The trek follows the original wartime trail and includes all sites of military significance during the Kokoda campaign. The itinerary allows a visit to Lake Myola and camp at Bombers Campsite which is the best site along the trail – the only one with a hot shower! We also trek across to the eastern side of the range that was defended by the 53rd and 2/16th Battalions. The trek includes a solemn Dawn Service involving trekkers and our PNG guides and carriers at the Isurava Memorial. This service is regarded as the highlight of the Kokoda trek experience.

      UNFORGETTABLE
We completed the Premium Kokoda Campaign Trek. Provided you have done some training this trek will be enjoyable. We were so lucky to have Reg Yates as our tour guide. He is an expert on everything military including tactics, equipment and provided great commentary on the battles as we visited the sites. Reg was able to guide us to memorials that could have been so easily missed, making the trek so much more memorable. One of the treks highlights was Reg’s organization of a moving dawn service at Isurava. The carriers were our angels, they assisted us over some difficult terrain and were always there to help when we struggled. They also supported us in camp with hot meals and the best places to replenish water. Adventure Kakoda and the camaraderie within the entire group made this trek so much more than a walk along the Kakoda track, it also made a long list of memories that will stay with me for life

An outstanding, professional, impactful, military historical adventure! Must do!
Outstanding trek with an amazing well organized, professional company with an even better tour leader Scott Babbington. Those interested in soaking up the history, the impact, the memories, then THIS IS the tour company to use. First class experience also knowing the local PNG folk are supported as well. A genuinely wonderful experience - thank you!

Bloody hard but worth every second
We expected a tough trek and it was that. No surprised there. It was this that made it so rewarding. Great support from the Adventure Kokoda team. The PNG support team were amazing. The porters were there at every turn. If you are looking for a holiday then this isn’t it. If you are looking to get the full kokoda experience then this is for you. Reg our trek leader has so much knowledge of the history and intimate awareness of the region and the people as a whole. We were blessed to be with him. A truly rewarding experience crossing the line in kokoda

      Adventure of a lifetime!
I recently completed the history trek with Adventure Kokoda with Peter Morrison as our trek leader. It was the most challenging, brutal, beautiful rewarding thing I’ve ever done and would strongly recommend this company to anyone planning on doing this. Peter’s knowledge/passion of the war history was outstanding and his story telling was mesmerising. He is also one of the nicest worldly people you will ever meet which made the days easier and more enjoyable as he’ll chat to you about all sorts and makes you feel comfortable every step of the way. It’s also very clear he’s loved by all the villages we passed through. I brought my 14yo son with me and the support he was given was amazing. His personal carrier Rex was with him every step of the way either behind him holding his pack down steep descents or sliding down rocks or cutting through the jungle to get in front to help him down hard and dangerous parts. We also both have coeliac disease which was accommodated for with a variety of different options. This was well above my expectations and would 💯 use them again if I ever go again.

Adventure Kokoda: Kokoda Airstrip to Owers Corner in 8 days
I've just (2 weeks ago) completed the Kokoda Track with the most amazing bunch of people. 18 trekkers in all, 2 guides, plus personal porters totalling 20 and all the amazing crew behind the scenes who fed us well, set up our tents and kept us moving. Adventure Kokoda really excelled at logistical management, quality equipment and support staff (guides, porters, welcome staff - everyone!). Our two guides, Peta in the lead and Brody as 2IC were amazing. Especially as they've both only done the trek themselves a few times. And whilst Peta has no military training or background, her research and sharing of quite a few accounts along the trek, really brought it alive and gave us more than a few moments of pause as we considered incredible acts of bravery and sacrifice. Over the course of the 8 days we walked in the footsteps of giants. Giants of men who at the time had no idea of the future they were forging for the rest of us. ANZAC Day will have a new meaning for me now. I’ve stood in the exact spot where young men sacrificed their lives so that others could preserve theirs. do know that at some stage I will do the trek again – from Owers Corner back to Kokoda and I will absolutely choose Adventure Kokoda when I do. I feel incredibly privileged to have been able to take this journey with some incredible people and I feel that I’ve been on somewhat of a pilgrimage, rather than just a bloody hard slog of a trek. These memories are forever forged and I have a much deeper understanding and appreciation for those who embodied the principles of Courage, Mateship, Sacrifice and Endurance back in 1942. Thank you to Adventure Kokoda and especially to Peta, Brody and the rest of the crew. And finally to my little mate Guyford, who kept me upright more than a few times and was my shadow when I needed it the most. Quite simply, this has been the trip of a lifetime.

      Unforgettable 8 days
We completed Adventure Kokoda’s 8 day trek led by Peter Morrison in August 2024. It was an amazing experience, that challenged us both physically and mentally. Peter was the absolute best.. he demonstrated his passion and respect for the history of the trail everyday, and went above and beyond in numerous ways. The local people, being the group and personal carriers, were a major highlight for us. Highly, highly recommend! Our only issue with the tour, was how we were treated on day 1, prior to leaving for the airport, by one of the Adventure Kokoda staff, Donald (who we were later informed is actually one of the senior staff members in the organisation). We were told we had 3 hours to pack and get organised (as we were on the 2nd flight of the day), however, about 20 minutes later we were told we were departing in 10 minutes. A few minutes later, as we were rushing around, packing our bags as quickly as possible, we had Donald at our hotel room door shouting at us, quite aggressively. We understand circumstances change quickly in PNG, however, Donald would do well to remember who the customer is. This experience left quite a sour taste in our mouths. Overall we had a great experience. The people, the beautiful scenery and the rich history will be something we will remember forever.

      Amazing experience
Hiking the Kokoda Track was such an amazing experience. I would highly recommend Adventure Kokoda, from Tracie who was super helpful with the booking and all the pre-trek organization, to Peter our passionate guide and all the local PNG staff and trekking crew who looked after us so incredibly well. The trek itself was very physically and mentally challenging, with steep, slippery technical terrain and long days. Learning the military history of the track, first-hand, was very emotional. Peter did a superb job of relating all the stories of the Kokoda campaign as we walked through the various battle sites along the trail. His knowledge of the battles and key individuals involved is very impressive. He has a deep passion for and pride in what the soldiers managed to achieve in the Kokoda campaign against overwhelming odds and is equally determined to ensure what they did for Australia is not forgotten. Peter maintained a great rapport with the trekking group and also the support crew and many villagers we met along the way. The trek was brilliantly supported by a large crew of local PNG staff, including senior organizers, carriers, camp organizers, kitchen staff, etc. Our interaction with them was a highlight of the trip. Their physical (and singing!) prowess was so impressive. The moo-moo (apologies spelling there?) on the last night, where the crew cooked up some fresh chickens and sang for us, was one of the highlights of the trip. I engaged a carrier during the trip, which I found incredibly helpful, both in terms of sharing the load and also support down the technical descents. But a number of our team didn't engage carriers - total respect! Would highly recommend this trip with Adventure Kokoda. It is very tough but also so rewarding.

      History Brought to Life
I did the 10 Day trip with Adventure Kokoda from Owen’s Corner to Kokoda, lead by Major Scott Babbington. Scott led a great/enjoyable trek and brought the campaign to life for us, both through an incredible knowledge of what had occurred but also through his passion for the history. I went with some understanding of the campaign and its wider context, but wanted to really get to understand what had occurred and what I was seeing and trekking through. I got this and more from the trip. A highlight for me that I didn’t plan on pre trip was the experience of services at both Brigade Hill and Isurava – these were incredibly moving and there is something very powerful about both these places. If you want to experience, really understand and have time to reflect on Kokoda and what was endured and sacrificed, I would strongly recommend this trip.

      Kokoda Track done well.
I had the honour of trekking with 19 fellow Australians and an Irishman. The trek was lead by Peta and Brody. Two words best describe their leadership of the trek. Passionate and compassion. They were passionate about the challenge, the history and the people of PNG. They were compassionate when dealing with us trekkers, the people of the nation we employed and encountered and most of all to the memory of Australian servicemen and women that fought on the trek. These two individuals should be commended for these attributes and their leadership, well done. Adventure Kokoda ran a well organised trek, that provided flexibility to individuals. They were well organised and can recommend them to future travellers. Glenn Mackenzie. Duty First.

      An Amazing Experience
10 of us went to do the Kokoda Trek and we were very well led and looked after by Adventure Kokoda for the entire trip. The actual trek itself is an amazing experience in and of itself, one that has to be experienced to be believed but there is a big logisitical exercise behind the scenes which Adventure Kokoda handled very professionally. Tracie, Donald and their team do a fantastic job and we always felt like they were 2 steps ahead of us in terms of planning etc. Our trek leader Angelo was very knowledgeable on the historical aspects of the trek and provided great insights for the entire 8 days. You could sense his passion for Kokoda and what it means to Australians and it was great to have him guide us. All in all, I couldn't recommend Adventure Kokoda more highly and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

      Kokoda, my bucket list adventure.
I found our team leader Kerry Symes very knowledgeable on the Kokoda Trek. He knew all the significant battle sites and about the many battles that were fought. I learned so much about Kokoda from Kerry and the way he presented it with passion and emotion made it a stunning experience. The dawn service at Isurava Memorial was a highlight of the trek. Kerry involved us all in one of the most emotional experiences of my life. I realised throughout the trek if it wasn't for these brave diggers we might not have enjoyed our lives in the way that we have. I would also like to congratulate Kerry and all the Adventure Kokoda crew for their professionalism and care. I would recommend anyone wishing a Kokoda experience to go no further than your company Adventure Kokoda. Regards Andy Teni

      Kokoda 2024
From the time of the first briefing, Jesse was upfront, honest and lead with confidence and compassion. We experienced a raft of emotions as we trekked, recounted the history and battled our own shortcomings. I would recommend training harder than you think, and to leave yourself a treat at the half-way drop (like TimTams). The trek is a worthy adversary - it's a powerful and moving experience and if it weren't so hard then perhaps it wouldn't have meant so much.

      Amazing Adventure Kokoda Trek
I had an amazing experience trekking with Adventure Kokoda. Dave Sherry our trek leader was a combination of everything great: over 40 treks; great style / leadership working with the trekkers and porters; amazing knowledge of the battlefields and the villages and a real passion about what he is doing and what it means. On the trail it all worked seamlessly. The porters were great, kind and so knowledgeable and knew the track and supported you as needed. The extra day up in the Myola area was a huge highlight and gave you time to be there and not have to move on each day. We had great weather there (although cool nights - 5 cold nights in total). Early starts and long days of walking and physically challenging was to be expected. The group supported each other and we had a lot of fun with Dave and ourselves. This was not a 'gung ho' group and Dave fitted into what the group needed pace and support wise. There were plenty of 'battlefield briefings' which I wanted and read up on. Being there was everything to try and get your head around what our soldiers and wounded had to deal with. Adventure Kokoda's many decades of running treks and their connections in the villages and key areas were evident and reassuring. I am celiac and therefore gluten free, and this was generally catered for well. I did bring my own breakfast on advice. The food in general is basic and plenty of it. Everything was set up for us, there was undercover eating areas and drying areas, the toilets were better than expected, green normal looking toilets with a big hole underneath. Each camp had a stream nearby to wash in. Just prepare properly, have newish very good boots, not cheap walking poles and practice with them. Walking down hill was the big challenge for most in the mud. So just dont practice up hill. Dont put it off. We had half our party of 8 over 60 and we all made it. Prepare and respect the walk. Enjoy.

An extraordinary adventure well managed from my first contact with the company right through until the end. Very professional. The Kokoda Track is difficult and we were provided with training tips and all the information to be ready well in advance to give sufficient time to train..
On the track we were led by Major Scott Babington, who's passion and knowledge of the Kokoda track history and battles was unbelievable. I had read the books and while they describe what happened, Scott provided the why and how and it felt like we travelled with the battalions along the way, understanding what our diggers did, and also the Papuan people and their vital role. The countryside is beautiful, the walking tough and be prepared to be wet. River crossings, walking through swamp and climbing up and down steep terrain through the most pristine mountain ranges. On arrival at camp the tents were set up and meals generally ready, don't expect hot water, but collapsing in a stream at the end of the day was great.
There were inevitable delays both in travel and on the track, all just taken in stride and alternative plans made. A delay to a flight to Kokoda from Pt Moresby, no problem, jump in a mini bus and we will show you some of Pt Moresby.
We saw other trekkers along the track, and I believe that Adventure Kokoda offers the best option, the Papuan porters enjoy working for this company, and Adventure Kokoda are respected at every village.
My advice if you choose to do this, follow the tips given, train hard , be prepared and travel with Adventure Kokoda.
Thank you to Scott, Tracie and the entire Adventure Kokoda team.

Such a rewarding experience. We were always in good hands and Adventure Kokoda have been doing this long enough now to have the process sorted. We knew months in advance what we needed to do to prepare and what equipment we needed to have. Our guide and PNG porters were exceptional. No matter how exhausting the walk we took time to learn about the villagers life and culture. Most importantly was the war history we were taught from our guide Peter and for us to honour our soldiers as we walked kept us going.
Beautiful creek crossings and scenery along the way. Dawn service at memorial at Isuava was moving.
