If you could only have one type of Hotpot, go for Saigon Hotpot.
Saigon - Beautiful, Bustling and Modern with a touch of historical nostalgia. It would have been complicated to navigate such a maze of wonder, but the wonderful guides from SGHP took care of that. My trip on 18 November 23 started with Duyen, who brought us on an amazing journey visiting the important cultural attractions that defined Saigon as a city. We started with walk on the Nguyen Hue walking street and explored the renowned cafe apartment before settling down for nice cup of tea. We carried on to the Notre Dame Cathedral, central post office and finally the independence palace, where the once US-aligned government of Southern Vietnam governed from. We ended the trip with an extremely delicious Pho and a trip to a very secret “local only” cafe apartment within D1. Duyen has been instrumental in starting the trip on the right footing, and we thank you for your intricate knowledge on Saigon. Day 2 (19 November 23) was no exception, our wonderful guide Nhi brought us on an inside-out tour of Saigon. We started the day with a visit to Banh Mi Hoa Ma (Even though I visited North Vietnam in June 23, i didn’t ate a single Banh Mi. 😂), this was my first Banh Mi in Vietnam, and it was so special that the ingredients were placed on a plate separately from the bun. It was super delicious. We then proceeded to visit the museum of hidden arsenal, understanding how special forces of the Viet Minh prepared and conducted an attack on the independence palace in 1968. Little Chinatown was next in D5, with sock coffee and fried radish cake ticked off the to-try list. Finally, i got to try Vietnamese Durian, which was delicious! I would like to add that Nhi painstakingly researched and ensure that the Durians we were having are of a good quality. Thank you so much! 😊 We ended the tour with coffee at Cong Ca Phe! Nhi has been nothing but outstanding! Appreciate you and your guidance. It is often said that “Time is Money”, and i truly believe in that. I would like to take this opportunity to deeply thank you guys for giving us your precious time over the weekends, and to deliver us the best Saigon experience one can ever asked for. Xin cam on my friends, we’ll meet again! Lester

Saigon Hotpot & Great Tours & A Great Charity
Nhi was my guide her invaluable knowledge and description of the events, and the tour of boththe Independent Palace and the War Remnants Museum, where excellent. With a stop for breakfast, a coffee break, and finally some of the best seafood I have ever eaten as a late lunch, this was an outstanding day, thanks Nhi. This was the best decision I made whilst in the country, their Lantern Charity donation is optional, however when compared to some of the paid for tours, this is head and shoulders above them, so why not donate as a thank you you.

    HCM done differently
An excellent way to explore the bustling, vibrant city of HCM! I was travelling solo so thought this would be a great introduction to this huge city in the first two days of arriving! The students are punctual, communicative (email and WhatsApp) and very considerate of being your guide to their city. They share their level of knowledge while practising their English and you get an insight into their life in Vietnam. Firstly I did an afternoon China town tour with Ms. Minh Anh. We explored the oldest pagoda, wandered the vibrant streets, had delicious dumplings in a popular street food spot and enjoyed chatting. She shared so much of her knowledge relating to this area. The next tour was the Night food tour with Ms. Thanh Lâm. It was a Sunday night so the streets were insanely busy and it was so much fun to be immersed in the chaos of the traffic and the laneways of food jammed with people! We enjoyed eating some food in a quieter spot, wandered through the flower market and then dove into a strip of food stalls which I’d have never found alone! It was an absolute highlight of the trip seeing all the incredible food, smelling the cooking and watching the people! After the food area we continued to ‘walk street’ which was a different kind of busy and the waterfront. A really enjoyable evening with Lâm! They do not confirm your booking until 24-48hrs beforehand as a student has to be available. So I had to be prepared it may not happen- but both went ahead with no problems. They use Grab to book a taxi and show you how much you’ll need to pay- minimal amounts ($2-3 AUD per ride). You pay for their food/drink and and entry fees, which I had none. Tips go to their nominated charity.

    Street Food tour!
I really enjoyed my Street Food tour with Truong Vu, being vegetarian I was worried there wouldn't be too many options for me! But the tour was great and I ate lots of different foods as well as discovering different areas I wouldnt have found on my own! Truong Vu really made sure I had a good tour , we shared lots of different conversation which I really enjoyed! I would defiantly recommend this tour if your staying in Ho Chi Minh!

    Wonderful
Our guide was Harry and he was wonderful company. I was travelling with my elderly Mum and he took extra care of her and was extremely patient with her (walking slowly, opening doors for us, crossing the roads cautiously). He also brought us to places where locals go ( food and shopping). Overall we had a very enjoyable day with him. Cảm ơn !

Night market food experience with friendly young students
My family and I (two adults and two children aged 6 and 10) enjoyed the night food tour. We took a taxi from our apartment in district 1 to 4 to visit a market where locals eat, which for sure was a worthwhile experience. We would like to thank our friendly guides Tuyen and Trang for providing wonderful insight and local information throughout the duration of the tour and customising the tour according to my pescatarian dietary requirements (I think my husband would have preferred more meat dishes..lol). Overall I would highly recommend this experience for those of you visiting HCMC.

Regarding the gratitude for our tour guide and Saigon Hotpot
We had an unforgettable experience of Saigon Hotpot. The guide was excellent. She took us some hot spots. She always made us happy. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at a nice Japanese restaurant, YAKUZEN. We have promised that we meet again in Vietnam or Japan. My daughter and I have become a great supporter of her. Thank you for everything.

    Best Tour Guide
Ms. Ngoc is an awesome coordinator who will answer all your query right away. Lastly Ms. Nhi was the best companion ever. She not only showed me how Saigon but also informed me a lot of how things works in the city with a bit of History. It's really nice for them to organize this kind of tour at no cost.

    Fun tour with friendly guides
My friend and I had such a great experience with our guides, Anh Thu and Gia Han. We explored interesting places around District 3 such as the museum of hidden arsenals, cheo leo cafe (really good coffee), the pink church, etc. More importantly, we had really good conversations and shared many interesting things with each other. We ended the tour feeling very happy, it was like meeting friends. We really recommend this tour to anyone interested!!

    A unique discovery of Chinatown
What a great experience to visit the city with such knowledgeable young adults. My visit has been extremely interesting, I was accompanied by two friendly girls that could speak fluent English. They have been very helpful bringing me around Chinatown sharing memorable moments with local people and tasting traditional food. I wish everybody to discover the real soul of this country, which is full of love and wisdom.

A fun and informative way to try local dishes
A great way to learn all about the local street food scene and delicacies. We tried many dishes we wouldn’t normally which was very fun. We were given further recommendations which we visited the following day. I’d highly recommend if you’re visiting the city.

Wish this service existed in other cities--Highest possible recommendation
Our experience with Thomas could not have been better than a tour with a "professional tour guide." First, we were able to learn about the day-to-day life of a Vietnamese college student and his personal family history. Second, we were able to tailor a tour to address our specific interests (as opposed to the generic desires used in group tours). Third, we were able to go at a pace that addressed our interests in particular sites (which one cannot do in a group tour). And of course, the price cannot be beat. I cannot overstate the insight we gained from the tour and how much we enjoyed our morning with Thomas. If there were more than five stars I would award it to this experience.

    Great experience with friendly guides!
Our guides Thu Nhi and Hoang Trang were very accomodating to our requests and timeline, and brought us to the Ho Thi Ky Flower Market to have a taste of the local food fare. The both of them also gave us many other food/attraction/shopping recommendations for us to try out during our stay here in HCM. Besides that, they are both very friendly and amicable, and we had many light-hearted chats over food and drinks. Overall, I would recommend Saigon Hotpot to anyone who is relatively new to HCM and wants a guide to bring them around to experience the city.

Saigon Night Food Tour + other 2 tours
I did a night food tour with Vi and recommend others do it. Vi is a very friendly and engaging guide who took me to a local food market where he introduced me to all manner of local food (which is exactly what I was hoping for!) and whilst we ate conversation flowed making it a very enjoyable evening. The crazy thing is that they do this all for free (obviously you pay for all the food and transportation) and thanks to them you know you're not getting fleeced! The tour was so enjoyable I also booked through them the morning half day tour around Saigon and Chinatown. On both other occasions, the guides were very knowledgeable and fun to interact with (shoutout to Thu and Fong!). Tip: if you're on your own try to get around with them on the back of their moped as it's so much faster and you see a lot more (they're good riders and experienced in navigating the chaos that is the traffic).

Saigon Hotpot is a pot-pourri of enthusiastic and welcoming university students who are generous enough to spend their time accompanying tourists to know more about HCM City.
During our visit, we were very happy that Phuong Linh and Thu Nhi gave us a very informative city tour of the Independence Palace, the Saigon Post Office and the Cathedral and we had some interesting chats about local life over coffee. Besides, Duyen, Vy and Thắng gave us the opportunities to try the Vietnamese pizzas and cantella herbal drink at the local food market and we ate like locals.
Knowing that some students had to ride their bike for over 45 minutes in the rain in order to meet us, we were truly grateful for their generosity and kindness. Students from Saigon Hotpot do enable us to have a deeper understanding of local life and culture in the city and this really adds colours to our visit. We do highly recommend this group!

Thank you so much to Han for your wonderful tour!

Han was our local companion in Ho Chi Minh. We spent half a day with Han taking in the sights and learning about living in HCM. She was so knowledgeable and friendly and provided us with insights into city life as a student. Han told us many fascinating stories about the history of HCM.

We visited places that we would not have otherwise seen without Han. For example, Han learned that I loved books, so we went to a bookshop that was packed full of books and reminded me of the second-hand bookshops in Melbourne that I would spend hours in as a student as well!

I would recommend that travelers visiting a new city, book private walking tours to get an understanding of the lay of the land, particularly when the cities are bustling and large as HCM. Saigon Hot Pot is an organisation that does such a fabulous job of welcoming travelers to the city. The tour guides are so kind and willing to help you with any information you need both during and after the tour.

A must do!! Navigating through Ho Chi Minh is no small feat. We are a family of six which included 4 young girls, that I don’t think they expected. Our first tour was with Huy, Thu and Giang. They asked us what our preference was and created a tour based on our interest. It was actually heavily raining all afternoon but they had the best attitude and guided us safely through the busy streets anyways. We went to the imperial palace where they took turns and gave us lots of historical and cultural information and was more than happy to answer questions. We had a wonderful time getting to know one another at a coffee shop and learned so much about their love for their country and also their dreams, passions and struggles.

The next evening we met up with Peter and Minh Anh. They were very knowledgeable and friendly and we had a great time eating our way around the street food. We had a perfect mix of tasting different foods at the market but then also had a sit down in the café. Best coconut coffee I’ve ever had, hands down! It gave us an opportunity to connect in a way that helps us understand each other better.

The best part about both of these tours was learning about these wonderful kids. Their passion for success and pushing pass barriers. It is very humbling and my family feels very lucky to have met each and everyone of them. Thank you Huy for your kind words. We wish all of you the best.

Firstly to know that there are students who share about the city voluntarily, is amazing!

Secondly the peeps at Saigon Hotpot got back to me promptly and even had suggestions and were accommodating to my needs.

Thirdly Mirin dude, my tour guide was dope! He was a very knowledgeable and a funny guy (will not forget his 3 staircase joke) He too was accommodating when one of the venues we went to was being renovated he brought me to another gem in the city, the book street. He never failed to answer me about every single question I had, from religion to the different districts and how is it like in a life of a student in district one. Definitely a friend I had made :-)

To peeps who are booking, please do check your mail afterwards and select one of the many tours they provide, so that they cater best to your needs and experience. Don't be a noob like me please :-D

We did a local walking tour that was booked with Saigon Hotpot. Maevis, our tour guide who is very friendly, informative and knowledgeable about Ho Chi Minh City. Guiding us through the history and local traditions through Vietnam. We did a fair bit of walking so heads up to wear a good pair of walking shoes!! I would highly recommend doing the walking tour as you can do more than just what’s in the city as they have many different walking tour options.

It was an unexpected surprise, but I think Saigon Hotpot was the highlight of my month-long trip to Southeast Asia. After my first tour hanging out with Saigon locals, I quickly signed up for 2 more. There’s nothing like touring hidden food spots and city attractions with local guides. It felt like visiting the city with old friends because of how eager the tour guides are to show you places that peak your interest. Although I was the first tour given after the Vietnamese Covid travel pause, Saigon Hotpot was run incredibly professionally with tour guides being punctual and ensuring a comfortable and safe tour. I would recommend this experience to anyone who visits Saigon. I already referred a friend and he said it was one of the best days of his travels too. A special thanks to my wonderful tour guides Phuc, Tai, Tuong, Bach, Ngan, and Minh.

We came as a family and signed up for a number of tours over 2 days with Saigon Hotpot. It definitely was the highlight of our trip, and it feels like visiting the city with old friends rather than a commercialised tour! They were super flexible and accommodating for all our needs. They were also very knowledgeable on the places we visited. We ate, we shopped, and we explored to our hearts content!

If you ever visit Saigon, do yourself a favour and book a tour with this fantastic organisation. You won’t regret it!

Special shout-out to our guides on this trip, Minh Tuyen, Nhat Linh, My my and Thien Ngan. You were wonderful and made our trip so memorable. I will definitely book future tours again with Saigon Hotpot. Thank you and Cảm ơn.

I had a wonderful guided tour by Phuc Vy, as she led me throughout the city's most historical sites while providing me information and facts that any paid tour would've have provided! She is incredibly kind and thoughtful as she always checked in with me to see if I was feeling okay, and if there's anything that I need. I HIGHLY recommend doing this tour, and if you get a tour with Phuc Vy, I know you will have a wonderful time.

My wife and I spent the afternoon with two guides, Linh and Pete, on a tour of the Reunification Palace in HCMC. Both of them had a lot of information to share, including interesting facts about many of the rooms that we visited. Another young man, Canh(?) joined us to learn more about Saigon Hotpot.

More importantly, spending time with two young local residents allowed to us to get a sense of what it's like to live in the city. The coffee that we shared in a cool local coffee shop was almost as good as the tour itself. We would definitely take another tour with them if we are back in Saigon!

Meeting with our tour guides in China Town was a highlight of our time in Ho Chi Minh. Both Cat and Nhi were delightful and very informative teaching us about the Church and the Temple we visited, and both had really good English which we appreciated a lot. They took us to have yummy broken rice for breakfast, some great coffee in a near by marketplace and then traditional drinks made from seaweed. These kind of experiences would be hard to achieve as a tourist without the local knowledge and volunteer guides in particular.

We loved hearing about the Thien Hau Temple, about the architecture, history and all the symbolism and meanings within its walls.

I recommend to anyone who visits HCMC in the future to book a tour with Saigon Hotpot; a fantastic service and brilliant way to meet kind and intelligent young Vietnamese people who are very generous with their time and knowledge.
