About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Sightsee136692893090 contributionsGood way to see the city.GREAT value, better than shore excursion purchased on board. Took a tuk tuk from port entrance to fancy hotel where double decker bus picked us up.Written 20 October 2024
- Sightsee136692893090 contributionsBetter than cruise excursions !!VERY good, as good as - if not better than - the shore excursions offered by the cruise ship we were on. WAY better value !!!Written 30 April 2024
- Martin H0 contributionsGreat valueWe visited via cruise ship and got on the bus at the port. The open top bus was an old London type bus. We were upstairs, sadly the microphone system wasn’t working but the guide did a good job without amplification. He was knowledgeable and pointed out all the points of interest. We visited a temple and a mosque as part of the tour as well as the government backed tourist shop.During the four and a half hour tour we were given complimentary bottled water and cartons of juice as well as biscuits and snacks. All in all excellent value, would highly recommend.Written 20 January 2020
- chrisnormantg0 contributionsInformative and fun with colombo.Nice warm evening. So we were very happy to have the tour on the top of a open bus. Guide and the driver both are very experienced & professional. We stopped twice for a quick coffee. saw the sunset. But they all the shops they stop were expensive. I found same items in other shops lot more cheaper than these.Written 25 August 2019
- Bacirubati40 contributionsColombo in a HurryArriving in Colombo early afternoon from the south of Sri Lanka we wanted to get the most bang for our buck. With nothing planned and only an afternoon we were delighted when our hotel concierge was able to book us in for a Glimpse of Colombo city tour. It was nothing short of fantastic riding in an open air double decker bus. This city is crazy busy and it was the most enjoyable three and a half hours - informative, relaxed and entertaining. Perfect!Written 3 June 2019
- jomiller-kiwi0 contributionsLegend hidden in the modernIt was evening tour. Got on the old fashion red double decker bus. not too many on the bus. the guide (extremely knowledgeable and quite a character) gave us a brief intro before we left. The driver was really experienced one for sure, coz with that traffic and crazy other bus drivers. oh boy!!! they planned to stop 3 times. had a really nice coffee in the stop but craft shop was bit too much expensive, but really nice and worthy crafts. ride was really knowledgeable. you can explore the city almost in one tour. tickets were really worth. Thanks again MR. GUIDE. (sorry can't remember his name)Written 30 March 2019

- Yvonne G0 contributionsShore Excursion Colombo Port Terminal to Colombo City Tour highligths with LunchThe instructions for the tour was that Traveler pick up is offered. On disembarking from the ship, we waited for 15 minutes around the ship docking area, looking for someone with a sign saying Viator. This has always been the case in other ports. Finally sought assistance of a local and he contacted the company. We had to walk to the Main Entrance, Gate 1 , at least a 15 minute walk. Private Contractors are not allowed on the wharf where the ship was docked. We were not the only tour that had trouble. We finally found our tour guide, 90 minutes from when we disembarked. Additional instructions would have helped. Many people were at the stage of going back to the ship, us included. Even if a person with a sign , was near the gate would have helped. The days outing ended up being enjoyed by all, regardless of the poor startWritten 25 February 2019
- Nirasha K0 contributionsFree City tour for Pahamune House childrenOur sincere appreciation to Rajini de Silva for providing these little ones with “The Colombo City Tour”. Most of them came to Colombo for the first time and they were thrilled to do a round of their capital city.Written 17 December 2018
- dense0 contributionsExcellent open top bus tour- a great way to see ColomboToday we took the city bus tour around Colombo. Having only a couple of days to explore the city this seemed like a good value way to get a good idea of what the city has to offer- and we were not disappointed. We often take these tours and this one was the best we have done. Our guide was both personable and knowledgable and did a great job of bringing the city alive. We took the afternoon tour which was lovely because the sun was down at the end of the tour so we had a glimpse of the city at night. I can't recommend this tour enough.Written 10 December 2018
- MaryL290 contributionsGood local tourWe arrived into Port by Cruise ship as usual the vessels' tours were expensive. We decided to try the City Sights Tour ($U25.00 in Nov.18) and were treated like a personal tour. The traffic and drivers are reckless and we felt safe on board the bus. The streets are very bumpy. This tour takes 3 hours and has 3 stops, where they wait for you to visit the temple, square (toilet stop) and craft centre, so is definitely not a hop on hop off. Our guide Nana gave us water (it was very hot day) and was very knowledgeable. I would recommend this tour - a local shopping mall had arranged a shuttle from port to the mall for $US 15 each, but I think this was better value.Written 2 December 2018
- ROB P0 contributionsVery informative, but bumpy!A government sponsored tour, which is obliged to run, even if it has only one customer. The guide was excellent. and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. My only fellow companions, were two love birds, who took over 50 shots ........ of themselves, in various loving poses. Ew! I took slightly less, but mine were of the many sites and buildings/temples, which came into view. It was a Poya day, so the traffic was light. A great opportunity to take photos of all the major sites, so it seems to your friends, on your return, that you have actually visited them. A fast shutter speed, is required, as the old red double decker bus, has old red double decker bus, suspension! Imagine you're Zebedee (Magic Roundabout), you've been lashed to a jack hammer, which is going at full speed and you're somewhere near the experience. Thankfully the two love birds requested to get off, at an un-official stop, near a large park. Probably to get closer to nature, who knows? This led to the guide, dropping his microphone and sitting next to me, giving me the benefit of his astounding, professor level experience. A real treat to have such a man give you the honour of his knowledge on a one to one, basis. He even had time, to answer, all my amateur questions. Excitement too, as the low lying branches of trees, would rake the open top bus, like an hyper active belly gunner, of a Flying Fortress.. Superb!Written 4 November 2018
- TripScrutineer0 contributionsInformative Tour Of ColomboWe spent a few hours on tour with this operator and found it to be most enjoyable. The commentator was a veritable encyclopaedia of knowldege with respect to SriLanka, Colombo and its history. Would highly recommend for those interested in getting to know more about SriLanka, the countries who invaded it and shaped its history and current day culture.Written 3 November 2018
- casafeliz20 contributionsTheir website offers 4 city tours - but they're all the same except for day / hour.Colombo City Tours - after reviewing their website recently, I booked 2 of their tours; 8:30am Heritage Tour and the 4pm Colombo At Night Tour. The website indicated they are different and the lady I spoke with to book them said the same, although she mentioned a small part of the routing was the same or similar. My idea was to see as much of the city as possible so I took both. The day Heritage Tour went well. The Night Tour was a flop - exact same routing. The bus was late and after 15 minutes into the tour I realized it was the same so I asked to get off and receive a refund. After much discussion, no refund was offered and I got off the bus. My time in the city was very limited so you can imagine my great disappointment. I would never, ever recommend that company to anyone.Written 18 September 2018
