About
Adventure Kokoda 10-Day Premium Campaign trek is the complete package. The trek follows the original wartime trail and includes all sites of military significance during the Kokoda campaign – battlesites, patrol tracks, major logistic areas Lake Myola and fire support bases. The itinerary includes two nights at Bombers campsite which allows trekkers to spend a day exploring both Myola lakes and inspecting the American P40 Kittyhawk fighter aircraft that crashed on the northern edge of the lakes. Trekkers return to Bombers campsite for a late lunch and a ‘make-and-mend’ afternoon in the glorious tranquillity of the Moss Forest. The trek includes a solemn Dawn Service involving trekkers and our PNG guides and carriers at the Isurava Memorial. This service is regarded as the highlight of the Kokoda trek experience.

      Kokoda Trek October 2023
The trip leaders Jake Leske and Brody Murray did a wonderful job getting us through what was no doubt the greatest physical challenge I’ve ever experienced, with constant rain, mud, landslides and dodgy creek crossings to overcome.

Hardest thing I’ve ever done. 100% Recommend
Such a rewarding experience. We were always in good hands and Adventure Kokoda have been doing this long enough now to have the process sorted. We knew months in advance what we needed to do to prepare and what equipment we needed to have. Our guide and PNG porters were exceptional. No matter how exhausting the walk we took time to learn about the villagers life and culture. Most importantly was the war history we were taught from our guide Peter and for us to honour our soldiers as we walked kept us going. Beautiful creek crossings and scenery along the way. Dawn service at memorial at Isuava was moving.

      Kokoda Trail October 2023
We completed the Kokoda trail with trek leader Jake Leske and 2IC Brody Murray from 03/10/23 - 12/10/23. It was a fantastic adventure. Learned heaps about the battle history of Kokoda and would highly recommend the trek with Adventure Kokoda to anybody that is thinking about doing it. The porters are absolutely amazing and are with you every step of the journey. Good was good and the views are awesome. Do yourself a favour and book this trip of a lifetime!

Adventure Kokoda History Trek - what a truly amazing adventure it was!
Absolutely loved the Adventure Kokoda 8 day history trek! I cannot thank our trek leader, PNG porters & all the Adventure Kokoda staff enough for making it such a fantastic experience. Our leader Peter Morrison was so knowledgeable - he ensured we got a true understanding & appreciation of the conditions that were faced, the resilience shown, & mate-ships formed. My PNG porter Rex was an absolute superstar - not only carrying my pack, but answering all my questions, educating me on his life, & encouraging me when things got really tough. Thanks Rex!! The Kokoda track itself is epic - physically & emotionally challenging, but so rewarding and such an experience. I feel privileged to have almost made it and hope to get another chance to compete those last few days! I was unfortunately forced off the track with 3 days left due to injury. However, from the moment it happened, I was in the best of hands. The PNG medic & porters swung into action, getting me safely down the mountain to our campsite for the night. Our trek leader, PNG representative & Aus-based AK staff ensured a medi-vac was arranged for the first available time. Choppered out safely, I was transported to the International Hospital by another AK staff member (Helen), who also stayed with me whilst I was seen by the Doctor. But it didn't end there, the AK Moresby based staff continued to check on me, looking after me while I was recovering (thanks again Helen & Donald!). Despite the pain I was in, I always felt like everything was 100% under control and I was cared for in the best possible manner. Highly recommend Adventure Kokoda & hope the get another chance at those last 3 days in future!

      Adventure of a lifetime!
I had the best time trekking with Adventure Kokoda. Everything ran smoothly with transfers to/from the hotel and track, and the accommodation in Port Moresby was clean and comfortable. The effort they go to to organise food supplies that not only last the whole trek, but also cater to the groups requirements is just wonderful. All the local PNG staff - the Porters, cooks, equipment carriers etc were absolutely outstanding with how they helped and cared for each and every one of us. This kind of experience would not be possible without them. The cherry on top was the insight into the history of the Kokoda campaign that was shared with us by our trek leader Peter. The emotion and passion he conveyed when retelling stories and reciting poetry added so much more to the overall experience. He helped me walk away with a greater understanding and appreciation for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for us and our country. I would highly recommend trekking with Adventure Kokoda to anyone who is wanting the full Kokoda experience.

If the opportunity is given to you to go and do the Kokoda trail make the most of it and seize the opportunity.
This was the best experience I have ever had and I would do it again in a heart beat. My favorite part of the experience was going to the different villagers and getting to know everyone. When ever my friends or family ask me what I did over there I always wonder where to start. My favorite memories which I am always sharing was day three when I was with a few others and we were playing down ball with the village kids. One of the little girls was so gorgeous, the only word she could say in English was awesome. My porter Jeffery was so friendly and was always there when I needed him. I'm a bit of cluts so it was so good to have extra hand.

      Trip of a life time
I went on the trek in July with leader Dave Sherry, a few groups of trekkers had come together to make this a very large group of 27. Whilst i had my doubts about the size of the group getting along and stretching out along the track, it was soon put to rest as everyone got to know each other, set a nice comfortable pace and were there to help each other when needed. Dave (with a little help from 2ic Chris) had the total respect of all trekkers, porters and guides from start to finish, he's knowledge of the events that happened along the trail and he's ability to present them at certain spots along the trail were spot on. The way he presented his poems, were second to none. Plenty of photos and memories were made, and I will forever be grateful. So a big thankyou to all at Adventure Kokoda, Tracie, Donald, Helen and all support staff. For me, I just wanted to experience walking the trail, but have come away with so much more including the respect I have for those who went before us. The only thing I would like to suggest is that there is a bit more communication from the admin to the trekkers in the months leading up to the trek, even if it's just a quick check in to put minds at ease! I would highly recommend Adventure Kokoda for your trip across the Kokoda Track, Jamie O'Dea

      A first class experience!
Excellent trip, everything went very smoothly. Dave Sherry was a great trek leader, very informative on the history and empathetic (indeed waxing poetic) on the diggers' experience and also an excellent, wise and kind leader of our group. AK take very good care of the local porters, checking they were not overloaded and anxious as to their arrangements in camp. The food is camping food but well prepared and hygiene etc was excellent. It was very nice to have someone else pitch and strike the tents ever day after a long time walking. I travelled with my 16 years old and he was made very welcome and supported as well. Kokoda can be pretty intimidating before hand and I feel we made a really good choice of company.

Kokoda physically demanding, and emotionally challenging
Without a doubt an experience to be remembered, physically demanding, and emotionally challenging. The support crew and trek leaders were excellent, our carriers were quietly "ever-present", always ready to help, catch before you hit the ground, and willing to let you into their lives in the quiet moments on the track. If you're wanting a challenge that will have you contemplating the history of WW11, the sacrifice, and extraordinary human feats in terrain that is truly remarkable this trek is the one.

      Experience of a lifetime
Completing the Kokoda Trail has been a life long goal of mine, and to do this with Adventure Kokoda has been the experience of a lifetime. Our trek leader, Peter Morrison, was absolutely brilliant. Providing detailed information along the trek on the Kokoda campaign, and always finishing off with a wartime poem, made this trek an emotional rollercoaster. To see the harsh environment and hear the wartime stories of our brave troops and PNG carriers is something I will never forget. To complete the trail with my daughter, best friends and a great trekking group made this a very special experience. I cannot recommend Adventure Kokoda more highly as a trekking company. All aspects of the trek were very well organised and ran very smoothly. All staff including the carriers, cooks and porters were brilliant, and the food prepared on the trail was great. I would highly recommend Adventure Kokoda to anyone who is considering doing the trek.

Walking Kokoda - a challenging, experience
My choice to walk the Kokoda trail with Adventure Kokoda was based on recommendations from friends who'd previously travelled with them and it was an excellent decision. Our trek leader, Peter Morrison, provided our group with interesting accounts of significant battles, stories (and poetry) from the soldiers which helped us to better understand the horrific conditions these soldiers (and the locals) endured. The support crew were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they shared their personal stories about their lives which made for a more authentic experience. Moreover, Adventure Kokoda treat their crew with respect, a fair wage & inclusiveness, all of which were important considerations for me. From beginning to end, it was an outstanding trekking experience and nothing missed a beat. We did see other trekking groups along the trail and in my opinion, good though they possibly were, the decision to go with Adventure Kokoda was the best decision I made.

I had a wonderful experience walking the Kokoda Trail with Adventure Kokoda. On so many levels it was a trip of a life time, not least of which was the physical challenge of negotiating significant mountain ascents and descents that required careful preparation over a number of months; there was the actual beauty of the countryside we traversed with panoramic views and the sublimity of the moss forests; then of course there was the privilege of visiting key places in our military history that reinforced the ANZAC tradition.

I thought the whole venture was extremely well organised by Adventure Kokoda from pre-trail information and advice, our reception, our stop overs in Port Moresby, to the day to day administration of campsites and sustenance, and porterage support, which all contributed to our successful negotiation of the Trail.

I would particularly highlight the work done by the PNG support staff who were irrepressible and committed to our safety and well being. The administration throughout was second to none. The support staff made everything appear very smooth at key intersections in the event. Rowan Tracey, our tour leader, provided a light hand on the tiller to ensure we were always able to reach our objectives for each day and along the way providing in depth accounts of the fighting that had occurred at key locations along the trail eighty years ago. And a special thanks to my porter Joel Norman who was with me every step of the way.

This trek was something that I have planned for 3 years and I didn't disappoint me. While it was physically tough and days 2 and 3 were very demanding, my appreciation of what our Diggers and porters went through in 1942 is very, very high. Despite being damp most of the time, I never let it affect my mental toughness. Our leaders were knowledgeable, especially Fiona, who organized all the tasks around camp and was a tower of strength. Reg's knowledge of the campaign is amazing. The service at Isurava battlefield was emotional, especially when the porters sang their native songs and the PNG National Anthem. It was great that Reg and Fiona organized each of us to read a poem or verse at the different memorials. What I saw of other trekking companies' performance on the trail left me in no doubt that Adventure Kokoda is the company to do the trail with.

As a Veteran, I can honestly say I was honoured to walk in the footsteps of the warriors that went before me. Adventure Kokoda provided the experience that walking such a track deserves. Our Trek Leader Peter Morrison was genuinely invested in the experience, and he knows the history like the back of his hand. He could recite poems straight from the heart, and you could tell the passion he has for the history of Kokoda. He will also tell you what you want to hear to make you feel better :), (CDC). Adventure Kokoda provided all the information around what to take, which was a huge help. Donald, Tracie and the team were accommodating to the needs of each individual trekker. The company sets the standard for ensuring that the "fuzzy Wuzzy angels" are looked after. They show genuine care for them, paying them what they are worth and more. They are seen to also contribute funds to the local villages so that the campsites are well maintained. If you're looking for a walking holiday, DON'T chose Kokoda. It's a journey that requires you to train and be mentally strong everyday of your experience. The Aventure Kokoda team go above and beyond to ensure you take in as much as you can along the trail and ensure you have a tent ready for your arrival. The porters are the way to go as it provides Adventure Kokoda the opportunity to employee locals from all along the track trail. They are right behind you when you need them and always looking out for you. Don't be scared to get to know all the locals that are trekking with you, as they are great people, and your trip can be made a whole lot better if you build the relationships along the way. Our group killed it and made sure we all were entertained if we were having a bad day. Couldn't fault anything about the trip if I tried. 100% Adventure Kokoda is the way to go. JW

A terrific but exhausting trek through the PNG jungle following the old wartime trek. Adventure Kokoda certainly made the experience both memorable and emotional. Our trek leader, Rowan, was a font knowledge on the Kokoda campaign helped bring history to life. The administration was faultless and all Adventure Kokoda staff were a pleasure to deal with. The local support were equally supportive and went beyond to ensure we had an experience to remember. I have now trekked with Adventure Kokoda twice and have absolute confidence in recommending them to anyone looking to tackle what will be an adventure of a lifetime.

This was the best adventure I have ever undertaken, and that was in no small part to Adventure Kokoda and our Trek Leader Scott Babington. Adventure Kokoda takes it's responsibility of taking care of the local porters while supporting the local economy and providing opportunities through external training very seriously and their ethics should be commended. And what can I say about our Trek Leader Scott, his military knowledge and deep understanding of the Kokoda campaign was second to none, he far exceeded expectations and went above and beyond, helping me put the jigsaw pieces together of a relative that was KIA on the trail, he researched late into the night and he was able to figure out (with a good degree of certainty) in what battle and the circumstances that lead up to that battle. I will be forever grateful for this. If you are wanting to do this epic trek, just book it, but then put the training/work in, anyone can complete this but you need to be trek fit to enjoy it and get the most out of it. There are no trails in Aust that can compare to Kokoda, but you can find some to prepare you. Choosing Adventure Kokoda as the company you go with will ensure you extract the best out of this (often) once in a lifetime experience, don't settle for anything less.
Shout out to my fellow trekkers too, you guys made the experience all the better too!

No words can describe this amazing experience. Dave's knowledge of the history of the kokoda trail and his poems immersed us into the hardships the diggers faced. Jake's ongoing encouragement at low points was exactly what was needed to power on and get there. Dave and Jake never gave up on me when the going got tough and that truly made the difference between giving up and getting on with it.
The porters were completely respectful and encouraging. The work these men do for us was amazing and as a woman i never felt uncomfortable in the presence of the porters and guides. They truly are angels watching over our shoulders catching us before we fall. My porter truly did spoil me with making sure i had water at all times and making sure i didnt need for anything. The guides and porters were always good for a laugh or just a chat about their culture.
Highly reccomend Adventure Kokoda from the moment of booking Tracie was a wealth of knowledge and always had time to answer questions. Getting off the plane in PNG being met with friendly smiles of the adventure kokoda staff truly made for a relaxed and easy transition to the hotel. The food along the track was plentiful and we were never left hungry.
If I was ever to trek Kokoda again I would 100% go with Adventure Kokoda again. The extra day to explore plane wrecks was something I've not seen any other company offer and made for an amazing extra experience.

My trek lead by Scott was very good. The whole team at Adventure Kokoda did a fantastic job. We had some visa troubles leading upto the trip but they were in contact daily with updates for us, Thank you, Tracie, for that.

We had no issues while we were in PNG and it was impressive to see just how much of a logistic organization it is just to get a few trekkers through the kokoda trail. All the porters they use are very nice and friendly.

Our trek Leader Scott was very impressive, he has been a part of the defence force for most of his life and has a passion for re telling the stories and facts of what happened over in PNG during the war.

I highly recommend Adventure Kokoda in you plan on doing the Kokoda trail.

A great trek. A great trek leader, Roman Tracey, who I regard as a Kokoda historian. At times an emotional journey. The views from the mountains are spectacular. The afternoon swims in rivers and creeks therapeutic. The support crew were very caring and had a high regard for our safety. (The spirit of the Fuzzy Wuzzy angels lives on).
I highly recommend this trek for anyone who wishes to gain a clearer understanding of the Kokoda campaign.

My trip with Adventure Kokoda was more than 20 years in the planning with my good mate Tim (life got in the way) but I am very glad I did it with Adventure Kokoda and with Scott Babington. Scott was well organised, friendly and knowledgeable. The experience of trekking through this part of PNG was like nothing else I have ever experienced.
As a military history nut, I really enjoyed the attention to the events from 1942. Scott was very knowledgeable and was gave us briefs relating the events of 1942 to the ground where we stood. He was exceptionally well prepared and a great bloke to trek with.
Travelling with a team that valued the well-being of the porters and didn't overload them was a very important plus for me. I felt bad having someone else carry part of my gear, but the care and respect that was shown for the porters made that much easier to live with.
We went from South to North (Owers corner to Kokoda) I am glad we went this way - it put us at Isurava on the 2nd last day of the trek. This was the emotional high point of the trip and having a dawn service there was so moving.
Absolutely recommend Adventure Kokoda and Scott Babington in particular.

It was a once in a lifetime experience! The Adventure Kokoda and PNG support team were exceptional. They acted very professional, always happy to give you a hand and were just amazing people full of Historical knowledge. Shoutout to Dave and Jake as our trek leaders, they made the trip!
