This really was the trip of a lifetime - we felt so privileged to meet the local people and visit their villages and the town of Sapa. Our guide, Lala was particularly amazing, so knowledgeable, friendly and patient.
The landscape and scenery is honestly unforgettable and a perfect way to start our holiday in Vietnam!

The hotel was ok, quite basic and a not very clean, but to be honest it was not a big deal as the destination and landscape speaks for itself! If we booked again we would probably go for a home stay option.

The tour was two days of walks across wonderful landscape with amazing views, the food was great too and we got to meet some lovely people along the way. The only other thing I was say is that the description says there is a chance for swimming in waterfalls, but this wasn’t the case and we didn’t get the chance.

Apart from that everything was perfect! I would highly recommend this trip! Thank you everyone! 😊

This was probably the highlight of my Vietnam trip. The bus ride to sapa was very comfortable. Spent an incredible couple days trekking in the mountains and learning about the culture of the guides. Great experience.

Recently did the 2D1N with homestay trekking tour in Sapa. Our guide Lily spoke English really well, and explained us all sorts of things during the trip such as the various cultures, handcrafting techniques, Sapa's nature and history.
During the trekking you are accompanied by a group of local women. They will help you in climbing up and down during the trip, which is sometimes needed more than you think (it can be VERY slippery, especially when it is a bit wet). At the end of the trip they will ask you to buy something from them (mostly they offer a variety of handcrafted bags, scarfs and bracelets), which to me is a very fair way in thanking them for their help throughout the hiking.
Really enjoyed the trip and beautiful scenery, would definitely recommend!

Sapa is lovely with the mountains of scallops, romantic terraces. We are accommodated in a cozy homestay with full facilities. Our guides are indigenous people, but she uses the English language very fluently. She also gave us some advice when buying gifts at the craft market. Highly recommended this tour

We are welcome to our hotel in Hanoi and travel by bus to Sapa. Homestay with warm water, and a quiet bedroom. Our guides always follow us to avoid being lost. She also told us to keep warm while on the move. The scenery stands out with terraced fields. Very satisfied with the company and our guide

So to start, 5* Excellent should be just that so all those giving 5* must have had moderated expectations of the tour. In truth this is a 3-3.5*

To start off the green bus was definitely much better than expected as everyone has their own lie down bed, albeit if you are taller than 5'6" you are likely to have to bend your knees (although on the way back it seems they were built for 6' but they had no USB so seems the newer buses cram more in. Regardless, it helped keep travel sickness at bay so a really good start.

Upon arriving in Sapa you get a meal in a hotel restaurant which was OK. All beverages not water had to be paid for.

Then you meet your guides. So, here's the low down. There were 11 of us on the tour, and guess what, there were 11 guides. Some were more friendly than others. Personally I wasn't sliding around all over the place as some were so got little benefit from the guides, but "chatting" to some on Day 1 was pleasant enough. The trek was tough for some at the start being mainly up hill, and there was not a great deal of scenery through a wooded area.

As we broke out into a more open area it was OK, but there was little time for photos as you have to get through 12km in a group of 11. Eventually we made it down to a road and I would say that roughly 8km of the 12km is just walking along a road. At times good views, at times exceptional, but again, there is an agenda to the walk so photo ops a quick, until...you get to the village where some of the guides live and leave the tour. Of course, the 1:1 ratio means you are expected to buy something from the guide that was allocated to you. Some didn't seem to mind too much as they had had a lot of help standing up. I note in the agenda it states you will, "go into a local house to study their culture and see how to make handicraft". Not sure if I missed something but that definitely did not happen.

So, to end day 1 we got to a homestay. I was somewhat surprised upon arriving that it was more like a youth hostel as the accommodation was a mezzanine level with around 20 beds in it. As a couple that's a bit weird for me. It seems others were offered communal accommodation or a private room. Sadly we were not. Never mind, we imagined back to our hosteling days and enjoyed a few beers with some good company from around the world. Food was plentiful and pretty good

Day 2 got off to a good start with a lot of pancakes, and once again we set off on a trek with new 1:1 guides so there was no doubt about what was expected at the end of the trek. Only problem was the Day 2 guides were nowhere near as pleasant as the ones on Day 1, but then I'm not always pleasant at work! The walk on Day 2 was a lot better, walking along the terraces of the rice fields and more "off piste". Again, the terrain, itinerary, and large group meant that there was more concentrating on where you were putting your feet than necessarily enjoying the scenery, but very good all the same. Again, the tour details talks of going into houses and learning about culture etc. None of this happened and for me that was very sad as surely that's part of the trip? The end of the trek ended with the inevitable asking for you to buy goods, only this time it was way worse than Day 1 as it was in the middle of the village. At one point I had no less than 7 women and 1 10-11 year old girl pleading with me to buy something. Stressful and a little sad I'm afraid. The waterfall was presumably a little low on water, and hence no swim at the bottom but I never heard anyone state there was no swimming.

Lunch was in a restaurant, and again food was provided but any drinks were on a paid for basis.

I wouldn't put you off booking this tour, especially if you have only 2 days to spend. You have my version to assist you and I would say most would be happy with that, but all in all knowing more about Vietnam now and how things work if I was doing this again with more than 1 day...I'd book the green bus myself and get to Sapa where you will find plenty of people walking around looking to take people trekking. The beauty of that is you will get 1:1 experience with a guide and move at your own pace. There are plenty of accommodation options. You'll save money, and ensure all the money goes to local people

Me and my wife had an excellent experience trekking through the jungle and rice fields to our home stay and back. The homestay was comfortable and fun. While the trekking was tiring, we felt it was a rewarding way to learn about the ethnic minorities and their way of life.

Trekking around Sapa involves a lot of walking. First day it was 12km and the second - 5km. We were lucky as it rained a little and it wasn't so hard to trek, however even if it was there are ladies from the valley that help you through the whole way and in the end you need to buy something from them. Our guide was a very nice young lady who spoke perfect English and was very friendly. The homestay was really good and the food was delicious, definitely recommend it. However, maybe October is not the best time as they had already harvest the rice and the views weren't as mesmerizing as they normally are. The lady says the best time is either in July or September but every season is special in Sapa as you get to see it in different colors. We were so surprised and impressed by the Green Bus as it had beds instead of seats for every passenger, the most comfortable 6 hours journey I have ever had! Regarding clothing, leggings and shirts are okay, however, have a hoodie and nothing white! After we finished it was all so muddy, you can't wear it more without washing, especially the shoes so keep that in mind. Also, on the last day they were kind enough to let us shower before getting on the bus to go back to Hanoi.

This was one of the highlights our trip. The sights were absolutely gorgeous and it was so different from our experience in the rest of Vietnam. Our tour guide and the ladies who trekked with us to their village were lovely, however they will ask you to buy their handmade bags and scarves once you reach their village.

Our tour guide was quite fast and the first day we did a 12km hike on the first day (which was not in the description so be prepared if that happens to you). Also I recommend bringing hiking boots if you have them. Even though it was not raining, some areas were muddy and slippery. You could get by with running shoes as I did but they got quite muddy and I had to tread carefully in places. Hiking boots would have given me more peace of mind.

The homestay was a unique experience and the food was very good. We slept on cots in a communal room which was fine for us for one night.

On the second day it was a shorter hike. Only 3 hours long and we finished by swimming at the base of the waterfall which was so refreshing. I recommend wearing your swimsuit ahead of time for this.

I definitely recommend this tour for anyone with hiking experience. You wont regret it!
