- GurudevR0 contributionsVillage tour and food in SigiriaTaste of hospitality in a village tour in Sri Lanka. It is a wonderful and well crafted package tour of around 2 hours. We reached a spot where tickets are sold on the highway, first a jeep, then a bullock cart or a tractor trip in a rough terrain, twenty minutes boat ride and reaching a point where food is ready in a small hut. Lots of love and affection at every point and more so in the food service makes everything memorable. All at twenty dollars for members from SAARC nations. RecommendedWritten 9 December 2024
- shrir3810 contributionsOnce in a lifetime experienceTravceylon Leisure did an excellent job coordinating the whole trip. They arranged the jeep, guide/tracker (Mr Asela), park tickets, bottle of water and a king coconut (drink and snack). They even proactively reached out before the tour to let us know that there were fewer elephants in Kaudulla as they had migrated to Hurulu, so they let us switch tours. As a result, we got to see a lot of elephants. The whole experience was well timed and didn't feel rushed. They are more expensive than other providers, but they arrange everything for you. Their guide/tracker also knew where to go to get to the elephants.Written 8 December 2024
- binkieskate0 contributionsBeautiful Sri Lankan animals in a tranquil settingGreat time. Saw many animals , including elephants, a leopard, crocodile, buffalo and dear. Storks, eagles, kingfishers, hornbills, peacock. Very, very few other tourists. It felt like we had the park to ourselves and the driver/guide was very knowledgeable.Written 7 December 2024

- 680annabelm0 contributionsWilpattu National Park- just go!Great trip and wonderful park, much less crowded than Yala. Unfortunately our day trip coincided with a tropical storm over the area (lasting for 4days) and we were unable to change the date and were warned by the company that the animals might not be out and about as normal, but I still was very keen. Actually we did see many animals including a mother sloth bear and two cubs, which was thrilling, land monitors, spotted deer, peacocks, water buffalo, pigs two species of monkeys and many water birds as there was low level flooding in the park. Highly recommended, so glad we went, no leopard sightings this time - we were also warned this might be the case (wet weather again), the driver was an excellent spotter and patient with the photo stops. A lovely park to visit if you are on the western side of Sri Lanka, do go.Written 29 November 2024

- mandyb3070 contributionsDo This Tour it is FANTASTICI did the Three Kingdom tour with Christopher. (Easily done in a day) also highly recommended. If you have a free day, you should 100% book this in!! Christopher's English is spot on (must be all the movies he watches), so conversation is easy. The areas driven through as beautiful. He stopped whenever I asked to let me look at other things and even managed to buy me an authentic hopper pan I had been searching for!! The historical sites visited were incredible and I was SO glad I got to see them and learn about the history of this amazing country. Christopher and I laughed, ate snacks, I learn a lot and we had a great dayWritten 24 November 2024

- milos_jokic940 contributionsAfternoon safari at Minneriya NPGreat afternoon safari at Minneriya NP. I've seen plenty of elephants throughout the tour (definitely more than 100), as well as some other animals. The car was comfortable and clean, and the whole process was smooth. I want to give kudos to Travceylon for its flexibility, and transparency regarding where and when to expect the most elephants in the area.Written 21 October 2024

- ScenicLanka0 contributionsThe Authentic Charm of Sigiriya VillageAs a tour guide, I’ve had the privilege of guiding guests through many of Sri Lanka’s stunning destinations, but the Sigiriya Village tour always stands out as a truly enriching experience. This particular tour offers a unique opportunity to showcase the authentic Sri Lankan village lifestyle and the natural beauty that surrounds the historic Sigiriya region. From the very start, the peaceful walk through the rice paddies immediately captures the essence of rural life here. As a guide, it’s always rewarding to see guests’ faces light up when they take in the expansive green fields and hear the sounds of nature all around. It’s a tranquil contrast to the busier tourist areas, allowing everyone to slow down and truly absorb the environment. The highlight for many, and for me as well, is the traditional catamaran ride on Sigiriya Lake. Guiding guests through the serene waters with the breathtaking view of Sigiriya Rock in the distance is always a magical experience. It’s not just about the sights—it’s also the quiet moments when guests can immerse themselves in the peacefulness of the lake, away from the crowds. One of the most rewarding aspects of the Sigiriya Village tour is the interaction with the local community. As a guide, I love facilitating these connections. Taking guests into a local home, where they are greeted with warm hospitality, is an authentic cultural exchange. It’s heartwarming to see guests engage with the villagers, whether it's through cooking, sharing stories, or learning about traditional farming methods. The smiles and gratitude from both sides show how travel can truly bring people together. For me, this tour is about more than just sightseeing—it’s about offering guests a deeper understanding of the local way of life, something they might not get to experience on a standard tour. It’s also a reminder of the importance of preserving these cultural experiences for future generations. The Sigiriya Village tour continues to be one of my favorite experiences to guide, and it’s always a joy to see how much it resonates with the guests I host. If you’re looking for a meaningful tour in Sri Lanka, one that connects you with nature, culture, and the heart of local life, the Sigiriya Village tour is the perfect choice!Written 28 September 2024
- 688garyn0 contributionsLong and bumpy with an amazing climax. We arrived at the elephant zone at 2pm , 1hour before the other 20 jeeps because their tour doesn’t begin till 3pm where this 6hr tour begun at 10:30am. This was a tremendous advantage to see a herd of 20 elephants in a truly tranquil and beautiful setting. Make sure the tour get you to the elephants by 2pm. Be aware however that the downside of this 6hr tour is 3 hours of tedious scrubland along spine jarring bumpy trails to see a few animals you will see anywhere. The point is you don’t get deeper in to the park and see more elephants for the additional 3hrs. First you get a pretty lake with some birds and water buffalo. Then you visit one small wetland with flocks of ibis. Stalks, pelicans. Then you arrived at the same elephants as other tours , but at 2pm. Maybe ask the driver to drop two hours off the tour and miss the lake section, pretty as it was, because the additional scrubland drive was long and spine jarring. Arriving at the elephants well before other afternoon tours at 2pm, made this tour a good choice.Written 26 September 2024
- Zack G0 contributionsAn amazing way to see elephants in the wild.An amazing experience! We saw so many beautiful elephants roaming free in the nature park. They even walked past our car a couple times so we got to see them right up close. Our guide Asela was incredible too who knew all the best places to see the elephants and taught us a lot about them and the other animals that live there. Highly recommended.Written 23 September 2024
