The best way to see Ninh Binh!
Mar. 2020 • Couples
Highly recommend these guys to explore Ninh Binh. Our tour guide Son, was amazing, he spoke very well and was easy to have a laugh with. It was a more exclusive tour with the groups being capped at 7 the transport was a smaller bus and very comfortable.

Small bus
Jan. 2020
You get you pay for. The seats were tight in a small bus packed to the brim. Other than that the tour was fun.

Beautiful scenery
Jan. 2020 • Solo
The scenery was beautiful and I'm glad I got to see this place in the limited time I had. The tour guide was lovely and spoke clear English. I felt like he was just going with the motions though and that we were just another lot of tourists rather than people to connect with.

Full-Day Tour to Hoa Lu and Tam Coc from Hano
Dec. 2019 • Couples
A fantastic day tour incorporating a tour of the old capital city followed by a bike ride and a relaxing boat journey through some breathtaking scenery. Recommended to anyone wanting a relaxing day.

The tour guide was interesting and knowledgeable and spoke good English. The coach trip from Hanoi was interesting in the Hanoi traffic!

Lunch was a buffet which catered for all types of meals.

Well Worth It
Dec. 2019 • Solo
The logistics on this tour are a bit iffy. It includes hotel pickup and drop off within the Old Quarter which is great, but also means you may be the last one in either direction easily adding an hour or more to the duration. Once it got going it was somewhere between fine and great. The visit to the temples at Hoa Lu was interesting and our guide was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and entertaining; also spoke English well. The buffet lunch was abundant but ordinary. It’s unrealistic to expect gourmet food in this setting. The highlight of the tour for me was Tam Coc. The bike ride was fun and scenic although the bikes have seen better days. Mine had working brakes only only on the left side which made stopping and slowing difficult. When I mentioned this when returning the bike, the guy at the bike place simply said “Yeah, some of them are like that.” Not too encouraging. The finale was the boat ride and that was truly awesome. It’s worth going just for that. We were lucky in that it was a beautiful day and the views were spectacular. Then, back on the bus and the grueling Hanoi traffic experience at the end. Despite the logistics issues I would certainly recommend this tour. It really is a FULL day, worthwhile experience.

Nice experience
Aug. 2019 • Couples
Hoa Lu was a beautiful and interesting place to visit. Also a good opportunity to learn some history from Toan, the tour-guide.
The boat trip in the Tam Coc river was the best part of the tour, as the beauty of the landscape is unbelievable. The cycling along the river was also very enjoyable and not tiring at all.
It is very important though to choose a reliable bike before you start.
Also make sure to stick with the group in case you feel that you are left behind and that you take some snack in your bag in case you are not willing to eat all your lunch.
On the negative side, the problems were the following:
The 2-way trip was too long and tiring, lunch was marginally ok, the cost of drinks and tips is not included and the total amount of spare time was unwisely distributed.

Fantastic day out
Aug. 2019
Recommend this tour, and if you get Kimmy as a guide, you are in for a treat. His English was good, his knowledge was good, and he kept everyone entertained. The highlight of the day was definately Tam Coc and the bike ride, and then the boat trip. Transport was good and it was very well organised for a full day trip. Remember to wear clothes which cover shoulders and knees to enter the temples. And a tip - photographers will take your photo at many opportunity, especially the bike and boat trips. They are good photos but they will ask top $$, so barter them down to what you may normally pay in your own country - we paid way too much ! Thanks Kimmy for a memorable day 😊

3 courses to this trip....
The starter was a stop at the temples at Hoa Lu, which were not particularly exciting if you have seen other temples/pagodas in Vietnam, although it was interesting to learn about the history

The second course was a 30 minute cycle trip around Tam Coc. This was an easy ride along a flat path through the countryside and good fun. Not the best cycles in the world, but the tyres were pumped and the brakes worked.

The main course was the trip along the Tam Coc river. Very touristy, but nonetheless a great experience. You can politely say no to the sellers at the turnaround point if you wish, and the recommended tip for the rower is 20k per person, although ours asked for more. Again, I politely said no.

Kimi was our guide for the trip, and his knowledge and humour kept us entertained throughout the day.

Well organised and great tour guide
Had a brilliant tour guide who was patient and had excellent English. Highlights of the tour would be the cycle ride and the boat ride, natural beauty and great photo opportunities.

I did find some of the local people a bit pushy with their sales technique, but no different to most touristy areas in Vietnam.
