Itinerary
- 1Depart from your hotel at 8am and drive about 2 hours from Saigon to the township of Cai Be to board the Cai Be Princess. The crew welcomes you aboard with cold towels and a refreshing drink as the Cai Be Princess Sampan sets off for its leisurely cruise on the busy waterways of the Mekong Delta. On the river, all sorts of boats ply the water, from small fishing boats to cargo barges loaded with fruit and vegetables. Observe a little of river life as it plays out on the banks - noting the people and the stunning landscapes - while your attentive crew serves you tea and seasonal fruit. At Tan Phong Islet board a little rowing boat to explore the canal’s hidden mangroves. Return to your sampan to visit an ancient house built in the 19th century. Make stops along the way to provide glimpses of local cottage industries, including factories for the production of coconut candy and puffed rice (the local equivalent of popcorn), products that provide a living for the river people. Your cruise ends at Le Longanier Restaurant. Lunch is served in this exquisite colonial-style villa set in a lush tropical garden by the river, surrounded by fruit trees, giving you a sense of life during the Indochina of yesteryear. After lunch, take a short walk along a small canal, towards the Ba Bon Bridge where your personal vehicle awaits to drive you to Ho Chi Minh City. Arrive at your hotel in the afternoon. * Estimated pick-up time: 08.00AM - Estimated duration: 9hrs

- shannam5740 contributionsFun and delicious! We really enjoyed this cooling class. Quay first took us to the biggest market in the city and explained many of the ingredients we were going to use during class. From there, we went to the home where she taught us how to make 3 different dishes as well as how to decoratively carve carrots! At fun morning and delicious lunch in a quiet peaceful environment away from the hustle and bustle of busy HCMC.Written 4 June 2023

- Circletheplanet0 contributionsPrivate Tour of Cu Chi Tunnels, Mekong Delta, and War Remnants MuseumMs.Soung and her team were very courteous, timely, and made us feel very comfortable and safe the entire trip. Ms.Suong was very attentive to our needs and did her very best to explain the history and cultural practices of Vietnam. Although at times, we felt we could have understood her better and be able to express ourselves better, I think overall, we got good information and learned a lot about the history of Vietnam. All the requests for vegetarian meals and the choice of lunch locations were superb and we totally enjoyed this experience. Cu Chi Tunnels and the War Remnants Museum were very informative, moving and definitely a must see attraction. Mekong Delta was not as impressive, rather quite pedestrian, and in hindsight, we wish we could have selected some other spots to visit. The places we visited on land were very appealing, especially the lunch venue selection for Mekong Delta was superb. Thank you.Written 6 March 2020
- Michael E0 contributionsHalf DayI would like to thank Hien and his driver for taking me to the Cu Chi tunnel complex. It was very interesting and he was very informative. He also took us to the hotel and the airport. Hien needs to work on his pronunciation, but nevertheless his English was pretty good when you consider that I don't think he has ever left Vietnam. Once again thanks very much from Michael Ebel.Written 29 February 2020
- nickm2520 contributionsA very interesting tourWe enjoyed this tour because it covered all the main points of interest in a little over half a day. Our guide was fantastic - a laugh a minute and plenty of interesting facts along the way. We particularly like the speed boat ride at the end - it was a great chance to see Saigon from a different perspective.Written 24 February 2020
- waltoncmw0 contributionsTho Thi LamLam is very knowledgeable about all aspects of this tour, and made it very interesting. She is a very friendly caring lady, and took very good care of me throughout the day. It was a pleasure to be in the tour with her. If ever I come back to Ho Chi Min city and want to do another tour, I would certainly request to be on another tour with her.Written 21 February 2020
- 11Paul110 contributionsAmazing trip with an excellent guide (Sofie)!!I had wanted to visit the Cu Chi tunnels after learning about them during my time in the Marines. Our hotel concierge recommended Buffalo Tours and taking a speedboat up the Saigon River to what is now a government attraction. We were picked up at our hotel in a new van and transported to the docks to take the hour long trip upriver. Our guide Sofie had fresh baked chocolate filled Croissants and a great supply of fresh fruits which she prepared for us, both on our way upriver and on our return trip. Once we arrived at the tunnels, She provided an informative tour of the location with detailed information and onsite knowledge, such as showing us the air vents concealed in the bases of termite mounds, hidden entrances, the history of the tunnel expansion and the opportunity to crawl through a portion of the tunnel system (if claustrophobia is not a concern). We were impressed with both her knowledge of the site history, her abilty to answer questions and the feeling of not being hurried along. After several hours we returned to HCM downriver and had a nice 5 course Vietnamese lunch prepared for us at the docks, then were driven back to our hotel. It has been many years since I was inspired enough to write a review, and that is saying a lot.Written 9 February 2020
- genalexmck0 contributions7N Saigon to Angkor Explorer for 7 nightsMy son and I have just returned from our Discova trip Tour name: 7N Saigon to Angkor Explorer for 7 nights Departure Date: Saturday, Jan 4th 2020 We LOVED everything about Vietnam, the food, accomodation and people. The Discova trip in Vietnam was faultless in every way. We had the most amazing guide T (Pham Minh Trung). My son and I believe we enjoyed Vietnam so much because of this outstanding tour guide. He was easy to talk to, very informative and really ensured the trip was everything we wanted. At one point we asked if we could try an authentic Vietnamese restaurant where locals would eat - which he organised for us. We also had a free afternoon and asked T for ideas - he took us to Tra Su forest. What an amazing place (you really should include this as part of your tour). T guided us through the forest and we had an amazing experience (one of my favourite activities). T was the perfect tour guide and I would highly recommend him to anyone going to Vietnam. T was a high caliber of guide; passionate about his job, excellent English, focused on the client and warm in nature! 5 STARs I wish I could say the same for the Discova guides in Cambodia. They were late and unreliable. We were collected from the Siem Airport by a driver (who was 20 minutes late) and had close to no English - no tour guide was present. The Siem Reap Discova lost our booking and then found it after they had instructed me to contact my people in Australia. (Just like I had with you I sent them a re-confirmation email late December, so they had no excuse for this tardy behaviour). Part of this package was a full day tour of the Angkor Wat temples - our guide had to “help her mum” so cut the tour short at 12pm. 3 hours of temple looking!!!! She was going so fast through the temples I asked if we could walk around on our own - without her as I felt we were not getting to see everything. I did contact Phnom Penh Discover when we returned to hotel at 12pm and they organised another guide who collect us at 4pm. I would not recommend Cambodia Discover to ANYONE! Waste of money and a very unprofessional organisation. 1 STARWritten 18 January 2020
- David A0 contributionsGood job ThanhCouldn’t have wished for a better way to see HCM City in a day. Thành gave us a great overview of the city, the culture, and of course the war. We mixed graphic war museum pieces with a fun ride through China town by bicycle rickshaw. Thành coordinated our driver to perfection, always waiting for us in the perfect place to maximizing walking efforts. Cool lunch at a local restaurant ( 5 courses) as part of our package was an unexpected bonusWritten 6 January 2020
- stevedV2487JV0 contributionsGolden Wedding AnniversaryMy wife and I used Buffalo Tours, now known as Discova, during our stay in Ho Chi Min City for all our transport needs for tours and transfers to and from the airport. They were always on time, friendly and reliable. More especially they always gave us a safe and comfortable drive, which, considering the driving habits in the Far East is very commendable. I would always recommend them.Written 30 December 2019
- 966ridam0 contributionsPoorly done tour by Kim.We did a private tour with Kim as our guide. Kim wasn’t interested in the tour. He should think of an alternative career. He did not give us information. For example, the longer tunnels are wider & have much more to see. He took us to the 20 metre tunnel that is cramped & hard to breathe in. That was our tunnel experience. Avoid Kim as your guide.Written 28 December 2019
- 966ridam0 contributionsAvoid Kim as your guide.Kim was our guide. He was quite disinterested in the tour. We were eavesdropping on other guides for information. Kim’s English wasn’t the best. We asked to go back at 1pm. It could have been an interesting visit. All in all - a wasted day.Written 28 December 2019
- tommyliz260 contributionsCu Chi Tunnel Private TourWent on the Cu Chi Tunnels private tour back in October with Thoi Thi Lam as our tour guide. Brilliant day out with good informative tour of the tunnels and the history of the area. Very good English and comfy transport from Saigon to the tunnels. Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.Written 28 November 2019
- paulashaw1090 contributionsCu Chi Tunnel experienceWhat an interesting look into how the VC lived through the war! It was a little freaky walking through a tunnel, but it made you realise just how small the tunnels were! It was a great boat ride back up the Saigon and delicious lunch at the riverside restaurant. Thank you to my amazing guide Thoi Thi LamWritten 11 November 2019

We had a great time with our guide Khanh. She gave us a lot of insights into the life & history of Vietnam, & was patient with all our questions. The tour was managed well & was seamless. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Picked up at 7:40 from our hotel by our guide Nam for the drive out of the city through the suburbs and into the countryside. After about an 90 minutes we made a stop at a rest stop Farming Resort. Very clean and new toilets. Coffees and snacks as well as local produce for sale. After another 30 minutes stopped and walked through a local brick factory to the river where we boarded a river boat. We did this by hopping across other boats. Willing helpers lent a hand to navigate! Explored the river (had DEET on but no sign of any mosquitoes during the day) seeing fish traps and coconut groves as we made our way along jungle canals. We stopped at a coconut farm where we tried snake wine and coconut candy. Snake wine smelled and tasted like sake. Boarding the boat again after a short distance we disembarked and tried our hand at weaving mats. Next was a tuk tuk ride to the gorgeous teak boat, the Le Jerai. Here we were treated like a king and queen experiencing a cooking class/demonstration before being treated to a five star dining experience of Delta delicacies. All the while cruising peacefully along the river. All too soon it was time for the drive into the increasingly hectic traffic of Saigon. A wonderful rural respite and taste of traditional Vietnam we feel privileged to have experienced.
