- sophieaB9381GI0 contributionsThank you!Thank you so much! Climbing Huayna Potosí was the most challenging but amazing thing I have ever done. Huge shout out to my guide, Iván, as I would not have made it to the top without him! Muchas gracias!Written 18 November 2024
- elisevI5304QD0 contributions3 days Huayna Potosi - best experience ever!We had an amazing experience with our tour guide on the mountain, Ivan Guia! His English was excellent, he motivate us, and he even took photos of us. Thanks to him, we both reached the top of the mountain on time! Most importantly, we felt safe the entire time. Definitely a 10 out of 10!Written 29 October 2024
- Sunshine049082641710 contributionsThe trek of a lifetime! We had an incredible trip to Huayna Potosi with Jiwaki. All of the guides were dedicated to making our trip run smoothly, be on time, be safe and most importantly, be fun! Ivan guided us on the summit climb with patience and expertise. We could tell he knew the mountain well. Our group of approx 14 hikers bonded right away and we were a supportive team throughout the 3 days. We were well fed, had adequate accommodation, gear and training to give us the best chance of reaching the summit. Do take the acclimatization period seriously before starting this trek and do bring or take Diamox (easily purchased at pharmacies all over La Paz) because it can make or break your trip. For someone interested in doing a hard climb up a glacier to a beautiful summit, this is your best bet at achieving it!Written 15 October 2024
- Mo_Mortazavi0 contributionsRewarding but very challenging hike!! 🗻I recently did the 3 day hike to Huayna Potosi at the start of October. I didn’t know what to expect and in some ways I was underprepared for how challenging both mentally and physically the hike was. However, in the end I managed it and was rewarded with some stunning views. Jiwaki is a fantastic agency to do it with, providing good accommodation at both base camps and lovely food as fuel for the hike. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this without the help of my excellent guide Ivan, who communicated in perfect English and Spanish, was always positive and ensured my safety was paramount throughout. Would highly recommend but be prepared for one of the hardest challenges you’ll face, in particular the last night/day.Written 8 October 2024
- W7719XXmichaelp0 contributionsAmazing tour but toughThe tour to Huayna Potosi was great! Everything was organized well, food was great but most important our guide Ivan was the best! He helped us to summit right at sunrise. We always felt secure and he made the tour even better.Written 6 October 2024
- donghenam0 contributionsOut of this world experienceI could not fault Jiwaki and their guides for this unforgettable life defining experience. Johnny was a great experienced leader and kept us informed with all we needed to know at each briefing; detailed and very professional. Don't be fooled... It is physically challenging. Many say it is the most challenging experience in their lives. Spend time to acclimatise in La Paz. Eat well, sleep well, and with a bit of physical and mental fortitude, you'll make it to the top.Written 10 September 2024
- LiveLife10980 contributionsPotosí 3 day tour with WillyEarlier this year in May me and a friend joined the 3 day Huayna Potosí tour. The trip was absolutely excellent and our guides made us feel extremely safe and capable of doing the tour. On summit day my friend got altitude sickness but our guide, Willy, handled the situation perfectly! He made sure my friend was ok but never made too much of a big deal out of it and ensured my friend summited safely without panicking him. He kept spirits and morale high the whole time. Would 100% recommend this tour!Written 28 August 2024
- 927kaneb0 contributionsHighly recommendWe had an incredible experience with Jawiki on our Huayna Potosí hike. The whole crew was fantastic, ensuring everyone made it to the top. 100% successes rate, which is rare. They split the group so there was a guide for every two people, which made the climb much more manageable. A huge shoutout to our guide Ivan—he’s an absolute legend and his support made all the difference. Gaby at the reception was very helpful, and the equipment provided was warm and of high quality. The food throughout the hike was excellent, and their timing was impeccable; we reached the summit just in time for sunrise, unlike other companies who missed this spectacular moment. It was a crazy experience with views on top that are truly unmatched. Highly recommend Jawiki for their professionalism and dedication!Written 21 August 2024
- 445fwd0 contributionsAwesome trip! For the summit, the group was divided and each couple and individual received their own guide. I also received a guide (Juan) who helped me enormously. He was calm, helpful and regularly asked how I was feeling. He was experienced and knew when I needed my rest. He was also very honest. Safety was his number 1 priority. He regularly took photos during the climb. Now that I see these photos again, I am very happy. They turned out to be fantastic photos. Jiwaki has helped me and the group tremendously from the start at the Base Camp. Because we had been ice climbing and mounteneering instructions for a day, they were able to properly assess where everyone was physically. The food was great and the accommodation was simple but nice and cozy. It was an experience I will never forget!Written 6 August 2024
- K4197CLmarkm0 contributionsThank you Jose!Amazing experience, the equipment was really good and was visibly better than other tour companies. We can't thank our guide Jose enough, he went above and beyond to make the experience everything we could have hoped for. He helped us with everything over the full 3 days. I would highly recommend asking for Jose if you do the tour!Written 7 July 2024
- 618leoniew0 contributionsHuayna Potosi in 3 daysGreat experience to hike the Huayna Potosi with Jiwaki! Good equipment and great organization! The food was delicious, shoutout to José and Valerio! Loved the pancakes 😍 Also the guides did a great job to bring almost everyone to the summit, thanks also here to William - I would do it again haha As a solo traveler I felt safe and I can highly recommend the 3 days - for acclimation in the altitude, the training with the crampons/the equipment and having a great time with your group in a fantastic scenery!Written 19 June 2024

I went up with guide Iván and he managed to perfectly judge the level of me and my climb buddy and made the chalenge to get to the top a fun experience by taking foto's and making jokes along the way.Written 18 May 2024
- N4425HUzacharym0 contributionsSafe and reliableWe got paired with Jiwaki through our hostel and overall I would say they were excellent. The english was really good from all of our guides. My partner and I got paired with Ivan and he made for a great guide for us going up the mountain (and helped us get to the top!). Pedro was also an excellent guide lead and was very good at laying out the plans for everyone and also having a great sense of humour. The equipment they rented us was mostly good, however we had some issues with our sleeping bags that only became apparent on the last night of our 3 day hike (the coldest night). Overall though I would recommend this company!Written 2 May 2024

I had been advised to go with Jiwaki for the Huayna Potosi hike and I see why they came so highly recommended. From start to finish they were incredible. They are very professional and safe. The guides are very skilled, patient and client safety is very important to them. The equipment is excellent, I suffer from the cold and was warm in all their gear. The food was incredible, so much food! I managed to make it to the summit thanks to the help of my guide William. He was so patient with the group. Thanks to Jiwaki and William for an unforgettable experience. I would definitely go with this group, even if you find a cheaper tour as the equipment is excellent. Jiwaki are very competitively and fairly priced also.

These guys are new in the game but their equipment and service is impeccable. Franz the owner explained all the details to us in person and didn't leave anything out.
Would recommend doing the 3 day climb as the first day on the ice wall sounds like a lot of fun.
The guides on the climb were great (they don't speak much English though - none really do). They motivated us to get to the top and made sure we got enough rest stops.
You are (as with any company) attached in pairs to a guide.
The hike itself is tough but worth the effort to reach that 6088m summit. We were there in November and didn't get much of a view but those the day after did.
Refuge and food were comfortable and copious.
In summary, great service and would recommend.

Well organised, professional and safe. Food was quite good considering the remoteness of the location. For those less fit or having difficulties acclimatising, try the three day tour instead.

Just finished the two-day Huyana Potosi trek. It was an amazing experience and there is nothing that I would like to be changed in the future. My guide, Iban, was the best guide that I could have ever wished for.

I had a wonderful time with my guide Ovidio on the 2 day Huayna Potosi climb. Ovidio was always very patient and friendly. Without him it would have been much harder to reach the top.
Jiwaki is a good agency with good equipment and tasty food in the refugios.
All of this for a very good price

We decided on a 2-day tour of Huayna Potosi with Jiwaki because of the low price and the good reviews and were very satisfied with the organization, accommodation (basic shared room), condition of the equipment (e.g. Petzl crampons and helmet), food and the tour itself. However, we would like to point out at this point that although the guides are trained mountain guides, they do not have internationally recognized certificates (in our experience, a UIAGM guide can be requested for $100 a day, but contrary to our hopes, this did not add any additional benefit in terms of safety and the climb) and often give the impression that the climb is not dangerous. There is hardly any mention of acute altitude sickness here (although participants often suffer from serious altitude sickness), and no questions are asked about preparation, acclimatization or previous experience. Of course, Huayna Potosi is one of the easier 6000m peaks, but it is still a high-altitude tour that requires at least basic experience on the glacier, as some passages have to be climbed or are very narrow and steep. Good physical fitness and sufficient acclimatization (at least a week above 3500-4000m) are also definitely necessary.
Unfortunately, during the ascent, our guides hardly took the needs and different levels of the participants into account and did not choose the ascent tactics particularly wisely (e.g. rest areas, paying attention to other groups and the narrow passages).
In our opinion (we already have experience of high-altitude tours and are trained high-altitude physicians), the ascent is often taken too lightly. Beginners to high-altitude tours in particular should weigh up the risks carefully and, if necessary, start with easier tours or gain experience with ice training over several days.

Boa tarde, tudo bem? Abraços e fico no aguardo.
