring the history to life, testing our knowledge and visualising the everyday lives of the Egyptians from the ordinary people to the great kings and queens. We felt as though we were walking in their footsteps as we marvelled at all that had been achieved and the legacy left behind. We maximised our experience because of Taghreed’s passion and knowledge of Egyptian history as well as Ahmed’s skilful driving ensuring we had the best opportunity to make our own memories drawn from the incredible history of Egypt. Our deepest gratitude always 😌😌❤️Written 20 November 2024
- MAMarz220 contributionsSolo TravelerIt's a must do. Great experience, lunch, and tour. The camel ride was fun. Skip the shops there are plenty of shops else where especially the bazar.Written 17 April 2024

- Aishath Azleena A0 contributionsLoved it but felt need more time…guess it’s never enough 😁The tour guide and the driver were very cheerful and helpful. Full of knowledge and tried to accommodate our kids too. But we felt it was a bit rushed to visit the pyramids of Giza and Saqqara. Didn’t have much time to actually to walk around and take our own time to appreciate. But then again perhaps it was due to traveling with small children. Would have really enjoyed if we had more time visiting the Sphinx as well. Overall we are happy with the tour.Written 16 October 2023
- David C0 contributionsSolo trip to CairoAsmaa was my guide she was amazing. The best guide ever her knowledge was outstanding and was always accommodating to my needs and wants. Asmaa went above and beyond to ensure my tour was unforgettable. She really made my trip to Cairo.Written 15 September 2023
- 877edisonr0 contributionsSuper tour with Lobna (tour lady) and Hawwed (driver)Be prepare to see all the pyramids, Sphinx and Memphis in one single shot (wear comfortable shoes) with a knowledgeable tour person (ask for Lobna and for the driver Haweed AKA Mr. Panama) 5 STARS ALL AROUND!!!Written 14 June 2023
- filipj7780 contributionsFantastic TourWe went on this Tour with our guide Essam who made this an amazing experience. The amount of knowledge he has about the ancient Egyptian Civilization is outstanding. Also on this tour we really felt that nobody wants to scam us - which is not always true in Egypt. Totally recommend!Written 21 May 2023
- Greg s0 contributionsConvenient but challengingOvernight train Cairo/Luxor/Aswan I make regular trips to Egypt and in order to save time always use the overnight train run by Watania . It is hard to find good points beyond convenience. The staff are very good, diligent and helpful. The food is not haute cuisine but (believe me)this is not the Orient Express. The hot meal in the evening is invariably chicken and rice but well prepared. The coffee is probably the worst one will ever experience. But that is not the staff's fault. The breakfast is ok but not to my taste - too much sweet bread and awful coffee. The bed linen is impeccably clean and fresh and that is where the cleanliness ends. Without exception, on all my trips, the cabin was grimy and poorly cleaned. Curtains were stained with food residue of uncertain age. The mirror had many fingerprints and smears. The tap and the wash hand basin needed a thorough clean. The mattress was far from comfortable. Hot water? Forget it. I would challenge one of the company's directors (or partner) to experience an anonymous overnight trip in one of these 1st class cabins. My description could be applied to every trip I have made on this train. Everytime I board, I know what to expect and the cabin lives down to my expectations. Why do I repeat travel - simply to save time (and grit my teeth). Don't ask about the quality sleep.Written 21 May 2023
- secondhanduzi0 contributionsGreat Experience!!!Great tour, well worth it. Our guide Tonsi was knowledgeable and did a great job of explaining some of the history behind pyramids and the dynasties / kingdoms as well as answering questions of Cairo and the surrounding area. He was very helpful navigating through the sites as well as helping us with setting up a driver for another day of sightseeing.Written 17 January 2023
- mathewmeconry0 contributionsNice tour but with some downsidesRami was a knowledgeable person and a well-informed guide about Egyptian history and the former kingdoms. Also, his German was very good. Unfortunately, he wasn't really enthusiastic about the topic and it seemed more that he wasn't enjoying giving the tour. The driver was nice and friendly and when you take the Cairo traffic into consideration really on the defense side. We enjoyed our tour except that we would loved to have a guide who is more enthusiastic about the topic. Additionally, we were also confused that we were taken into an Essential oil and papyrus shop. No idea if it belongs to the tour but you don't have to buy anything and can just say friendliy no.Written 26 September 2022
- C D D0 contributionsSleeper Train from Cairo to LuxorWe booked the sleeper with Watania Sleeper Trains from Cairo to Luxor as I had read it was a real Egyptian experience, which it was but not in a good way. The train was a conventional slow train packed with locals, the train we were on stopped at many stations during the night. It had two sleeper carriages for tourists. These carriages are way past their use by date and dirty, the only clean element was the linen on the bunks. The curtains have probably not been cleaned since the sleeper carriage was built. I cannot say the carriages are comfortable on such old rolling stock and rails, bumping along up and down, side to side during the night and the constant use of the horn by the train driver who must be an ex demented taxi driver. The compartments are well worn, unmaintained and dirty. Toilets are shared and the usual unclean state, bring wet wipes and your own toilet paper. As the train passes so many crossings and urban areas this probably explains the incessant use of the horn. At $86 per person for a shared compartment it is also well over priced for what it is. I couldn't really recommend it unless you are an incredibly solid sleeper. Our train was over two hours late getting into Luxor after 10.00 and I was no more refreshed than when I had got on the previous evening. We returned to Cairo with Egyptair where you can get single flights for as low as $50. If you are an experienced backpacker used to sacrificing comfort for prices you will probably find this service acceptable but perhaps I'm getting a bit old to slum it like this. The only positive is the very attentive cabin attendant who did his best in the circumstances.Written 11 September 2022
- meriem27770 contributionsHighly recommendWe had a great day visiting all the sites including the pyramids. Our guide Ahmed and driver Mourad were exceptional. Mourad was a very safe driver and the car ride was very comfortable. Ahmed was very knowledgable, flexible and accommodating. They went out of their way to ensure we had a smooth day. As females travelling on our own we felt very safe throughout the day. Food was also great. I would highly recommend this tour especially if visiting the pyramids.Written 14 June 2022
- 562falaks0 contributionsWonderful private tour!Ayam was an exceptional tour guide! As soon as we got in the car she explained her credentials and make us feel comfortable asking any and all questions throughout the day about ancient Egypt. The driver would always stop and pick us up at locations convenient to us. The food at the restaurant was incredible!Written 6 April 2022
- lovetotravel02020 contributionsOvernight Sleeper Train from Cairo to LuxorWe decided that it would be easier to take the sleeper trains from Cairo to Luxor as we thought this would offer us a good opportunity to see the country side, take an overnight train and it was the most cost effective. Here are couple of things we found helpful. To book the train you can book it online or at the train station. When booking online log onto Watania Sleeper trains, run by Ernst. When trying to book online you want to purchase a double cabin with two sleeper twin size beds. When booking online the cost is 80 USD per person and it has to be booked in advance. The other option is go down to Ramses train station and purchase tickets at the Watania office which is located at the train station. We purchased our tickets the day before and there was lots of availability. On the day of travel when entering Ramses train station you want to go to the left of the building on to the platform. The train you will be taking is a green and white train with sleeper written on the side. The signage and announcements are in Arabic so you need to double check and translate. There are plenty of tourists that also take the sleeper trains when in doubt you can join in with them. Cons: The cabins are small and could use a thorough cleaning, the upholstery is outdated and dirty. The toilets are down the hall and are filthy so please bring extra toilet paper and disinfecting wipes. The room can be drafty depending on the time of year you go. We took the trains in February so it was a bit cold inside the cabin but you can adjust the heat although it did take a while to come on. Smoking is permitted in Egypt therefore the smell of smoke can be found everywhere. Lastly there is no wifi on the train and if your not used to riding on a train or if you suffer from motion sickness you may want to pack gravol. Pros: The train was fast and got us there on time. They served dinner and breakfast on the train and it was delicious, you also have the option of purchasing extra coffee, tea or juice for a small fee. The customer service on the train was excellent as well. Inside the cabin is a mirror and small wash-bin so you can brush your teeth and wash your face and fresh towels are provided. There is also a space in the cabin for you to store your luggage, in addition there are two extra locks on the door for safety; regular lock on top and chain lock on the bottom of the door. Overall it was an okay experience, it did the job, as long as you bring extra blankets, bottle water, sanitizers, etc. would I do it again probably not but the experience was unforgettable.Written 9 February 2022

We had such a great experience learning about Egypt at these locations from Emo tour guide, Tonsi! He kept our pace with abundant information! We had personal time at the museum after he showed us around.
Tonsi exposed us to Egyptian food culture while we were in Khan Khalili. We had Koshari for lunch, Turkish coffee, tea w/ mint, and hibiscus tea at cafe, and on way out, drank Asab El Sokar (sugarcane juice), all in Khan Khalili! He was great in helping me find the deals that I wanted while shopping too!!!
Crazy driving in Cairo/Giza, but we felt so safe with Yosef, our driver! Truly an experience! This was our second tour day with them both at our request! Thanks Emo for sending them our way!

Since we would be reaching Cairo at 6 a.m. and it would have been impossible for us to start the tour at 9 a.m. with a 1 year old, we contacted Emo Tours beforehand to arrange for the tour to start at 12 p.m. instead. They were happy to do this (at no additional cost), which allowed us to have the full day tour at our convenience, thus not losing 1 day of sight-seeing! We kept the Bazaar for last as it's open until late at night. We enjoyed our tour but were a little bit disappointed with the Museum as many artifacts are being / have been moved to the new Museum. It however remains a wonderful place to visit and our guide made this all the more interesting with snippets of information and things that we would otherwise have missed.

This was a very full day and Abdul made it worth while! He was so full of knowledge about the citadel and the artifacts in the museum and took his time explaining when I had questions. He took me for an amazing lunch and we enjoyed some hookah and Egyptian tea as well. Abdul also helped me shop at the bizarre and got me a deal! The food was the highlight but Abdul was a a close second :)
