We had a private tour from Bogota (about an hour ride to Zipaquira from Bogota). The mine is amazing and loved seeing the cathedral that was built inside. Highly recommend

The Salt Cathedral is very interesting and I'd recommend it to anyone to check out. But I'd think twice doing it with this company. This was literally a driving service and nothing else. And a very expensive one at that. The full ticket to the cathedral costs less than $15 and they charge $51 for this "tour". You can take an Uber or taxi each way for less than $20 which means that 2 visitors going together would save anywhere from $40 to $55 if they organized it themselves. Not to mention there are 50 cent busses to Zipaquira all the time departing from Bogota.
The worst part about this is the padded timing. They drop you off for 30 minutes randomly in Zipaquira town center to get coffee or use the bathroom which makes zero sense - both of these things could very easily be done in the dozens of shops before the Cathedral's entrance and they shouldn't be a mandatory part of this tour by any means. After you're done, they take you to a designated place for lunch - a crappy touristic restaurant and you sit there for AN hour. Note that LUNCH IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS TOUR, so they shouldn't have any business taking you to a pre-designated spot for lunch where there were nothing but tourist buses. They compel you to spend your own money at a restaurant you'd never have picked on your own which is not cool. Your other option is to just wait while others are eating.
Would not recommend. Giving this 3 stars is super generous.

Hello there World Nomad2021, We see that your rating is very unfair regarding our product and service and we respect it but do not share it. From the beginning, we are very clear with the information of what is/not included, the benefits and others that you have with us. Regarding your accounts, I want to add that with us you do not stand in line, you have Biosafety protocols, maps, a driver waiting for you, insurance, confidence that you go and return without problems and a service that supports 24/7. It is a guaranteed and worth service. Also, in your accounts there is only one trip by car and you do not count the return one, that if you multiply (depends of rush hour) it gives you more than our published price, which would not be so viable if one analyzes it. Think also in our comfortable car, less work, security, reliability. Regarding the stops, in the town is just for seeing old houses, churches, plazas, free time (30 mins) and eve we have designed an audio guide to explain sites that are relevant for Zipaquirá and Colombia. We never force you to buy in the stores around the square, but if you do, welcome. Remember that the tourism that we profess speaks of sustainability and one of the areas is the economy in the community, so leaving a few Pesos in the town does not a big issue. Regarding lunch, the Driver always asks if people want to have lunch in Zipaquirá, if any of the tour participants do not want to, they simply return to Bogotá and there is no problem, however, let's remember to leave something in the area. In addition, the drivers recommend several places before going where they went, however, if you arrived at the place and you did not like it, usually one hour is given for you to leave and return. Our philosophy as a company is to always seek happiness, sustainability and quality in services, we hope that next time you can feel it in our tours. Thank you for your comments.

The Salt Cathedral Zipaquira was amazing and definitely worth visiting! However, you honestly do not really need to do the transfer through this company. While it was helpful, the entire Salt Cathedral experience involved us using an audio guide and we self-navigated our group through the cathedral. The tour company only did pick up and drop off from the city and bought the tickets, and I don't think the money was worth it for that. Additionally, although we were told we would have an English-speaking guide, he rode in a different car and while some of our group could communicate with the Spanish-speaking driver, it was not the experience we were expecting. I would recommend finding another way to get out the Zipaquira and buying your own tickets since I didn't see this service adding much value (although all of the people were extremely nice and personable).

Dear Trish Thank you very much for your comment, it is very important for us. Regarding your comment, we always try to adapt the tour to our customers, if they speak English, French, portuguese, etc., our driver is programmed in those languages and will try to do that service. However, this is not 100% (it is not even promised, actually), for that reason, we have developed our own audio guides on the cars and we invite people to become friends with other people who are in the same mood, this makes the trip more enjoyable. Here and anywhere in the world there is nothing better than buying with a good company, even more if the tour is recommended by hundreds of people, it is impossible to compare with an uber or a street transportation that often does not even know of Bogota, nor of tourism or how to handle tourists, while we are experts in this area. Now, if you want to risk (not because it is dangerous, but because it is a lottery) there will always be many options and variations, however we know that we are one of the best, our reputation talks. If you wanted to extend the time in the mine or the town, with us it is possible, you can tell the driver if there is another car on the way and arrange with him/her. Besides you also have internet in the vehicles, you have a person who can tell you about the city, places to go, eat, etc. In addition, we give you a map, you go with day insurance and we are constantly in service 24 hours/7 days. Furthermore, our cars are for tourism, modern, confortable and up-to-date papers. We do not know another company who cares so much about the country's reputation, about your experience and about our work as we do. The exercise of comparing companies and even with street services is excellent, but I can assure you that we fully comply with what we promise. Sometimes more, but never less. Thank you for your comment and we hope to serve next time.

Salt Cathedral is definitely worth visiting however, I'm not sure if booking a group tour added any value. The tour provides transportation to and from Zipaquira but doesn't add much value other than that. The tour guide did mention a few historical facts here and there on our drive to the Catherdral but nothing we couldn't have figured out on our own. The tickets are included in the price so once we got there, the tour guide purchased our tickets and the ticket office gave us all a phone looking device that explained the history and significance of each Cathedral display. The tour guide gave us 2 hours to explore and then meet outside at the meeting time. They then took us to the city center which was about 5 mins drive away and gave us 20 minutes to walk around before heading back. I think we could've planned our time and day better ourselves. The tour was helpful in taking care of the essentials. If I were to redo, I'd rather uber and buy my own ticket to have the flexibly to have lunch and explore the city.

Dear Shakee, We respect your opinion but the tour is much more than you comment. Always in a "new country" that you do not know, it is better to go with a responsable company that can help you step by step always focus on our clients and a high quality experience. We kno that always will be very difficult to meet everyone's expectations, so we try to be very clear in our information (descriptions) you see before buying. If you saw it in advance and you seemed short time at town and cathedral, perhaps our option does not fit you. Now, you would have told us and normally we have another tour that returns around 5pm of the cathedral, in that case you could tell us that you want to stay longer, that´s it. It is a tour that is very punctual, with a standard experience and yet ready to always give you the best. We are the only agency that does not line up in the attraction because we already have commercial agreements and because they have known us for a long time as good workers. Thank you very much for your comment because it will always make us grow.

I almost didn’t do this trip because the reviews were so mixed. So many people said they didn’t understand it and don’t waste your time or money - DON’T LISTEN!

First, the town of Zipaquirá is wonderful. It has a super historic and Spanish feel to it. I loved just wandering around in and out of shops and taking pictures of the architecture! Plus, the lunch in Zipaquirá, recommended by the drivers, was delicious.

Second, the cathedral itself is super impressive, even if you’re not religious. It’s in an old salt mine and the enormous cathedral is carved completely out of salt. How did they do this?? How did they get lights down there? It’s symbolic and impressive to think about how it was all created. It’s also a super unique trip. I’ve been to caves before, but how often do you see an underground cathedral carved completely out of a salt mine?

The audio guide was perfect for this self-guided tour. Pictures don’t even do it justice. Definitely pencil in some time for the Salt Cathedral, you won’t regret it!

thanks so much Alyssa, how good is to listen this kind of comments, the idea is that you always visit the most important of each destination regardless of whether it is very touristy or not, if it is worth it or not, or if it is cheap or not. Each person has a relative perspective and it is very very difficult to guess what the person thinks or wants, there is nothing like trying it out by yourself. We hope you liked it a lot, we had a great time and enjoyed our work every day, we are always trying to improve and I think that is seen in this result (with the comment). Thank you for choosing us and we hope to be your local expert next time.

My adventure to the Salt Cathedral started with a timely pick-up where I’m staying. My guide, Lorenzo, looked familiar as he had sent a greeting and a photo the previous afternoon. As a solo traveler, knowing who to expect is so important. Communicating regarding pick-up location was easy and precise.
The ride out to the Salt Mine was a tour through Bogota and it gives the visitor a better understanding of the challenges of driving here. As a quick aside, we stopped to walk through one if the beautiful residences of Simon Bolivar and on to the mines. No waiting and the long open Salt passages are difficult to describe. The miners have many, many sculptures throughout the mine.
The mine opens to a staggeringly enormous cathedral which defies description. Lorenzo filled in all the historic details. (Do stop for a local lunch.)
At the end of the trip you will have an opportunity to purchase for yourself, an emerald to always remind you of this wonderful adventure. I couldn’t resist a beautiful and very well priced 18K gold and emerald necklace!
Thanks Lorenzo!

Hi Cesar, you are talking about the salt Cathedral...yes, between the first and second religious stations there is a sulfur smell, however it usually is medicinal and just for a few moment. At the end, you have a beautiful Cathedral into a mine. We have been tons of times and always we are surprised. So good you have enjoyed our private tour and our services itself, you already have new friends in Colombia.

Thanks Vivca, The weather in the salt cathedral is similar to Bogota, around 14 Celcius, so is better to be with a good jacket just in case. In general, the attraction is so good, besides skipping line is perfect when you don´t have time. Stay close to us, we have the best options in the city. Welcome again, Pass team
