- mohits20150 contributionsCU CHI TUNNELSOur visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels with Mr. Phang from Kim Travels was truly unforgettable. Mr. Phang’s expertise and engaging storytelling brought the history of these remarkable tunnels to life, giving us a deeper appreciation of their significance. Walking through the narrow, dimly lit passages offered a glimpse into the incredible resilience and ingenuity of those who lived and fought there during the war. Adding to the excitement, we experienced shooting a real AK-47. The thrill of handling this powerful weapon was both exhilarating and intense, making it a memorable part of the day. The combination of historical insight and hands-on adventure created a perfect balance of education and excitement. We highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to dive into Vietnam’s rich history while adding a dash of adventure. It’s an experience we’ll cherish for years to come!Written 2 December 2024

To begin with, you are driven to a building that feels and looks like the inside of a hospital. White walls, narrow corridors and people rushing around. You are then shepherded into a room, where a highly uninterested member of staff will demonstrate how bamboo cotton is superior to sheep wool. It's like sitting in front of a television commercial. Then the only way out is to weave through the isles that are full of the items just shown to you in the demo. Then you hop back on the bus, very surreal and bizarre.
Then you are taken to a bee farm, where you can try honey snacks and tea (which we actually enjoyed). The locals try and sell their items, which is totally fine. They weren't pushy.
After a short boat journey we arrived to where we would sit and enjoy local entertainment, with fresh fruit available. Fruit was good, the acts weren't. They looked highly uninterested, you could tell they resented being up there. They then put baskets on each table and stare at you until you tip. We gave 20,000VND and were given dirty looks.
The boat trip along the Mekong Delta stream was fun, apart from the rowers looking at you and waving money and saying 'tip' towards the end of the boat trip. We didnt give anything this time, it might sound tight but we don't like being pressured into tipping. Especially when all they've done is row you down a stream and wave money in your face, without one smile.
We had a bang average lunch, and then went wandering around. We couldn't believe that there were around 25 crocodiles all bunched up in a tiny enclosure. Wouldn't be surprised if they are drugged, as they barely moved a muscle (we understand these creatures dont move much anyway) but to be lying on top of one another because of the lack of room wasnt nice to look at. Especially when a group of chinese kids started throwing tissues and items at them.
Theres also cages with snakes, porcupines and birds. For me, theres absolutely no need for this, apart from trying to 'wow' tourists. But for a lot of western tourists, this wont sit well. Maybe Asian tourists enjoy seeing these animals up close, but it's unnecessary.
All in all, a very average experience of what is meant to be amazing and a place full of history.
Would not recommend, unless you are on a strictly low budget (as we were) as our tour was very cheap compared to some.

Superb experience with the tour company with affordable Mekong Delta package. It has been best with our tour guide “Dragon” that made the trip worthwhile.
It was a fun full day adventure that immerses tourists to Vietnam’s daily life, history, culture and food.
Dragon is very informative, like your older brother who shows you around. Very polite, accommodating and friendly. He makes the adventure trip well worth it.
This is a must try your package as the price is cheaper than other providers YET full of experience.

The tour is a must do when in the region, it really gets you in the way of how people in the delta are living. Really enjoyable itinerary, very good lunch with local products and the visit to candy factory a nice experience. Out guide, Mr Fauzi, was a really pleasant presence, took good care of us and also gave us some singing show which was really funny. I totally recommend the tour with Fauzi, it’s a unique experience going in the Mekong delta!

Nhu is a fantastic live wire guide who holds the group together with her enthusiasm and her personal touch. She’s knows everybody in the group within the first half hour and had a great way of connecting with people.
The tour was a great local experience. We were picked up from the hotel , visited a nice pagoda , and then drove to the jetty where we took a boat to the other side. The daytrip included a nice canoe ride into the backwater where we saw water coconuts growing , and crocodiles , porcupines etc. A very nice meal was later served followed by an optional bicycle ride ( but ours was cancelled due to rain unfortunately ). In the afternoon we visited an island and were served lovely honey tea along with nice tropical fruit . A few local musicians performed a traditional show for us too. The day trip ended about 5.30 pm. My tour group enjoyed the day. A special thanks to Nhu our nice guide ! 😊

The travel company picks you up from the given locations and takes you in air conditioned buses. The ride is around 2 hours to the first stop and you are given brief of Vietnamese culture and the Saigon city. Our guide Jayden explained the history of Mekong River and delta very elaborately. You first half at the Pagoda for around 30 mins and then at the Mekong delta. It's a good trip if you can spare the day and then enjoy multiple activities.

We had a wonderful tour with Larry as our guide. The ride out and back was in a very comfortable air conditioned van. The tour flowed smoothly from boat to island with wonderful treats along the way. The coconut candy is worth the price of the trip! The lunch was fresh and delicious! Larry’s English is very good and he taught us many things, told fun stories and we were lucky enough to have him sing us a traditional song on our way home. This tour and tour company is a winner.

We loved it, Lam, our guide was excellent. Very funny and perfect english. He explained everything very well and we had absolutely no problems with anything.
It's a long day but you get a lot done during it without any strenuous walking as there are multiple boats along the way as you go across the mekong and through canals along the island with a golf cart service across the only long distance on land. There is an optional short cycle during lunch which you don't have to do as the area has hammocks and seating you can rest on.
Food was very nice we were sat at a table of 6 and shared a variety of food including, elephant fish spring rolls, vegetable soup, garlic spring onion(I think), ginger chicken, pork spring rolls, rice, watermelon, and jasmine tea.
We held a python, tasted fresh honey and a variety of honey products. The honey ice cream was great!
Got a lovely selection of fruit and listened to some traditional music. Lam showed us all the steps to making coconut candy and we got to sample some. You can buy some If you wish but no pressure whatsoever. The boat rides and bus journey were all very comfortable and we even finished with a karaoke song (again no pressure to sing it was just Lam with volunteers up front and only one song!)
Overall an excellent experience and our guide was brilliant and very easy to understand and get along with I highly recommend it.

We had a wonderful day by the Mekong river. The day was a huge success thanks to the help of our very enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgable guide Nim. Nim was very accommodating and spoke fantastic English/Vietnamese to accommodate all parties. Would highly recommend this trip to give yourself a break from the hussle and bussle of Ho Chi Minh City and gain a better insight into Vietnamese culture. The lunch and honey tea made the day even sweeter, would highly recommend this trip to everyone.
