Itinerary
- 1At 7.00 am, You will leave your hotel, and our guide will pick you up by the air conditioned private vehicle to Alexandria (approx. 3 – 3.30 Hrs. Driving) and upon arrival to the Pearl of Mediterranean “Alexandria”. You will explore the spectacular sights of the city. Starting with Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa , This sight is considered as one of the wonders of the Middle Ages. It resembles the largest burial site dating from the Greco-Roman period. Discovered in Alexandria, a particularly interesting city of antiquity, it was no surprise that what was hidden in the underground burial tunnels for centuries was a blend of different ancient arts and cultures.

He found a great balance between giving factual historical information, and also having a casual conversation about life. I had a very relaxed and fun day. He uses a favor here and there to get you smoothly through the day. Discuss with him whether you like to see papyrus and perfume shops or not. Wish him all the best!Written 4 November 2024

- Dan D0 contributionsGreat guide, knowledgeable, helpful and funny.Firstly - if you’re planning to do anything in or around Cairo and the Giza complex, whether solo or in a group, you need a guide. Most importantly a guide will help deter the many vendors that will approach you, some of whom can be pretty persistent. But also a good guide will help you avoid being charged ‘tourist prices’ for everything. But more than that a good guide will help you get the most out of your experience, and that’s what I got with Mohamed Fayed. Mohamed really knows a lot about Egyptian history both ancient and modern, and this really added to the tours. He showed me around the Giza pyramids and Sphinx on day 1 and took me around Saqqara and Memphis on day 2. He was so helpful. There is a LOT to see on both tours and Mohamed helped streamline the visit, and also minimise our time in the sun - which is a real bonus if you’re as pale as I am! Mohamed also has a great sense of humour which really added to my enjoyment of the tour. And he knows where to get a really good falafel! Thank you Mohamed for helping make my visit so memorable.Written 31 August 2024
- 39rickeya0 contributionsExploring the wonders of Cairo with Mohamed. This was the first trip to Egypt for me and my wife and we were absolutely thrilled with our guide, Mr. Mohamed Samy Fayed. Mohamed greeted us warmly and gave us information about the surrounding neighborhoods as we made our way to the pyramids. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and asked us fun questions pertaining to the pyramids throughout the tour. Mohamed was also extremely helpful while interacting with vendors, giving us suggestions on what vendors and items to avoid. He also made sure we had water during our visit and brought us an umbrella to use under the relentless August sun. For lunch, he brought us to the only restaurant on the pyramid grounds and my wife and I had a romantic lunch overlooking the pyramids. After some fun pictures at the sphinx, we were brought to a local scent shop where they hand press perfumes, oils, and lotions from ancient recipes. I was so excited because the scents were amazing and like nothing I have ever smelled before! We brought a mix of scents to bring back home and were 100% happy with our purchase. On the other side of the shop is a spice and candied date shop. We felt that the spices and dates were overpriced and suggest asking very clear and specific questions about pricing before purchasing anything from there. Next, Mohamed took us to the National Museum of Egyptian Culture and gave us a tour of the top portion, filling us in on important historical pieces, and explaining the incorporation of Christian and Muslim cultures. Afterwards he let my wife and I explore the mummy exhibit and that was one of the most amazing experiences we had on the trip! It's mind boggling that ancient Egyptians perfected the art of mummification and modern technology has yet to replicate it. There are several mummies to view, including the impressive Ramesses II and members of his family. Our last stop of the day was at a papyrus shop, where they hand pressed and made their own papyrus. We were given a demonstration of this process and picked out some pieces for ourselves and family. A lesson learned is always ask for pricing - they stated they would write our names on the pieces we picked out but did not include that there was a price associated with this. We paid slightly more than we anticipated but were overall happy with our purchase there. Later on that week we had another tour with Mohamed where he took us on a tour of old Cairo and several holy sights. We visited the first Christian church in the world, and viewed the oldest synagogue in Egypt. He then brought us to a 1,200 year old market and bazar where we visited a rather impressive Mosque. He bought us fresh juice and spoke about the history of the region. Afterwards we made our way to the cities oldest coffee shop and Mohamed warned us not to interact with the vendors here, since they were used to tourists. His advice was to not say no, just ignore them completely, and this worked wonderfully! Our last stop of the day was to an Egyptian Cotton store, where they hand make the garments on display. I bought some beautiful galabeya's and my wife purchased several garments. This shop was incredible! The people were friendly, and the quality of the clothes is spectacular! I highly recommend a tour with Mr. Mohamed, as his knowledge of the area and care and compassion for his guests is top notch! One thing that stuck out to me is that he still carries a sense of awe and wonder about the mysteries of the land. His heart is truly in his work, and he delivered a top notch experience. A sincere thank you, Mohamed, and we hope to see you again!!!Written 27 August 2024
