Cu chi tunnels is must see. Half of the day trip is not enough. We spent in total 8 hours for all, but only 1,5 hours on the site. I would recommend to spende more time

Great tour! Our guide Bao knew a lot and kept it very interesting. I go home with a lot more knowledge about the war and the tunnels that were used. Big thanks!

        A Trip Back in Time
The trip covered a lot of ground with an affable host Phil/Phù who imparted lots of info. The Cu Chi tunnels were quite an adventure to see and experience 1st hand. Going just 20 meters inside the low narrow tunnels going hundreds of kilometers, necessitating crawling in the dark, was a bit too real. The Mekong 2nd half included a ferry to 2 interesting islands and a great ride in a small dingy on a canal under the cover of arching palms. The trip included a few touristy spots but was well worth it to see how laquering was done, coconut candy was made, and honey and royal jelly came from hives on one of islands visited. We had a fun, diverse, and affable group to boot. Guy

Excellent tour guide and activities, more driving than anticipated.
Our guide Theo was fantastic, enthusiastic, humorous and knowledgeable. The activities were great, it just wasn't made clear how much time driving there would be.

        Great tour!
The tour was great. We learned how coconut candy is made, also got to bicycle around one of the islands, had a delicious meal and Alex Cuong, our guide, was amazing. Loved his energy and enthusiasm! Thank you again!

        Loved this trip
Kai was a brilliant guide who took us on a fantastic and very busy day. Started at 7.30am pick up from hotel then off to cu chi tunnels with a chance to shoot a Ak47 or other guns (charged extra for bullets 1800000 dong for a small magazine - expensive) Then lunch and then Mekong for a busy schedule of boating, punting with fruit tasting and local singers and music, honey tea tasting and bee hives and snake holding. Then off punting and then to coconut factory. A very busy day and got back at 6.30pm There are lots of stops where local people show you their products eg. honey etc we bought some things but you also need tip money handy

        Worth the money!
The tour is worth the money! You get to see a lot in 1 day and Tommy was really good in explaining all types of stories (local habits, about the war, …). The food is also more than enough and of good quality. Tommy and Xuan take care of you and make sure everything is going smoothly.

We booked a 1 Day Mekong Delta trip. We are a family of 4, kids 11 and 9. The trip was booked online, via GetYourGuide. I’d highly recommend this since all the tour operators on their site/app are fully vetted. However, if you want to go with the tour guide we had, then book directly with Vietnam Adventure yTours.

Our tour guide was Big Dave aka Big Handsome David. He was beyond excellent. His English is impeccable and his added flare of humour made the trip far more enjoyable.

About the tour: I was skeptical since I wasn’t sure what we’d be getting for our money. As well, after watching plenty of YT vids and reading Reddit, etc, many suggested that these types of tours are not worth it. I would argue, this is perfect if you’re on a tight timeline. Ideally, you should do at least 2 days, so you can get to experience Can Tho and Caí Rang. The reason I say this, the floating markets are slowly fading away. However, this type of tour is an excellent introduction to the Mekong and their way of life. Big Dave is extremely knowledgeable and educated our family about the Mekong Delta, the industry of now and before, history, etc. What made this even more enjoyable, no pressure tactics to buy any of the goods when visiting the various sites (coconut candy, honey and bee pollen). We did end up buying the pandan coconut candy, because we enjoyed it and it was convenient (we were on a tight itinerary). Our family had an amazing day and fantastic if you’re travelling with kids.

Again, big kudos to Big Dave. He’s easy to talk to, very sociable and open to answering all your questions. One other thing to mention. Try to do this tour with Big Dave towards the start of your stay in HCMC. You’ll get valuable tips from him to help with your remaining days in HCMC and/or Vietnam!

I really liked the tour because you get a pretty good overview of local sights in one day. Since we were in town on business and only had one day, we decided on a package like this. It's a bit of a shame that all the stops are ticked off like a checklist before you get to the next stop. However, that's perfectly fine for the short time and the price! If you're here for a longer time, you should take more time. You can buy souvenirs at the individual stops, unfortunately a bit too much mass-produced stuff for my taste, but if you're planning on doing that anyway, you'll find what you're looking for here. At one stop, a painter exhibits his paintings, which I can definitely recommend.
Tips are requested everywhere, but never in a pushy or disrespectful way.
The people here try very hard to offer a nice experience and 1€/$ at one or two stops shouldn't hurt anyone who has managed to travel this far.
Our tour guide, Justin, was very well informed, charming and funny.
4 stars for the whole experience and thank you for the nice impressions.

The tour guide, Big Dave, was really funny, but at the same time also had really good crowd control. Everything was very well handled, and the itinerary was adjusted according to the weather so we could get the best experience. In addition, we also received very useful information about how to enjoy HCM City and Vietnam as a whole!

Even the start was a disaster: Before we even started, we spent 70 minutes rattling off four hotels – all less than 200 meters from the travel agency. Each time, there was a 15 minute wait outside the hotel. So you've wasted over an hour pointlessly before the tour even starts.

Then the next low: Instead of an authentic Mekong Delta experience, we ended up in a huge sales hall (aka silk production) and were asked to buy souvenirs. It felt like a blanket tour for retirees.

As if that weren’t enough, a python was put around tourists’ necks en masse – a pure photogimmick at the expense of animals. It felt like going back 20 years in time. How can such a thing still be offered today, and why do tourists still participate?

Note: We weren't alone. Buses full of tourists were carted everywhere, so every station was completely overflowing. Instead of nature and culture, there was mass handling. I suspect it's the same on all similar tours. It felt like you had landed in a bad theme park.

Conclusion: Save yourself not only the money, but above all your time. If you want to experience the real Mekong Delta, plan more time, continue south and invest in a higher quality tour. Everything else is a waste of time.

PS: Price was very fair for the length of the tour, etc. But it wasn't fun.

Would not recommend this tour and I am very surprised by the positive reviews I see.

The whole day felt like an attempt to earn more money disguised as a "tour" about the Mekong. We spent the day being shuffled from shop to shop - a place where they showed us a small bee hive and tried to sell us honey products, more shops where they tried to sell us chocolate and coconut candy. There was an opportunity to listen to locals sing except it was soured by the impression that none of them wanted to be there and they were being paraded like zoo animals - blank faces and constant staring at the tip boxes during the performance.

Tipping was a huge issue during the tour in general. We were constantly "reminded" that we had to leave tips after every service which was handled quite poorly compared to other tours in Vietnam I've been on - tipping should be optional/suggested and not something that is crammed down your throat at every opportunity. Before we sat down for lunch, our tour guide also offered us the opportunity to try some alligator and rice field rat which everyone jumped at as we all assumed it was included in the lunch fee. After taking down names of willing participants they then revealed that it was actually "20 dollars" and when pressed for more information, that it was 500k VND for both dishes which to me is quite a blatant rip off. I am more disappointed in the lack of upfront honesty and what seemed to be an attempt to manipulate tourists.

The following is a personal experience so your mileage may vary but I was also treated quite poorly by one of the staff at the chocolate shop. Being of Asian heritage, I watched as she refused to serve me, blatantly ignoring the fact that I was standing in front of her and serving Caucasian visitor after Caucasian visitor next to me with a big smile. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and waited patiently despite being at the front of the line. However, I tried to get her attention after she continued to ignore, after which she begrudgingly served me with a sour face.

I did however enjoy one of the boat rides through the Mekong - beautiful scenic views and a great cultural experience. I wish more of the tour was like this, apart from one or two interesting cultural tidbits, I left the Mekong delta not having learnt much about the actual culture and history.

Dear valued guest! Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize that your experience with our Mekong tour did not meet your expectations. It is deeply concerning to hear about the issues you faced, and we genuinely regret that aspects of the tour left you feeling disappointed. We are glad you enjoyed the boat ride and the scenic beauty of the Mekong, but it is clear we fell short in delivering an authentic, enriching, and enjoyable experience overall. Your feedback is invaluable and will be used to improve our tours and training processes. Thank you again for bringing these issues to our attention, and we hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future to provide a more positive experience. Sincerely!

We had high expectations of the tour to the Mekong Delta and have had many positive experiences on previous tours in Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, this tour was rather disappointing.
The bus ride was fine, but our guide gave hardly any useful information about the trip and mostly made inappropriate jokes. After a detour to a pagoda, we arrived at the harbor, where we were left standing for 5 minutes and had no idea where we were going or where our guide was. After he showed up again and guided us into a wooden boat designed for around 40 people, we went to a coconut candy factory. This was OK but had absolutely no connection to the Mekong Delta. I would have liked a few informative explanations here instead of being bored again with bad anecdotes. You could try some of the sweets and then "were allowed" to shop for a few minutes. We then went to an island where we could ride a bike for around 40 minutes, which was pretty unspectacular. Lunch was OK. Afterwards there was fruit and tea while locals sang. Then tip baskets were handed out, as this was obviously expected. The actual boat trip along a small stretch of the Mekong was nice but, as at many other stops, set tip prices were required. The woman who rowed our boat was also quite pushy and indicated several times during the trip that we should pay her. This somewhat dampened the experience of rowing. All in all, there was very little authenticity and in the end it felt more like you had only come to leave money for the locals. I would not book the tour again and find the description of a Mekong Delta tour inappropriate, as you only crossed the Mekong once in the big boat and the rowing boat tour only lasted about 20 minutes. Conclusion: 90% tourist rip-off and 10% beautiful Mekong experience.

Overall value for money with lots of individual activities to keep you engaged. However, these are built into the programme to persuade you to part with your cash.
We chose small group tour option and bus was well air conditioned but some seatbelts missing - labelled as VIP bus.....it was not!
Tour guide was friendly but his engagement was limited with the group, so much more he could have informed on but didn't.
In summary, had this been western prices trip it would have disappointed but for what you pay it was ok!!

Our guide was fantastic and hilarious and she did the most to make our time enjoyable.

My issue was more regarding the point of the tour. There appears to be tons of activity in the delta with pockets of little industries but the tour is just a tourist conveyor belt where you are carted around from station to station to buy things or tip people.

The drive was two hours there with a stop at a temple which was alright.

When you arrive at the delta you try local honey tea which is delicious but then they put things on your table for you to buy, then as you leave there is a quick 5 minutes for everyone to hold a python that pretty much just chills in a small cage. You get carted off to a coconut sweet factory where they show you how it's made and sell you coconut products that they make like ae manufactured there but we learnt later you can buy in any store for a far cheaper price. Afterwards you go to a restaurant to eat fruit and have people sing folk songs where you are expected to tip. Then you go up a river in a smaller canoe where two local people paddle you up and ask rudely for a tip before they drop you off at your boat.

You have lunch on another island where the elephant fish was nice to try but the rest of the meal is not particularly exciting. After lunch you can cycle or walk around the island (for free) which was a part I really enjoyed.

And then it was back to the bus for a 2 hour drive back to the city.

Overall I didn't see the point of the tour. At every point you are either sold something or expected to tip with everything feeling very rushed. I don't feel like what you learn justifies going on this tour.

We did the tour on Monday, 17th February 2025. Our experience with our guide Justin was 10/10. He really made the tour more enjoyable, was funny and knowledgable. Unfortunately the locations you visit aren't what you'd expect particularly the Mekong Delta itself which is overcrowded and sadly a bit of a money grab.
We first noticed this at the Bee Farm, which sat us down at a little table serving us tea & pushing local products on us. We had to ask to get up from the table and look around as the selling strategy was becoming a bit overwhelming.
The lunch aspect of the tour was also a let down due to the number of tours happening at the same time. The food is prepared before arrival so you're served cold fish and soup. The coconut factory was okay, it was interesting to see how the sweets were made and worth trying the coconut ice cream.
You're also taken to a villa where the locals are singing for you and you're given some fruit to try. Whilst this was an interesting stop in the tour, again little was gained and you're expected to leave a tip of the singers.
We would recommend if you're doing this tour, seeking your own way into the Delta and seeing it independently as you'd get more out of the day.

The small rowing boat was a lovely experience. The guide was lovely, however, for us a lot of the day felt rushed and not very personal / bit for show.
We wanted to try the crocodile but weren’t made aware of the price until after, be aware! It’s worth trying to try… but is around £9 GBP for a small portion!
